Chapter 47: Chapter 47

~Aurelia Williams~

"Hi Steven," I greeted my best friend as I entered the common room.

It has been three weeks since I found out about my father's death. As the death of my only survivor tugged at my soul, despite the blows it gave me, Arsen allowed me to see Steven again, who always had the perfect words to cheer me up. Still, Arsen was always wary around him, even though I told him Steven was harmless. We have spoken out and we also see that the way it is now is the best. Still, I can see a certain sadness in his eyes.

Arsenic rarely left my side and now entered the common room close behind me.

Steven gave me a big smile and then bowed respectfully to his alpha.

I took a quick look around the room and soon found Inala. She was sitting in the middle, on one of the comfortable sofas, leafing through a newspaper. So I ran to my now very good friend. It was good to finally be able to talk to a woman. Nothing against Steven, but certain things can only be discussed with a woman.

"What are you reading?" I asked curiously as I sat down next to her.

Inala winced and hid the newspaper behind her back. "Nothing," was the only thing she managed to get out.

"Why so mysterious, you probably won't look at naked men." I started to laugh and Inala immediately blushed. The thought of it was just too funny.

"Anything I should know?" Arsen asked in his dark voice as he sat down next to me and pulled me close.

I enjoyed his closeness and rested my head on his heaving chest.

"You'll find out soon enough." Inala laughed now too and got up without a glance at the newspaper. She quickly left the room, leaving me with a confused face. Did I do something wrong?

Steven took the place where she was sitting. "What's wrong with her?" he asked confused as he sat down. Arsen immediately started to growl. He doesn't like it when Steven is too close to me. Steven jumped up again immediately.

"Sorry, Alpha," he apologized. I glared at Arsen.

Arsen just rolled his eyes and motioned for Steven to sit back down. This time he pulled me all the way onto his lap.

"You want to sit next to each other. Please. Only on the condition that you sit on my lap." He mumbled in amusement and now it was me who rolled my eyes.

Steven carefully took his seat again, leaving a large gap between himself and his alpha. In that moment, I wished Arsen wouldn't always see him as a threat, but as a friend. But with his huge ego, that's probably never going to happen.

I snuggled into Arsen's shoulder and looked at Steven. He was still visibly uncomfortable that I was going out with his alpha. He loved me so many years before that. If he had told me sooner, who knows, maybe I would have fallen in love with him too and we would have eloped together. But that wasn't the case and now he had to accept that I was Arsenic's mate. And I don't regret anything about that, because the feelings I had developed for Arsenic were gigantic and grew from day to day.

I could only hope that he would find Steven his mate soon and then forget me. Of course not as a best friend, because this friendship, I hope, should last forever.

"Where are you going to be next mateball?" I asked simply, to get on the subject. Steven's eyes, previously lying silently on the floor, darted to me.

"Why do you ask?"

"Oh well. It's your last mate ball before your 18th birthday and Arsen told me how long he's been looking for me. He explained to me that werewolves usually find their mate between the ages of 16 and 18. Then I thought to myself that it's about time you found your mate." I explained myself.

"How many times do I have to tell you I don't want my mate?" he said a little tightly.

Arsenic growled again immediately. He didn't like the tone in which Steven was just speaking to me. I stroked his cheek to calm him down. He closed his eyes and immediately relaxed.

Lately, Arsen has been getting more and more tense and freaking out faster. I didn't know what it was, but I could always calm him down with simple skin contact.

"I'll go look for Inala," I said and then got up and Arsen immediately wanted to follow me again. "Alone. I want to discuss girl stuff with her." Arsen sat back down on the sofa and watched me as I walked through the door.

It was true. I really needed someone neutral to talk to again. Someone who understands me as a woman.

I ran to Costa and Inala's shared bedroom and knocked. Inala immediately opened the door a crack and stuck her head out. When she saw me, she immediately smiled with relief.

"It's you," she began. "I was hoping you would come looking for me. I really need your help." She opened the door a little further and pulled me into her room.

Your room was very spacious and comfortably furnished. Her bed was against the left wall, on which trees were depicted. The brown hue of the bed and the floor gave the whole room a cozy and warm feel.

But what irritated me were all the catalogs and newspapers strewn all over the floor.

"Why is it such a mess here?" I asked confused.

"I need you to help me clean up. Costa will be right there and if he finds the papers, the surprise will be for naught." Inala sounded very nervous and I could hear her voice cracking.

"Are you okay?" I asked. Besides, I didn't know what surprise she was talking about.

"Yes, more than fine." The first tears flowed from Inala's eyes and she began to sob. I immediately went to her to take her in my arms. But Inala only wiped her face briefly and then said : "Shit hormones."

Now I didn't understand anything anymore and looked at my right foot, with which I was standing on a catalogue. I picked it up and looked at the pictures.

Baby beds, chests of drawers and other baby furniture were shown in this catalogue.
