Chapter 20: Chapter 20

"Actually, I am not that hungry and I have to go do a physical with the patient," Gabriella says, taking her printed work off the printer.

"But I got you some food," Anthon protest.

"Um, ok, I guess a quick bite won't take that long," she says, taking one of the food packets and sat into his leather seat again.

Anthon is astonished at how fast she could eat, all in all, he estimated it took her about five minutes to finish the chicken-filled wrap.

"Thank you, that was great," Gabriella got up and tried to quickly make her way out of his office.

As she walks past Anthon to leave his office, he grabs her arm, “aren’t you forgetting something?”

“Um, no, don’t think so,” Gabriella says confused.

Anthon pulls her towards him, onto his lap, and starts to kiss her deeply. Gabriella manages to push herself off him, “Anthon! We are at work, anyone can walk past, it is unprofessional,” Gabriella tries to pull herself together.

“She is right you know,” Mrs. Finn says standing at the entrance of Anthon’s office door.

“Hello mother,” Anthon says with a grin on his face.

“Hello Aunty, so sorry, won’t happen again,” Gabriella apologizes, blushing.

“Of course, it will happen again,” Anthon says grabbing Gabriella onto his lap again.

“Anthon, please stop it,” Gabriella says with a hint of anger.

“You two might not be blood-related but you are still related and this thing you have going on needs to end, you will give the family a bad name,” Mrs. Finn says before walking away.

Gabriella quickly made her way out of the office before Anthon can grab her again, ‘I really should end this, my aunt is right.’

Gabriella went straight to Zurier’s room to finish her task. When she got to his room he is sleeping. Gabriella quietly walked in and stood next to his bed. She felt so drawn to him, like an unstoppable force, ‘it must be his good looks.’ She has never seen anyone so beautiful.

Gabriella reaches out to wipe the hair from his brow and as her finger touches his forehead an electric current bolted through her finger again. She quickly took her hand away and gasp. Zurier opened his eyes, “hi.”

“Sorry, I don’t know why that happens,” Gabriella apologizes.

Zurier smiles as he knows but he knows he must wait before he tells her.

“I will come back later,” Gabriella says as she turns around.

“No, wait, I am awake,” Zurier says as he has been waiting all morning to have her in his presence.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes,” Zurier says with a warm smile as he tries to sit up.

“Let me help you,” Gabriella quickly changes the bed’s position to a sitting position.

“Thank you,”

“I am going to do a physical examination now if you can lift your left arm as high as you can,” Gabriella says as she places both her hands around his bicep and triceps of his left upper arm. Another bolt jolts through them.

“Sorry,” Gabriella says, blushing.

“What makes you so sure that it is your fault and not mine?” Zurier asks laughing at her.

“Um, I don’t know,”

“I have metal parts holding my spine tighter,” Zurier tries to ease her worries.

“I didn’t think about that,” Gabriella confess.

“Does it happen to everyone?” Gabriella asks.

“Yes,” Zurier lies, as he tries to lift his left arm.

Even though he is not able to lift his arm Gabriella can feel the muscles flexing. Gabriella proceeded by placing her hands on his lower part of his arm to feel if his brachioradialis muscle is working, and it does, “make a fist for me if you can.”

Zurier tries but is not able to. Gabriella places one of her hands under him and the other one on top of his hand all the while, while she can feel his energy flowing through her making her feel warm. ‘I have never experienced anything like this,’ she thought to herself.

Zurier enjoyed the energy flowing back and forth between them and is not the least bit concerned about the fact that he is unable to make a fist, let alone lift his arm.

Gabriella lost track of the time and only noted the time when her phone rang at 4 pm, “hi Anthon, don’t wait for me I am still busy.”

“Nonsense, I booked us a table at The Roost,” Anthon says, not wanting to accept ‘no’ for an answer.

Zurier studied Gabriella’s beautiful face. He knew this facial expression, ‘she is being forced to agree to something she does not want to do.’

“Why don’t you take your mother out for dinner, I still have to finish my work assignment for the day,” Gabriella says truthfully.

“Bring it with, I will help you,”

Gabriella rolls her eyes with annoyance, “fine, see you in a bit.”

“Sorry about that,” she apologizes after switching off her phone.

“Problems on cloud nine?” Zurier tries to make a joke. He does not remember her being in a romantic relationship before their incidents before he became a human so this relationship must have materialized recently.

“Not exactly. So that is it for today, tomorrow we will start with a program and hopefully, have you walking in no time,” Gabriella says as she starts to pack away her notes.

“I look forward to it,” Zurier says, a bit sad that Gabriella must leave. He is still getting used to being alone.

“Good night Zurier, see you tomorrow,” Gabriella says leaving the room.

Outside the room, Alex is standing, chatting to Amber. Alex's eyes met Gabriella’s, but they said nothing to each other. Gabriella bit her lip and walked away.

“Goodbye Amber,” Alex tries to shake of Amber and walks into Zurier’s room.

“Good afternoon Alex, how are you today?” Zurier greets Alex warmly.

“I am good. How was your day?” Alex took a seat. Alex has grown fond of Zurier and they have become friends. Even though Zurier consider Alex a good person and friend he decided not to let him in on his past as an Angel.

Gabriella got to the exit of the hospital, finding Anthon waiting. Unexpectedly Anthon put his arm around her waist and pulled her in. Anthon gave Gabriella a kiss on her mouth. To the onlookers, one would think they are in a relationship. According to Anthon, they were even though they did not official acknowledge it.
