Chapter 81: Chapter 81

Amy smiled as she snuggled in the warmth and scent Cole's clothes created as the gamma drove them to Paul's pack. She thought of their moments together and wished it was something that would last. She was Cole's mate, but still she felt very wrong about this and also insecure. They got to Paul's pack and Kayla was outside waiting for them. The gamma pulled up and stepped down, opening the car door for Amy and Tris.

"Thank you," Amy said to him.

He nodded with a firm smile and closing the car door, he got back to the driver's seat, roared the engine back to life and drove away.

"Hmm- hm, pulling up in a Maserati I see," Kayla teased, all full of smiles and Amy chuckled.

"Aunt Kayla!" Tris said excited as he ran up to her.

"Tris, my baby. Did you miss me?" She asked as she hugged him close.

"I did," he replied with a smile.

She kissed his cheek. "I missed you too,"

She straightened up and her attention fell on Amy's hoodies. "Cole's?" She asked, raising a brow with an amused smile.

"Long story," Amy replied with a chuckle.

"Come on, let's go. We'll talk about it as we fuss on what hairdo I'll have on in a week time," Kayla said as she held Tris hand and walked into the pack house with Amy behind them.

"Why are you looking like you've seen a ghost?" Shantel asked as she brushed Cole aside and walked in with her suitcase. "Did you not miss me?" She asked.

Cole regained his composure and he turned around as he closed the door. "What are you doing here?" He asked, going after her.

She spun around quickly with raised brows. "What kind of question is that, Cole? We've lived together before while we were expecting our child. Besides, this is my fiance's house and I have every right to be here," she replied with a perturbed smile.

"I wasn't expecting you back so soon," Cole said, staring at her. He was very disturbed by her presence.

"Why? Have you been up to any mischief lately?" She asked as she walked closer to him and all he did was stare at her. "Well, that's all about to end," she said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "All those frolicking you've been doing with those lowlifes, ends now. Cause I'm back and back for good," she said and leaned closer to kiss him.

Cole pulled away and took her arms off his neck. "We need to talk, Shan," he said, knowing it was now or never.

Liam twirled his phone in his hand as he pondered on calling Amy and thinking of what exactly to say to her on a weekend. It was Eleven Am already and he knew she would be up and about.

He just wanted to hear her voice, listen to her speak even though he had nothing to say. He sighed as a thought crossed his mind. What if she has patched things up with Cole, wouldn't that means he was intruding? He wondered.

He groaned as he placed his head on the couch. Why couldn't she just be his?

He finally summoned up courage to ask her to dinner as he dialled her number. She picked at the third ring. "Hello?" She said, so formally.

Just as he was about to speak he heard Tris voice at the background. "Mom, I want to go back to daddy's house today,"

Liam swallowed hard as he dropped the call. His heart ached that once again, Cole had taken Amy away from him.

~~~~~
Shantel knew exactly what Cole wanted to say, but she didn't want to give him that chance. She would have come sooner, but her flight had been delayed. She walked towards her suitcase. "What ever you have to say, I don't want to hear it now. I need rest. I had a long trip," she said as she grabbed the handle of her suitcase and started to walk away.
"This isn't working anymore," Cole said and Shantel stopped abruptly.
She turned around and stared at him. "What did you say?"
"You and I know we've hit the rocks since you had that miscarriage and it worsened when you stayed back in New York,"
"I was pursuing my god damned career, Cole,"
"I do not hold that against you. What I am saying is, we can't be together anymore,"
"You can't be serious. Why?" She demanded.
"You pretty much know why. In fact, that's the reason why you're here,"
Shantel let go of the suitcase in anger. "Because of her?!"
"Because of everything," Cole replied, calmly.
"What do you mean everything? I've been with you since our highschool days. Ten fucking good years if I'm not mistaking and this is what you get to tell me?!" Shantel was raving mad.
"You denied me on national TV!"
"We agreed to keep the relationship on low profile!"
"Not to the point of denial, god-damnit!"
"This is all your fault. If you had not said we should keep our relationship private, I would not have said that!"
"You didn't see the point to correct your statement immediately or a few days later. You decided to go public immediately you got wind of me being involved with another woman,"
"Why would I sit back and watch a woman from nowhere come and snatch my man from me?!" She asked in anger and bitterness.
"She's not just any woman, Shantel. She's my mate and the mother of my child," Cole replied in a steadfast tendency as he narrowed his eyes at her.
Shantel was taken aback, shocked by the revelation she just heard. She had hoped and hoped Cole would one day be mated to her. Unknown to her, he was mated to someone already.
She straightened her back. "Your father is already discussing our wedding with my father. I have decided we would get married in a week,"
He stared at her like she had finally lost it. "It seems like you don't get it. My father is no longer on your side concerning the so called marriage, you're proposing. We're not getting married, Shantel. This has gone on for way too long. I'm sorry you had to find out about this, this way. This relationship has long being dead and it's time we end it," he said.
"No. You can't break up with me, Cole," she replied and as a tear dropped down her cheek, she quickly wiped it off with the back of her hand. "I refuse to accept this," she said fiercely, staring at him.
