Big news

Elle's POV

The next day I woke up early to prepare for the day. Elle joined me in the kitchen as we had some girls time, chatting.

“You should come with us one day to planet Rignau. It is a gorgeous planet. Very natural, clean and unique,” Elle said with a hint of excitement in her tone.

I laughed nervously and looked down to the bowl full with rice as I added some corn and freshly chopped tomatoes.

“I don’t know Elle. Maybe. But I’m scared to travel. You know how I am. Also I have some big news to tell you,” I replied enthusiastically.

Elle waited for me to continue, not moving her eyes off me.

“We set the date to our wedding and I need you to be here when the day arrives. I want you to be my bridesmaid. I have a nice dress prepared for you which I bought right before you were gone. I wanted to tell you before but was keeping it a surprise until the dress arrived,” I continued.

Elle's POV

I was so excited by the news that a big smile formed without an effort. It was an honour for me to be part of her big day. Of course I accepted and gave her a long side hug and kissed her cheek. Elijah came down rubbing his eyes, yawned and stretched his muscles, then sighed and smiled at us. We looked up at him and like a choir we offered him a good morning. Nora and I looked at each other and giggled as it looked like it was planned out.

Nora took me to see the dress she got for me that was hung on the bedroom door. It was very plain, blue, with a large bow at the back side of the dress. The material was very smooth and soft and as I tried it on it fit like a glove. She also got me a pair of silver shoes with a set of jewellary to compliment the dress.

"Wow Nora. You know what? I am so grateful to be a part of your special day. You deserve the world and all its treasures. I love you so much and I am going to miss being with you when I go back."

Nora looked down with a sad face and asked me if I will be staying with him on Rignau. I nodded and she started bawling and I joined in hugging her.

"I will miss you. But Rignau feels like home. It is so quiet and natural and the people there are so nice. I couldn't say no to the offer. I will be coming back and forth though I promise," I smiled and whiped away my tears.

"The sad thing is that there are no phones to communicate with. So I might have to wait until you come back to have some girl talk," she added.

I nodded and offered her again to come with me to Rignau but sadly she refused as she wanted to stay close with her family. I understood as I knew how difficult it is to be away from them. But Elijah and I could not stay as we didnt want the people to start questioning. He was not like the rest of us and was afaraid that someone would take the opportunity to harm him.

“Oh wow it is already 10.30, it is best to leave Nora and Jack in peace Elijah,” I said to him whilst walking to the guest room to change my clothes.

Soon we were expected to return home for lunch anyway as I promised my mum that we will spend some time with her and dad to catch up.

“Sure, any time my love. I had a great time here. They really know how to cook and have fun. Nice choice of friends," he hugged me and I felt really small compared to his large body, then he kissed my forehead.

“It seems like you and Jack clicked together," I said as I lifted my head to look at him.

“Hmm he is a great guy. I like his company, sure,” his smile melted my heart and I squeezed his ribs so hard that he gasped, trying to get some air in his lungs.

“let go. Can’t breathe," he exclaimed whilst trying to push me away.

I laughed and let him go, then I took his hands in mine and we walked down to say goodbye.

“How about showing you around after lunch? This planet has mountains, rivers, oceans, forests, different kinds of animals,” I asked whilst I was driving back to mum’s house.

“Yeah, I'd like that,” he answered with his eyes still fixed at the view outside.

He smiled as his eyes showed how enthusiastic he was to explore.

11.45 am, we arrived at our destination. Soon food was ready and so we gathered around the table. Dad had a full on conversation about planet Rignau with Elijah and mum and I had some lady talk.

“So Elle," dad interrupted, “what are you going to do now? Will you stay here or will you go live with Elijah back at his planet? Rigu..Ragu?”

Looking at Elijah for a moment then back at my parents I corrected him “Rignau dad,” and laughed, then started to explain that we have not yet discussed what we were going to do.

It was too early to say. “We might even explore other planets," I suggested as I was back in my own bedroom with Elijah.

“Who knows what planet we might like to live in at the end,” I teased and laughed.

“We can go around if you like. I have been to planet Sanu. It is remarkable. I remember it well so I can take you there if you like and explore it one day.”

He smiled at me as I was brushing my hair, sitting on the chair in front of my dressing table. I stared at him through the reflection of the mirror, then returned the smile and agreed to the idea.

“As long as I have you by my side, I can go anywhere," I said as I winked at him to flirt a little.

That afternoon we decided to go out. Elijah wanted to hide his face so he avoids having any attention from the humans so I gave him one of my dad's caps to wear. We headed off to a long drive around the coast and stopped on a sandy beach to have some break from driving. There was an ice cream truck so I decided to suggest to Elijah to try one of his ice cream flavours and even though the feeling was weird for him, he enjoyed it. Since they do not have a refridgeratior or a freezer back on Rignau he never tasted anything cold before. We walked for a while feeling the wet sand beneath our feet. The sea was so calm and I felt like going for a swim so I took off my shirt and trousers and with just my undies I dived in. Elijah joined in right after.

"Cold," he said as he swam next to me.

"Why? Is the sea back on your earth warm?" I said teasingly.

"Mhmm," he answered as he gasped and coughed after swallowing some water as a small wave hit us.

We both chuckled at the joke. I took in a deep breath and dived under the sea. I was good at keeping my breath so I went quite far down. I noticed something below and went for it, they swam back up and as my face was out from the sea I gasped for air. I opened my hand to see what I picked and found a sea shell. It was Elijah's first time looking at one as they do not have any on Rignau. He thought it was beautiful.

It was getting a bit late especially for me who still needed to drive back, so we decided to dry ourselves from the water and take off.

Whilst on the road Elijah noticed all the lights switching on as it was getting dark. He thought they were a brilliant idea and wished that one day his planet would have lights like those too. The busy streets turned quieter as we neared the end of it and were close to home.
