Chapter 88: Chapter 88

Amy returned with the brandy and she could sense the tension between the two men has she walked in. "Mr Tan, here's your brandy," she said to him as she stretched small tray containing the brandy towards him.

"Thank you," he said, taking the glass with a smile. "Come on now, William. Come show me what you've done with this place," he added.

"Sure," Liam replied, standing up. Mr Tan got up too and walked towards the door with Liam behind him. He looked over at Amy. Instead of the death stare he has been giving her, his eyes became pleading. "Help me," he mouthed.

Amy nodded. The fun was over. It was time for Mr Tan to leave.

Kathy, Tris grandmother stared at Mr Darrel, before a smile broke on her face.

"You two know each other?" Kayla asked.

"Of course," Kathy replied, smiling as she kept looking at Mr Darrel. "Wayne here used to be my mystery friend. He was there whenever I needed help in the pack, since life as an omega was tough. I didn't know who he was, but knew just his name and I tagged him as my savior. Soon, he vanished into thin air and I never saw him again,"

"But, here I am," Mr Darrel grinned.

"After fifty years and as my grandson's grandfather," Kathy replied, quite skeptical about his sudden visit and all Mr Darrel did was smile. "Come in, please," she said, leading them into the house.

"Where have you been all these while?" She asked as they got into the house.

"I've been in New Orleans for a long time, Kathy," Mr Darrel responded as Kayla went to make tea.

"And you didn't bother to find me again?" She asked.

Mr Darrel heaved. "I left New Orleans to Los Angeles the night I saw you last. It was my father's doing when he noticed that I was becoming close to an omega,"

Kayla brought the tea and served them both, including Tris. She perched on the couch eager to hear of this old romance.

"I had no idea you were an alpha then. You never even told me,"

"I hid my identity because you told me you wanted nothing to do with alphas, remember?" He said and she nodded.

"How did you know I was his grandmother?" She asked.

"I met with your daughter and she looked like a younger version of you. I was very curious and asked about you from Tris. He spoke a lot about you,"

Kathy ruffled Tris hair. "Now, did he?" She asked with a smile and Tris nodded, grinning sheepishly.

Liam took Mr Tan to the technical department and he spoke with the team. After thorough questions, that left half of the team shaking, he turned to Liam. "You should fire them all. They're incompetent," he said.

"They've been with me for years,"

"Are you choosing incompetence over productivity?" Mr Tan asked.

Liam was already losing his mind. How could his uncle be telling him how to run his company when he doesn't tell him how to run his.

He was about to speak when Amy walked in, interrupting him. "Sir, your meeting scheduled by One o'clock has began. You're running late," she said, lying on his behalf.

Liam took a deep breath, thankful for the save even though she was the reason his uncle came. "Alright," he replied and turned to his uncle. "I'll have to get going now. The guard will escort you to your car,"

"Oh, my boy. It was genuinely a pleasure seeing you again. I do hope you're running the pack well, hm?" Mr Tan said and Liam nodded with a brittle smile.

They walked out of the technical department. "This secretary of yours is a fine one. If she doesn't have a mate, you should make her Luna immediately," Mr Tan said with a smile.

Liam looked over at Amy and she looked away with unease. "I'll think about it, uncle," he replied and motioned to a guard.

"See you soon, Timothy," Mr Tan grinned as he walked away with the guard.

Amy chuckled. "See you soon, Timothy," she mimicked.

Liam turned daggered eyes at her. "Don't call me that," he warned. "Why did you let him in here when I told you specifically to cancel his appointment?" He asked.

"I wanted to see what he was like," she replied with a shrug.

"Have you seen it now?"

"Well, he's not that bad," she replied and he narrowed his eyes. "I'm sorry," she apologized.

He groaned in frustration and walked back to his office.

Amy's phone rang as she stacked up the files on her table. She picked it up. It was Cole.

"Hey," she said, placing the phone between her ear and her shoulder.

"Hey, love. Done for the day?" He asked.

"Yes. I'm about to go home,"

"Okay, I'm outside,"

A small smile crept on her face. "Really?" She asked.

"Yeah. I'm waiting for you,"

"I'll be down soon," she replied and the call ended.

She picked up bag, ready to leave when Liam walked towards her. "All set?" He asked.

She nodded. "Yes,"

"Alright, I'll take you home,"

"Um, you shouldn't bother. Cole's waiting for me,"

"Oh," Liam replied, a little bit disappointed. "Alright,"

"Good night," she said with a smile and Liam nodded, returning her smile as he watched her leave.

Amy got outside the building and saw Cole leaning on his car, waiting for her. She hurriedly walked towards him and he looked in her direction. As their eyes met, a smile spread across his face and how infectious it was as she smiled back.

She walked into his outstretched arms. "Hey, love," he said, hugging her close.

"How was work?" She asked him.

"Couldn't concentrate. Kept thinking of you all day," he replied.

She smiled and playfully punched his chest. "Teaser,"

He chuckled. "If only you know the thoughts that runs through my head,"

"Is it safe to say we should let down the walls surrounding the mate bond so we could hear each other's thought?" She asked, looking at him.

"You know you can only hear mine when you let down yours. For mine has always been opened,"

She smiled. "Okay," and he kissed her forehead. Now, she trusted him a lot more to let him hear her thoughts.

Shantel fumed around the house. "There's no way I'll let that lowlife omega take away Cole," she said as she slapped her phone repeatedly on her palm. "I'll rather die than see them together," she added bitterly.
