Chapter 83: Chapter 83
"And?" Cole asked, urging her on. He knew the effect he had on her, yet he was playing dumb.
Liam noticed something was amiss. "I don't think she's very comfortable going through this with you. I'll take it from here," he said, despite the fact that he wasn't aware of what was going on.
"Yes, I think that's better," Amy said, straightening up and Cole withdrew his hand from her thighs with a smile.
Amy walked away and stood behind Liam. Her legs were shaking as she tried to control them. While Cole went through the proposal with Liam, his eyes were on her, which made her more uncomfortable. Her cheeks were becoming beet red.
Cole's smile became cocky the more he looked at her.
'I can't wait to have you in my arms again and put you in positions that I can't get out of my head,' Cole thought and Amy heard him.
She gasped inaudibly. 'I can hear you!' she yelled telepathically to him.
He was surprised, but instead of sealing her out of his thoughts, he smirked. 'Isn't that wonderful? At least you get to know how badly I want to fuck you. Tease you. Have my fingers buried.. '
Amy went pink. 'Stop it,'
But, he didn't. 'Inside your pussy. Feel your wetness on my fingers as you cum for me,'
Amy swallowed hard, feeling his words turn her on as she pushed her hair behind her ear.
"Cole, are you listening?" Liam asked.
"Uh, yeah," Cole replied, absentmindedly. Liam gave him an unbelieving look. Cole straightened up and picked the document.
Amy sighed in relief as his eyes were no longer on hers.
"I'll go through this once more and get back to you soon," Cole said to Liam.
"How soon? We've discussed this before,"
"One can never be too careful, can they?" Cole asked with a skeptical smile.
"Alright. Give me a call once you're done," Liam said and Cole nodded. "Since that's all, I'll be leaving now," he added as he stood up.
"Okay, but Amy stays," Cole said and Amy was taken aback.
Liam narrowed his eyes. "She's on duty, you know?"
"Don't your staffs take breaks?" Cole asked with a raised brow as he leaned in his seat.
Liam gave a tight-lipped smile. "I understand that she's your mate, but this is working hours, Cole. I'm sure there's plenty of time for you to be with her once she's done for the day,"
Cole was about to argue when Amy narrowed her eyes at him. Stubbornly, he resigned. "I'll walk you both out," he said as he stood up.
Liam nodded. "Much better,"
Cole refrained Amy from walking before Liam. Liam was before them as Cole stole a kiss from Amy on her cheek. She blushed as they got out of the office together, his hand on her waist.
"Alright, until next time, brother," Liam said and he noticed Cole's hand around Amy's waist.
"Cool," Cole smiled as he let go of Amy. "I'll pick you up after work," he said to her.
"Alright," she responded with a smile.
Suddenly, Shantel walked up to them. "Hey, sugar," she said as she walked right up to Cole and kissed him on the lips.
Amy was frozen to the spot as she never imagined that she would one day meet Shantel and worse of all, her lips were on Cole's!
Cole was unable to respond to the surprise kiss and when he finally got hold of himself, he pulled away abruptly. "What are you doing here?" He asked her.
"What kind of question is that? I'm here to see my baby of course," Shantel replied, drawing closer to him, as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
He took her hands off his neck. "You need to leave,"
She turned around, noticing Liam. "Liam, dear, how good to see you. You haven't changed one bit," she said with a smile.
Liam forced a smile. "Good to see you too, Shantel,"
Her eyes fell on Amy and she stared hard at her. "I know you," she said, walking closer to Amy. "You're that nonetity frolicking social media with my fiancee," she said.
"Shantel," Cole called her name, warningly.
Amy swallowed. She didn't know what to say. "She's with me, Shantel," Liam said, pulling Amy to his side.
"Do you now hire paupers too?" Shantel sneered.
"That's enough," Cole said, almost using his alpha's voice on her.
Amy wanted to run away, but her legs wouldn't give way.
There's a saying that life hits you hard when you least expect it and it does that in a way that if one lacks the rigidity to hold it in, one could easily be broken by it.
Amy did not expect to be thrown down to the floor like a discarded rag but she was caught off guard. If a witch had told her that this was going to happen, she would have immediately declined even though it meant losing her job. She would rather lose her job than lose her mind.
But here she was, facing the brunt of something that wasn't the cause of her actions.
Let's go Amy," Liam said to her and she began to walk away. "See you soon Cole." He said to Cole and Cole just stared at him.
"Amy, wait," Cole said after her, but she didn't flinch. She kept her head high, promising herself not to break.
Cole attempted to follow her, but Shantel held him back. "If you take a step forward, the story on the media would be how you cheated on your poor fiancee," she threatened.

Liam followed Amy into the elevator and as they walked through the hallway, they could hear the gossips going on about her. She was silent even till when they got into the car.
"Are you okay?" He finally asked her as they drove back to the office.
"I'm fine." She said simply, but she did not sound fine. It was obvious she was trying her best to mask what was going on with her.
"If you want to go home now, I can let you. There's no much thing to do anyways." Liam said to her, but she shook her head declining his suggestion.
"I'm really fine, Liam. You do not need to worry about me." She said looking out the window.
He did not stress the issue any further but he knew deep down, she was not fine.
•
Amy lost focus the moment she got back to work. She could hardly hold the coffee in her hands and she fumbled with the files. If Liam was not a friend of hers, she was sure he would have fired her.
Nobody would tolerate her clumsiness in his shoes but he did and the person behind her mood was yet to contact her.
Amy stop, she kept telling herself. She was only hurting herself more with these but what could she do? There was no escaping it. No escaping the pain. There would be always a constant reminder that she was fated to a man who had another woman.
Why was the moon goddess testing her in such manner?
Why was he coming to shake her little world? She was fine without him, still fine without him. She tried to assure herself, but his presence, oh goodness! The moon goddess help her from going mad with worry!
She covered her face with her hands. was confused. She did not know what to do. She had no idea at all too. She didn't know if she should vent, cry or...she sighed audibly, puffed and placed her head on the table. Why did her heart feel like it was being ripped to pieces?
Maybe she should have gone home.
When it was time to leave the office, she quickly picked up her bag and left without informing Liam. He would insist on taking her home and might question her and she did not want that. Most of all, she was escaping from Cole, just in case he drops by the office. She had turned off her phone purposely.
She got out of the company's building and luckily for her, she found a taxi on time. She got into the taxi and placed her head on the window as the taxi drove towards the red light.
Her thoughts were still yet to be settled. They were in disarray. All merged up together and refusing to be sorted out.
Her mind replayed back Shantel's lips on Cole's and the tears she was fighting so hard to conceal, choked her throat.
Just when she thought she would have a good ride home and bury herself in the arms of her son, she saw someone standing in front of her porch. She stepped out of the taxi and as the taxi drove away, the woman turned.
"What the hell is she doing here?" Amy muttered as her eyes met Shantel's.
