Chapter 82: Chapter 82

Amy walked into the apartment and slouched on the couch. "I'm so tired," she sighed.

"Sorry, bestie. I've made today very tiring for you," Kayla said, sitting beside her.

Amy closed her eyes and patted Kayla's hand. "It's fine. Anything for my best friend," she responded.

"Mom, I'm going to bed," Tris said, walking towards his room.

"Brush your teeth first, Tris,"

"Yes, mom," Tris dragged as he walked into his room.

Amy inhaled deeply and opened her eyes as she turned in Kayla's direction. "Just a few days left and you won't be living with us anymore,"

"Aww, Amy, don't say that,"

"But, it's the truth. I'm going to miss your presence here,"

"I'll miss you too, but, you also won't be here anymore. Cole will take you and Tris to live with him,"

Amy sighed. "I wish,"

Kayla nudged her. "Come on. Be positive,"

"I am positive. I just know it's not going to be any time soon, Kay. There's a lot of obstacles in our way,"

"By obstacles, you mean, Shantel?" Kayla asked and Amy nodded. "Come on, Amy. You're the fated mate of Cole Darrel, given to him by the moon goddess. A common girlfriend can not take that place,"

Amy was bewildered by Kayla's sudden support of her relationship with Cole. "What happened, Kay?"

Kayla raised a brow. "What do you mean?"

"It feels like you're on Cole's side," Amy said.

"Honestly, I'm not. I just want you to be happy. These past few months, I saw a different glow in you, Amy. I just wanted to be sure if it's really because of him, even though I still have my reservations," Kayla replied.

Amy gave her a weary smile. "Thank you for being an amazing friend,"

Kayla smiled. "Let's reserve all that compliment for the wedding," she said and Amy chuckled.

Amy walked into Liam's office, holding some files. "Good morning, sir," she greeted formally.

"Amy, haven't we talked about this sir of a thing? I'm not some old grumpy boss, you know," Liam admonished her.

She smiled. "Sorry. It's just that it feels new any time I resume on a Monday morning," she said.

"Alright," he replied, leaning forward. "What do you have for me this morning?" He asked as she placed the files on the desk.

"The analyst department brought this in this morning for you to review," she said.

" Alright," Liam responded as he looked through the file. His mind was barely on the file. He so badly wanted to ask if she was back together with Cole. "So, how was your weekend?" He asked as he ticked some columns.

She smiled. "Pretty splendid. Aside from the hectic preparations for Kayla's wedding, everything went well," she replied.

"Hmm, nice," he said with an amused smile as he leaned back in his seat. "And Cole? How are you two holding up?" He asked.

"Pretty well," she replied, still maintaining her smile.

He nodded. "Great," he said as he stood up, adjusting his suit. "We have a place to be in, in the next two hours,"

"Where?" She asked, a bit puzzled.

"Darrel's Corp," he responded as he walked away from his seat, heading towards the door. He promised himself that he was going to be happy seeing Amy and Cole together, but seeing the way she smiled and her response, his heart ached very much to his displeasure.

Amy was bewildered. Darrel's Corp was Cole's company. Why was Liam going there? "What for?" She asked as she followed behind him closely.

"We've got a business proposal, Amy. Besides, can't I go visit my best friend?" He asked.

"Well... I didn't say you couldn't," she replied, trying to regain her composure.

"Well then, enough with the questions and get your bag. Meet me in the car in five minutes," Liam said as he got into the elevator.

Amy nodded and went back to her office. She picked up her bag and still in a confused state, she hurried to catch the next elevator.

Liam was getting into the car when she exited the building.

She got into the car, seated beside him. "That was fast," he said.

"There was nothing much to do anyways," she replied with a shrug.

"Here's the business proposal," he said, handing over to her a document. "It's a ten years contract deal between Cole's company and mine, only to be renewed if we deem it fit. A ten years supply of gadgets to the Corp while we get to be part of the shareholders in his company,"

"Okay," Amy looked through the documents. "It's a good proposal. Are you sure Cole will accept it?"

"I'm his best friend," Liam replied, staring at him.

"Does that count?" Amy asked, staring back.

He looked away. "If it will interest you, Cole and I came up with this some months back. This is the final draft that needs both our signatures," he said.

"Alright," Amy replied and looked out the window.

The rest of the ride to Cole's company was a silent one. They finally arrived and got into the company. As they approached Cole's office, they could hear his voice at the top of his lungs.

"This is totally unacceptable! What kind of incompetence is this?!" Cole demanded.

"I'm sorry, sir.. I.. " the female pleaded.

"You're fired!" Cole barked at her.

"Please, sir..."

"Take it easy on the poor fellow, Cole," Liam said, walking into his office with Amy behind him. She swallowed hard. She had never seen Cole this angry before.

"Get out of my office," he said to the woman. She was about to speak, but one look from Cole, revealing his wolf eyes, she scampered away. "She wants me to go bankrupt," he groaned as he sat back on his chair.

Liam chuckled. "A little more patience will do,"

"Easy for you to say. You're not the one losing millions," Cole said with a sigh.

"Well.. " Liam began to say as he walked towards the opposite chair, but was interrupted by Cole as his eyes fell on Amy.

"Hey, love," He was surprised to see her. His eyes crinkled from the smile he had on his lips. Suddenly, all of his anger dissipated. "Fancy seeing you here in my office,"

Amy gave a small smile. "We're here for a business proposal," she replied. Amy wondered why she sounded so formal with a man she spent the weekend with.

Cole raised a brow. "Shall I have a look?" He asked.

Amy was holding the documents in her hands and she advanced towards him.

"Bring it. I'll go over it with him," Liam said, already seated.

"There's no need. I believe you think her as competent," Cole replied, more of a challenge and Liam shrugged and laid back.

Amy took a deep breath and got to where Cole was. She was standing beside him.

"I'll like to hear this proposal," Cole said.

"Well, Hemsworth Tech have proposed to supply you gadgets for... " She paused, unable to continue as she felt Cole's hand inside her skirt, on her thigh.

He had an amused smile on his lips. "Go on,"

Amy swallowed. "Ten years," she said as he stroked her thigh. "And in return..." Amy bit her lower lip as his fingers caressed her core. She was unable to keep going as her fingers tightened on the desk.
