Chapter 25: Chapter 25
Before Zurier could be discharged from the hospital he had to undergo a final psychiatric elevation with a different therapist than his regular therapist to ensure that the decision to discharge him is not biassed. Anthon is the second opinion therapist and is making his way to Zurier's room. The patient sharing with Zurier has been wheeled out for physiotherapy and therefore Zurier’s evaluation will take place in his room.
“Good morning, I am Anthon,” Anthon greets as he walks into the room. Zurier looked up from his phone where he is busy typing a message to Gabriella and when his eye fell on Anthon's face he could not believe he is looking at one of Gabriella’s rapists. Zurier immediately started to press his panic button, “stay away from me! I know who you are!”
Anthon acted fast and grabbed a syringe filled with calming medicine that put patients that are having a panic attack to sleep. Anthon always carried one, ready to use in case he has a difficult patient. Zurier did put up a fight but Anthon managed to put him out. Anthon opened the room door again and gathered himself. Anthon took a deep breath and gathered his thoughts, ‘what the hell am I going to do now.’
It isn’t long before a nurse storms into the room, “everything ok? The panic button is going crazy.”
“He must have remembered his ordeal. When I arrived he was fitting so I had to give him a shot. Please make arrangements to move him to the psychiatric ward and put him in a straight jacket in case he goes into a fit stage again,” Anthon says as he makes some notes in his file making sure to write up to keep him sleeping for the next twenty-four-hours.
Gabriella is excited to get to work and can not wait to get her day started with Zurier. ‘Today he will get discharged and perhaps it will help him to regain use of his legs sooner and that will mean he is no longer a patient and then I can pursue a relationship with him,.. I wonder if he likes me in a romantic way,’ she thought as she walked past Anthon not even noticing him.
Anthon just stares after her with a look of ‘what the hell?’
Gabriella turns into Zurier’s room only to find the room neatly turned over, “where is Zurier?”
“Sorry dear, Zurier has been moved to Psychiatric ward, don’t think you will be able to see him in a long time,” one of the nurses tending to the other patient says.
“What are you talking about? What happened?” Gabriella demands to know.
“He is no longer your patient, talk to his shrink.”
Gabriella storms off to go talk to the shrink only to find out that the shrink knew nothing of it.
“Why do you have Zurier tied down in the Psychiatric ward?” Gabriella storms into Anthon's office.
“Because he is unwell.”
“What are you talking about? He is well, he is to be discharged today?!” Gabriella says, feeling the tears build up in her.
“What is it to you? Don’t tell me how to do my job, he is my patient now and I will release him when I see fit,” Anthon says a bit displaced as he didn’t realize that Zurier might be the reason why Gabriella is not letting herself go with him.
Gabriella storms off and Anthon calls off to her, “hey, where are you going? We are not done here!” Anthon's words fall on death's ears as Gabriella storms off to go find Alex.
After searching awhile around the hospital she made her way over to Alex’s apartment. In the foyer, she notices that Alex and Amber’s heads are hanging over what seems to be a pregnancy test. ‘Guess the two-timer, two-timed the wrong girl, serves him right,’ she thought as she approaches them.
“Sorry to interrupt the happy moment. Zurier is in the Psychiatric ward, apparently, he went all crazy this morning. You have to help him.”
“What are you talking about? He is as solid as a rock?!” Alex says.
“That is what I feel as well but his charts say that he might have remembered what happened to him but I think something else is going on,” Gabriella says with urgency.
Alex turns to Amber, “we will talk about this later, ok?” Alex sees Amber’s eyes of confusion. “I am happy about it, here is my credit card; go start doing some baby shopping.”
Alex turns to Gabriella, “you may go, thank you for telling me.”
“Congratulations on the baby, bye,” Gabriella says and walks off.
Before Alex leaves he gives Amber the code to his apartment and a confused kiss on her forehead. ‘How the hell did I get Amber of all people pregnant?’ Alex thought as he rushes off.
Amber sigh of relief as her plan seems to be working, ‘now to just actually get pregnant,’ she thinks as the first time she tricked Alex she didn’t get pregnant.
Alex went straight to Mrs. Finn’s office to try and resolve the matter.
“You really want to tell my doctors how to do their jobs?” Mrs. Finn asked angrily, slapping her hands on her table, standing up.
“Get out of my hospital!” Mrs. Finn shouts.
Alex decided not to fight her on this as he think he has already compromised his standing at the hospital. Alex sends Gabriella a message, ‘I DID WHAT I COULD BUT YOUR AUNT TOLD ME TO GET OUT OF THE HOSPITAL.’
Gabriella reads the text, and bites her bottom lip, ‘it will be months before anyone is allowed to see him that is not family. I have to convince Anthon to help me, but how?’ she wonders.
“I am sorry for acting out earlier,” Gabriella stands at Anthon's office door.
Anthon quickly closes his computer screen as he was busy researching how to make someone completely lose their memory for good.
“Why did you act out? He is your patient, not your lover.”
“It is because he is my patient, he is my first patient, that’s all,” Gabriella says, telling a half-truth.
Anthon knows that there is more but keeps it to himself, “I am doing some research to help him.”
“Ok, well see you later.”
