Chapter 90: Chapter 90

*THREE HOURS EARLIER*

"Pick up the phone, Amy. Pick up the damn the phone," Kayla fumed around as she paced the living room. But, Amy wasn't picking up. She sighed in frustration and rushing into her room, she picked up her bag, heading for Hemsworth Tech. Luckily for her, Tris was at his grandfather's house. Mr Darrel had come earlier to pick him up.

She got out of the house and flagged down a taxi. "Hemsworth Tech," she said to the taxi driver as she got in and he drove off.

"Alpha, you need to see this," Greg said, walking into Cole's office. He was tensed and Cole had a belief it was something bad.

"What is it?" Cole asked as Greg handed over to him an apple tabloid.

Suspiciously, Cole took it from him and watching Olivia on the E news. He almost lost his head. "Shantel, that damned bitch!" He cursed in a raspy voice.

He didn't wait to finish watching the E news as he stood up quickly. "I need to get to Amy," he said as he picked up his jacket. "Give me the car keys,"

"Alpha, you can't drive in this state. I'll have the gamma take you," Greg dissuaded him as he saw the anger and worry etched on his face.

"Give me the damn keys, Greg. I don't have all day," Cole replied, narrowing his eyes and just as his wolf eyes flashed, Greg hurriedly handed the keys to him.

Cole turned around, walking away. "In the meantime, send a message to my father. We need to talk,"

He hurried out of the company's building and got into his car. Driving like a maniac towards the direction of Hemsworth Tech, his mind were occupied by thoughts of Amy.

Liam was on his way to inform Amy about Kayla's calls when he saw her leaning on the water dispenser for support after watching the E news. She had confronted him and ran out of the company. Before he knew it, she was in a taxi, driven away.

Heaving tiredly, he returned back to his office. A few minutes later, Kayla showed up in the office. "Where's Amy?" She demanded, barging into his office.

He swallowed, knowing how terrifying she could be. "You just missed her," he replied.

She stared hard at him. "She has found out, right?" She asked and he nodded.

She groaned. "That son of a bitch. He'll hear from me," she said, matching away in anger. "I told him not to hurt her ever again,"

Liam went after her. "Please, calm down, Kayla. Let's find her first of all," he suggested.

"I'm going to break your best friend's nose," she replied angrily as she got into the elevator and Liam followed her.

"Be rational, Kayla. None of these is Cole's fault,"

She snickered. "You're his best friend after all," she replied as they got out of the elevator.

"What does that mean?" He asked, feeling offended.

Just then, she caught sight of Cole. "Speak of the devil," she said, walking towards him. "Cole!" She yelled his name out loud.

Cole immediately rushed over to where she was. "Kayla, where's Amy? I need to..."

He didn't get to complete his words when a slap fell across his face.

"You need to do nothing, you scumbag. You did nothing back then, so keep doing nothing. Just stay the hell away from Amy. She was doing great until you crawled back into her life," Kayla vented.

Cole swallowed, unable to speak, knowing that she was right.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to find my friend," she said and walked away after giving him the death stare.

Cole ran his tongue in his mouth. "I deserved that,"

"Maybe more," Liam replied.

"Look, I'm not here to get blamed. I'm here for Amy,"

Liam stared at him. "She's gone, okay? She ran off as soon as she watched the E news. That girl of yours is a wacko. Sorry, I meant fiancee," he said sarcastically.

Cole was confused. "Fiancee?"

"Are you not tired of these games between you and Shantel? I still wonder how you manage to keep Amy roped in. She doesn't deserve any of this,"

"I do not have the time to banter words with you. I have much pressing matters that needs my attention," Cole replied and with that, he walked away.

Getting into his car, he thought of where Amy could possibly be. At that moment, he realized he had no idea where her favorite spot was.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" He cursed, hitting the steering wheel hard. He had to find her one way or the other.

~~~~~~~~
Cole decided to check his own favorite spot, remembering he had told her she could use it too. His instincts were right when he found her there and how his heart ached to see her sprawled on the ground, in tears.
"Amy," he called, his voice was hoarse and his own pain in his throat and hers choking him to death. He could feel every bit of her emotion flowing through his veins. He felt the mate bond, for she had made herself vulnerable to him, breaking down the barrier that prevented him from feeling her pains.
She wiped away her tears. "Didn't think it would cross your mind to find me here,"
"Why are you fleeing, Amy?"
"Isn't what is going on right now enough reason for me to move to the other side of the world?"
"You don't have to believe the news. In fact, you don't have to believe what Shantel says,"
"Cole," she called in a pitched voice, calling his attention to what she was about to say. "It's not about believing. Can't you see? I'll always be in her shadows. I'll be seen as the villain. I and my innocent son,"
"Our, Amy," he reminded her and she swallowed. "I put him in there, remember?" He asked as he pointed at her stomach and she looked away.
He walked closer to her, standing only a few kissable inches away from her. "I do not regret that night, Amy. That night we both got drunk and had sex, I do not for once regret it. The only regret I have was not being in your life and that of my son sooner. I wasted seven years finding what was missing inside me, not knowing you were somewhere along the corner. Then you came, filling up the hole inside my heart," he said with so much intensity and love as he held her.
Her eyes were shimmering in tears and her heart swayed by his words. "Cole," she whispered tearfully.
"Amy, I lose my senses when you're not with me. Every air that I breathe, every breath that I take is because of you. My world had no meaning until I found you. Now, I breathe for you,"
A tear slipped from her eyes.
Their body merged as he held her hands close to his chest. "I can never look at another woman the way I look at you and not because we're mates, but because I don't see any other woman except from you, and now, it's time for me to do what I should have done all along,"
"Which is?" She asked, her eyes searching his in perplexity.
