Chapter 11: Chapter 11
Exploring human earth
Elijah’s POV
I was amazed by the beauty of the earth. Weeks have passed since our arrival to earth. Elle drove her silver looking car and showed me her city. I have learnt a lot about how people live and they have a very nice culture. My planet is very natural and we do not have the comfort that the earth has. The human race is so intelligent it created electricity outside in the streets and the houses and so they can stay up longer even after dark.
Elle decided to take me to new places and so she drove us to the airport which we never had one back in rignau. As soon as we walked into the airport I could see a lot of people staring at me which was a weird feeling but no one approached to ask. We went to do the check-in and the hostess took our luggage away.
The hostess couldn't stop staring at me and I don't blame her as I looked weird for her. Taking an escalator it took us up to the waiting area where we waited for at least an hour.
To pass the time we bought some food and drinks from a cafeteria, as Elle chstted along excitedly, explaining her plans for the holiday.
"I can't wait for take off!," she breathed, reaching for my hand.
"You are the leader. I folow you wherever you go missy," I smiled excitedly, moving a strand of hair from Elle's face.
"I am gettinf another round of coffee for us," she said, jumping out from her chair as she rushed her way behind the queue.
Whilst I was waiting for her to return I heard that the plane to our destination was ready to allow the passengers onboard so as I was standing up Elle was already coming back to pick up her luggage to go que behind the other passengers.
We stood behind a large glass door as we waited for our turn to do the checking in.
"Here Elijah. Show her your new passport," she said handing the passport to me which I did the day before.
Though earth is amazing it has a lot of things that make it complicated. Not understanding the purpose of certain things, I had to follow the procedures so Elle took me to a passport office department and like I thought received a lot of staring.
It was my turn to show my ticket and passport to the air hostess and she looked twice before handing them back to me. I walked out and saw a large plane which was stunning.
We walked up the stairs and a hostess welcomed us on board. I took a random seat not knowing the rules but Elle explained that we had to find ours depending on the letter and number and luckily I was placed by a window.
“I have been on a plane many times Elijah. I swear you are going to love this! Oh and by the way do you know that this planet holds different races of people? You have seen my kind and dark-skinned already. But there is more to see so keep your eyes open.”
With her eyes wide with excitement she hugged my arm as she peeped out of the window and waited for the plane to lift off.
As the plane started to take off I had the worst feeling. It was running at a very high speed at first, then as I closed my eyes and scrunched my whole face the plane flew upwards like a bird. I momentarily wished for the weird feeling to stop but it kept getting worse the higher it went.
Elle, being a tease, she did not lose the opportunity to get a laugh out of me.
I only relaxed as soon as the plane stopped getting higher and higher and so I decided to peep from the window and enjoy the view below. Elle explained to me that the lands I was seeing were different countries and she mentioned some to me.
It took hours and hours of travelling and soon arrived in a country called Turkey. As soon as we left the plane we went for the luggage and left the airport. We took a bus that drove for at least one hour until we arrived at our destination.
"This is a hotel Elijah. It has a lot of rooms where it welcomes tourists like us to stay for a few nights as they travel around," she explained stopping just in front of the large building.
It had a large name written on top that said dream house. It was painted all in yellow and parts of it were made out of wood. The area that we were in was full of buildings and amazing sites to explore.
We did the checking at the hotel and a young turkish girl escorted us to our room. It had a very large bed with pink bed sheets. On the left side of the room, there was a very elegant pink couch that was put under a large window. We left the luggage there and went out. A taxi came to pick us up and drove us around town before it took us out of the city and stopped at a very quiet location. He opened the door for us, Elle paid him for the ride and left.
“Welcome to the blue mosque!” she said with a lot of enthusiasm in her tone. “What a beauty!” she continued.
I could hear her inhale and exhale loudly and smiled from ear to ear. Indeed it was a sight I have never laid eyes on before. With a large dome on top, it had its top all painted in blue and gold. It was so quiet, only the humming of the bees and the chirping of the birds coming from the garden behind us was breaking the silence.
We walked around the temple, exploring every painting and every detail of this old and beautiful place, then we picked up another taxi and it drove us to a restaurant back in the city.
We ordered two plates of traditional turkish main dishes and whilst we waited for it we chatted along. Fortunately, I knew my manners in a restaurant as on Rignau we had too so I didn't have to embarass myself in front of everyone around us on the other tables.
"Don't forget to leave some space for my favourite desert," Elle said, pointing at the colourful trays that were presented on the restaurant's front desk.
"What is that?"
"Turkish delights Elijah. They are delicious!," she exclaimed, with her eyes wide open.
We spent a few days in Turkey, then Elle decided to take me to more countries in a few days. I felt extremely excited to have this opportunity, though the stairs from the people were making this great experience a little nerve racking.
The next location we travelled to was Spain. She walked me through the busy streets of Madrid, then travelled to Barcelona where we visited the largest aquarium in Europe and the Sagrada familia church which was informed that it belonged to another religion. Unlike us ragnons, humans have more then just one religion which makes culture and art more interesting. We ate a lot of tapas and tested a lot of different alcohols as drinking there was cheep.
Elle pushed me to try out some alcohol so she would see my reaction as back home in Rignau we do not have alcohol. Just water and some herbal drinks. I enjoyed the bitterness of the limoncello and the smell and taste of whiskey which was my favourite.
We ended up spending a year travelling around the world, from Asia to Europe, most of America and south of Africa where I had the opportunity to take pictures with a great number of animals including lions. Rignau has zebras and deers and birds but we do not have giraffes, lions hippos, not even camels. I was amazed by what earth offered to mankind.
Even though earth was great fun, it was time to return to Rignau as I have not seen my sister for so long and needed to know that everything was ok. Elle understood instantly and so we travelled back to Elle's parent's house to inform them that we were planning to leave and go back home. They were saddened by the news but they knew that one day it had to happen.
