Chapter 42: Chapter 42
Kaya’s POV
"Hello, Kaya, Isn’t it?" Azian asked me. He was really talking to me. He really knew how I was, he knew my name. I don’t know why these were the first thoughts that rummaged my brain.
My body stiffened and I knew there was no way to avoid him. It would be too weird if I didn't look at him for the whole dinner.
It had after all been a dream. Nothing like that is going to happen in real life. I slowly looked up at me and watched as that faint familiar smirk appeared on his lips.
Almost like a taunt.
The moment I looked at him was like I was back to last night’s dream.
I definitely captured him pretty well in my dreams, every feature was there, except his golden eyes. No, in real life he had his blue ones.
"Hi," I whispered back softly.
My voice sounded so cute and innocent I didn't know why the hell it decided to betray me but he didn't seem to mind or notice. He started at me for a while till he focused back to his precious Khloe.
When dinner began I felt like I didn't exist at all. It was more like Khloe did this. Azian did that, Stephanie did this and Dad was the one it was directed to.
Ally couldn't contain how bored she was at the moment and I caught her rolling her eyes here and there when another question was aimed at Khloe.
But I didn't mind.
I had nothing to say and I was sure my life wasn't half as exciting as Khloe was, her friends, dating the hottest guy in school, sports, beauty...agh who cared what little Kaya did?
"So Azian how did you and Khloe meet?" Stephanie asked.
I dared to peak at him knowing he should be looking at Stephanie now. He had taken off his dark shades and he looked much worn out. I honestly felt he didn't want to be here as well.
"Uhmm-"
"Let me tell the story!" Khloe barged in, she began with how their eyes met, how he had told her he liked and blah, blah, and blah-you wouldn't believe he had said all those things the first day he laid eyes on her and in the middle of the cafeteria for that moment!
I hope she knew she wasn't that special, did she know he had just kissed her “sister" a few minutes before?
I scoffed louder than I should have causing all eyes on me, including Azians.
I coughed uncomfortably, " I'm sorry, I just need some water, I'll be right back,” I said in a second Ally had joined me.
"Thanks for the excuse. It was so good I had to use it,” she muttered as she got a glass.
I nodded.
“Wow, I did not think dinner would go like this,” she continued, “the Azian jerk shows up, everything all about Khloe. I’m so sorry Kaya,”
"It's fine, I knew what I was heading into. This isn't my first time,” I replied, "let's head back shall we, but Ally,"
She turned back unexpectedly" can we switch seats?"
She furrowed her eyebrows,
I sighed, " Azian is seated opposite my and whenever he moves his legs unintentionally brush mine. It’s not very comfortable"
Ally smirked, “sure". We headed back to our seats and this time I sat near my father and opposite Khloe.
I could feel Azians eyes on me.
I did not know how. But I did.
**********8..
Dinner was a disaster.
I hated every minute of it. Stephanie had Khloe and Azian under her gaze like a hawk.
I said an awkward goodbye to dad when Aunt Lily came to pick us up. She had a few nasty words to say to my father, she gave a hard look and Stephanie. Then at Azian. Then she stomped off dragging us along with
"I'm glad I came out of that he'll hole, no offence Kaya," Ally muttered
"None taken" I replied as we sped away.
We dropped Ally off at home and I was more than glad to be in my own home. A house that actually felt like a home not some random shank.
Aunt Lily couldn't stop complaining about Liam or my father.
I checked my phone and found 4 missed calls from my mother.
"Mom was calling. I should call her back,” I said as I headed upstairs.
"Do not tell her about your dinner or she will kill me for allowing you to go there in the first place!" Aunt Lily warned.
I nodded being very careful.
**
That night decided to go to bed very early after all the next day was a Monday.
I tried my very best to sleep in a random position so I wouldn't be taken back to my stupid dream.
After seeing them so close together I wanted absolutely nothing to do with either of them
I closed my eyes and slept.
I woke up the familiar rattle on my balcony, the figure .and I groaned. This dream again?!
Nope this time I didn't care I was not opening nothing no matter what.
I threw the covers over my head and shut my eyes real tight.
Counting sheep to the soft rattles stopped. I sat up and the figure was gone…agh well goodnight.
I flopped over and tried in vain to catch some sleep.
And I did.
However even as I closed my eyes I couldn't help but feel like someone or something was watching me.
**
Walking through the halls I met up with a much drained Ally, "well you look like shit" she greeted as I yawned, “happy Monday to you,” I replied blowing her a kiss.
She grinned, "Are you okay?" She asked.
"Yeah why?"
“Well yesterday."
"It's good. Like I said I'm used to it,”
She nodded, "I'll see you for our next class" she said as we split.
I nodded walking through the crowd my eyes caught a glimpse of the popular three well now four and I rolled my eyes.
