Chapter 127: Chapter 127
*A year later*
“Mommy, Alexia is making funny faces at me!” Tris called out from the living room. Alexia, his baby sister giggled in her cot.
Amy sighed as she lifted her head from the laptop her eyes were glued on. This was the fifth time Tris was calling her attention to his sister. “She’s just having fun with you,” she replied. Can a baby barely six months make funny faces? She wondered.
“Stick out your tongue at me again, and I’ll tickle you,” Tris threatened her in a playful tone. As if she heard him, she did stick out her tongue at him and he tickled her. She giggled and babbled.
Amy smiled as she watched them. It’s been a year since they left Louisiana for Paris, and life has been blissful since then. Everything was perfect and they were at peace. There was no sign of Shantel or anyone who would hurt her and her family. She was thankful for that decision Cole took to leave Louisiana for her sake. His company was ran efficiently by Greg who always updated him on the company’s affairs. He had conference calls and meetings all the way from Paris just because he didn’t want to go back to Louisiana.
She and Kayla spoke literally every day, and she gets to speak with Tris and see Alexis. Though, Kayla was sad that she couldn’t hold Alexis, she understood why Amy couldn’t bring her to New Orleans. Maybe someday, when she was all grown up.
Amy reminisced on the past and how far she and Cole had come. She inhaled deeply as she went back to her laptop. She was working on a design for her company. Yes, she owned a fashion company right here in Paris and with the help of her husband, Cole, it had really flourished.
Thinking of Cole, she wondered when he would come home. He was running the branch of his company that he had set up here a few years ago without most people knowing about it. Maybe he was stuck in traffic, Amy thought as she pushed back her glasses and continued to work on her design.
Amy checked the time and saw that it was past Seven. She quickly closed her laptop and went over to the kitchen to make dinner. She cooked some potatoes, chicken curry and rice. By the time she was done, it was half past Eight. As she was setting the dining, she heard Tris thrilled voice. “Dad, you’re back,”
She smiled.
“Yes, kiddo,” Cole replied as he swung him into his arms. Tris giggled.
Alexia babbled as Cole put Tris down. “D-ddd..” she clapped her tiny hands.
Cole beamed with smiles as he went over to her cot and picked her up. “Hey, princess. Did you miss me?” He asked as he kissed her cheek.
She smiled toothless at him and said incoherent words. Cole grinned. “You did miss me,”
He felt so blessed to have Alexia in his life, for she was a replica of the woman he loved.
He walked over to the dining table with Alexia in his arms and Tris beside him. Amy looked up at him and smiled. “Hey hun. Just at the right time,” she said.
He smiled lovingly at her. Alexia had Amy’s eyes. Those round brown orbs that magnets anyone to them.
“Hey, love,” he said and kissed her forehead when he got closer to her. “How was your day?” He asked.
“It was okay. How was yours?”
“Went pretty well until I was caught in traffic,” he replied.
“I thought as much,” she said as she took Alexia from him. “Why don’t you go freshen up and come down for dinner?” She asked with a smile.
Alexia made noises that she wanted to go back to her dad, as she stretched her arms towards him.
Amy chuckled. “A daddy’s girl, uh?”
Cole grinned. “You’ve got Tris, so don’t be jealous,” he replied as he kissed Alexia’s hands. “Don’t worry, Allie, daddy will be back shortly,” he said sweetly to her.
She gave him sad eyes as she placed her head close to Amy’s shoulder. “Aww, don’t be sad,” Amy petted. She turned to Cole. “Hurry up and come take your princess,”
“Yes, my queen,” Cole replied with a chuckle as he went up the stairs.
“Everybody is getting royalty names except me. I’m literally shaking my head,” Tris said.
“You’re my prince!” Cole said from up the stairs.
“I know,” Tris’s head swelled. “I just wanted to hear you say it,”
Amy chuckled and pulled his cheek. “Oh you. What will I ever do without you?”
He grinned. “Nothing, mom,”
She laughed.
Soon, Cole was back down stairs and the whole family had dinner together.

The next morning, Cole received a disturbing call with not so great news. “Alright,” he said, and ended the call as he stood near the window.
Amy got out of the shower, and as she toweled her hair dry, she noticed him by the window looking moody.
“Is everything alright?” She asked as she moved closer to him.
He looked away from the window and looked at her. How was he going to break the news to her?
“Cole…” She said gently as she touched his arm. “Talk to me. What is it?” She asked.
He sighed. “It’s my father. He’s very sick,” he replied.
She gasped softly. “Oh my. Has he been taken to the hospital?” She asked.
He nodded. “He’s currently there. He has slipped into coma. I’ve been asked to come home. The pack needs an alpha,” he replied, which was literally him.
Amy didn’t know what to say to him. Just when she thought things could get way better…
He walked away from the window and sat on the bed. He heaved deeply.
“How long has he been sick?” Amy asked.
“For a while now. I’ve been getting calls and messages concerning his deteriorating health, but I said nothing caused I believe the doctors could handle it,” Cole raked his fingers through his hair and than ran his hands over his face.
“I don’t want to go back there,” he began to say. “I know the pain and hurt living back there had caused you because of me. The torments and trauma you had to go through..”
“Cole..” she sighed as she walked over to him and crouched on her knees.
He looked at her, and she could see the naked pain in his eyes. “I don’t want anything to happen to any of you. If anything happens, I could die, Amy,” his voice cracked.
She held his face. “Your people needs you. Our people, needs us. You’ve been away for a year which is a time frame not suitable for an alpha to be away from his people. You’ll go back to Louisiana,”
“What if…” he looked downcast.
“Look at me,” she said, and he did. “Nothing will happen. I’m sure of it,”
“How about you stay back here with the kids, and I would go back to Louisiana and try to appoint someone else as the alpha. Someone like Greg. He’s very capable and…” he began to say in anxiety.
“No, Cole,” she cut him short. “If you do such a thing, do you think your father would be happy? He might not have been a good father to you, but we saw him portray that figure in Tris’s life. You come from a lineage of alphas. Don’t end that lifeline at this junction because of me. Don’t disappoint your father,” Amy encouraged him.
“Amy..” Cole was still very unsure. For all he knows, Shantel might begin her antics again once they were back in Louisiana.
“Everything will be fine,” she assured him even though she was so unsure of what she was saying. She placed her head on his. He has sacrificed so much for her, she believed it was time she did so too.