Who on earth is perfect every day? They seemed to be like models no matter what day no matter what season. Agh well screw them. Life aint life without flaws.
I didn't bother to look at any of them any longer.
When I finally got to my class I frowned as I saw someone I really did not want to see her again.
Monday was really useless.
Legion sat in my favorite seat with his usual jerky smirk. He was an ass.
The other boys seemed to be seated as far away from him as possible and the girls swooned but still maintaining good distance.
I stopped bothering about his off and on again class schedule.
I realized no one could tame him, not even me.
"Estheraï"
I closed my eyes leaning my head against the wall ignoring him.
I heard a chair scrape before me and I wanted to punch his ass, obviously no one knows what leave me alone is in this stupid town.
I opened my eyes a fire burning within them, “how many times must I ask you to stay away?" I gritted out.
"This won't be your last I assure you," he replied still smirking.
Did he really think being a jerk was charming?
"Legion. I don't want to talk to you"
.his smile faltered, “one chance"
"I said-"
"Hear me out. Give me one chance. One chance and if I mess it up I won't bother you again, please."
He wasn't smirking not at all. Like he usually did. He looked me square in the eye.
"Meet me by the JC after lunch,” he whispered as the teacher walked in.
I was still at a loss for words so I didn't reply and went through my classes, had one Ally then it was lunch.
When we finished lunch Ally had to make a phone call so I decided to check out what Legion had to say. What had I left to lose?
I walked slowly towards the JC or in other words janitor’s closet.
I knew a lot of nasty things have happened in here but I knew Legion wouldn't try to pull any of that on me, unless he did then I did have my pepper spray.
I breathed out slowly noticing the empty halls. Walking towards the JC, I opened it slipping in.
"You made it,"
“This is ridiculous,” I muttered as I looked at the small space I had trapped myself in.
"It is," Legion replied switching on the light. His grin alone sent butterflies to my stomach, "I did say by the JC and not in it”
I frowned, about to turn away, I was not in the mood for jokes.
He pulled me back roughly staring straight at me, clenching his jaw. He sighed and I felt like there really was no space in this itty bitty closet.
I could feel his body on me and I didn't like how I reacted.
"I like you," he blurted out surprising me, he looked at me for a moment resembling that of a half scared little puppy.
"I like you a lot Kaya," he repeated, “I’m not really good with my feelings. I don't know how to...” He trailed off eyeing me as if wondering if he was making any sense or just embarrassing himself.
But I liked it, I liked hearing what he had to say.
“How to?" I asked slowly, I couldn't help the faint smile that found its way on my lips. I never really thought I would see Legion look like this, like a lost puppy.
"I don't how to-show those feelings. I’m not-I’m not good at feelings." He paused breathing out, "I've never really done this before," he trailed off.
"You can't be serious. You have never told a girl you like her?" What did he think I was? Born last night? A guy as unearthly hot, rich and handsome as Legion had never really liked a girl?.
I was right about to do a double take but his next words startled me.
"Yes. I have never. I guess that's why am so bad at it...” He slowly looked up at me, “the other day. I just didn't want you getting to close. I-"
I could tell he was really struggling to find words. And I felt really bad for pushing him to do it. Wait, no I didn't.
I mean c’mon! Tell me which girl didn't like a hot boy telling her he's head over heels for her?!
He breathed out his shoulders dropping, “I must look like an idiot. I had one chance and I blew it" his features changed so drastically to anger I couldn't understand it.
His look alone should have scared me bit it actually made me grin. I grabbed my bag watching as he looked at me sorrow fully.
He seemed in pain. Oh look how the tables have turned.
"No, Wait, I can do better," he pleaded as I held the door.
I opened the door watching him closer back before I broke into a smile walking over and kissing him on the cheek, "No you did fine," I replied before I walked out of the JC.
I could almost feel him exploding with joy behind me.
Boys.
I walked into the hallway just as kids we're filling in from lunch. My eyes catching a glimpse of the popular fours coming out, I turned away heading toward my locked. As I opened it a note fell out.
I looked at it and my heart skipped a beat,
LET ME IN TONIGHT
It read. I quickly searched for Azian who had stopped a few feet away deeply conversing in a chat with Edwin.
He had not even bothered to look away.
I looked back at the note in my hand.
There was nothing on it, it was just a plain piece of paper.
I must be going crazy.
************
Azian glanced back over his shoulder watching her retreating figure. He hoped Alpha was satisfied now.
"She's seen it?" Edwin asked following Azians gaze.
He nodded in reply, "let's hope she lets me in tonight"
Edwin shook his head muttering something underneath his breath.
"What did you say?" Azian asked watching Edwin curiously.
Edwin closed his locker, "Nothing. Let’s just head to class".
Azian paused watching Edwin disappear into the crowd before following him, he knew exactly what Edwin had said.
