Chapter 125: Chapter 125
Amy was shocked to see Cole sitting on a chair and looking directly at her. No sinister looks. Just a plain boyish grin on his face.
“Cole,” she finally voiced out her shock.
“In your very eyes, love,” he responded.
“What.. what do you think you’re doing?” She asked, narrowing her eyes at him. She had thought he didn’t give a hoot about her marriage to Liam, but it turned out that he did.
Cole motioned to the gamma beside her to untie the rope joining her and Tris’s hands together. The gamma did so, and Tris got up and raced over to his father, not caring if he was the one that kidnapped them.
“I knew you wouldn’t let mommy marry that man,” he said, smiling.
Cole ruffled his hair, returning his smile. “Well, how could I? She’s the love of my life. I couldn’t possibly let any man take my family away from me,” he said.
He turned to the gamma. “Take him with you, and give him whatever he needs,”
Tris beamed and turned to look at his mother. “You’ll be alright, as long as you’re with dad,” he said and walked away with the gamma. “I want some chocolate chip ice cream and..” Tris began to make his demands as he got out of the house.
Amy was horrid as she watched the interchange between father and son. Tris wasn’t even angry at his father for kidnapping them. His fear had immediately vanished when he saw his father. It was as if he knew all along!
“What the hell are you doing, Cole?” Amy demanded again. This time, more angrier than before.
He rubbed his fingers in circular motion, with his elbow propped up the arm of the chair. “Isn’t it obvious? I’m stopping you from getting married,” he replied tenderly.
She stood up from the floor. She realized they were in an apartment. It must be one of his properties.
“You must be joking,” she flared up.
“Do I look like I am?” He fired back as he stood up, towering above her. “Do you think after spending a whole year with you, I would just toss it away and let another man take you away from me?” He demanded. His voice was filled with anger and hurt. Seeing her in her wedding dress even pissed him off the more.
Amy shuddered as she took a step back. “I told you it was over,” she said, her voice choking with emotions.
“I gave you time to come to your senses. To realize you’re made for me, but no, you didn’t. I didn’t give you all those space just for you to get hooked up with Liam,” he replied, venting out all the bottled emotions he had kept in.
She swallowed. “Liam has done me wrong,”
“Then, have I?” He asked, and she stared at him, unable to speak. “I’m fucking flawed, Amy. I know that, and I try to be a better person for you. For us. For Tris. But, no. You don’t see that. You see only my flaws, and not the efforts I’m putting in to be better,”
“It’s not really you, Cole. It’s your past! Your past keeps hovering over us like a dark cloud. Since I left you, I’ve been at peace. No Shantel. No bad thing happening to me,”
“I can’t undo what harm Shantel has caused. If it’s the accident, I don’t know how true it is that she’s responsible,”
“ She is. I feel it in my guts that she is. She wants me out of your life. Just let me go, Cole,” she pleaded in a teary voice.
He held her shoulders and almost shook her. “Don’t you get it? I can’t. I thought I could, but I couldn’t,”
“Cole..”
“All my life I have been a disappointment to my father, and now to you. I couldn’t shield you from the harms Shantel brought your way, I couldn’t protect you,” he began, his own voice tearing up and tears streamed down Amy’s eyes.
“I couldn’t protect our unborn child, and that hurts me the more,” he said as he let go of her and tried to steady his voice. He walked over to the window and looked outside. The sun was about to set. “During my childhood days, I disappointed my father in everything I did. In every aspect of my life, he wasn’t a father figure. He was never there, but still found a way to torture me for my mistakes. I can still remember the nights of endless beatings and torture. He would whip me and wouldn’t stop till I had blood flowing from my body. To him, he was taming me. To me, he marred me for life,”
Amy watched him speak and how her heart throbbed hard for this man.
“The beatings always happened in my room, and the silence that follows after is something I could not forget. It got worse when I turned eighteen with no mate. A mateless alpha couldn’t rule, and a mateless alpha was seen as weak. Acting cockily in the midst of other alphas earned me severe whips too. The beatings didn’t stop till I got the opportunity to flee to New York, but then Shantel had ruined it all by coming to tell my father she was pregnant. I was forced back here,”
Amy could hardly believe Mr Darrel was such a man. Torturing his own son like that. It made her realize why he had nightmares just by sleeping at the pack house.
“Eventually, the torture stopped. Maybe because Shantel was expecting a child, but it did stop and he never continued. Still, we never saw eye to eye. Not until, he found out about Tris. I can see he’s trying to fix his mistakes by been there for Tris and treating him better than he ever treated me,” he said and turned to look at her.
“I’m not telling you this so you can take me back. I’m saying all these so you’ll know how flawed I am beyond the surface. Maybe not having a mother around who died while giving birth to me or an absentee father made me this way, but I promised myself that I would always be in my children’s lives. I would not abandon them,” he said as he walked closer to her.
He held her hands. “Please, do not throw away this beautiful thing that we have over my past,” he pleaded, his eyes had tears reflecting him them.
“Do you know how much it hurt me knowing that another man would hold these hands?” He asked as he looked down at her slender fingers. “Kiss these lips?” He said as he gingerly caressed her lips with his finger. “Hold this body?” He placed his hand on her waist.
These little touches ignited a fire in her and she knew nobody could make her feel this way, except him.
“Amy, I could die if you’re with another,” he said, gazing into her eyes.
Amy realized he didn’t judge her for her past showing up and abducting her. He didn’t leave her even when Jeremy showed up. She didn’t know when she began to sob. She was so confused. Have she been so selfish? Cole always risked it all for her, has she really ever done the same?
He wiped her tears. “Don’t cry. It breaks me to see you this way,”
She hugged him tight. “I’m so sorry,” she apologized as she sobbed on his chest.
He stroked her hair. “I’m the one who should be sorry, for making you go through all that just for loving a flawed man like me,”
She sobbed a few more on his chest and then pulled away when she felt drowsy. “I feel so…” She slumped, but he held her tightly before she could hit the ground.
“Amy,” he called in panic as she closed her eyes.

Liam, Kathy, and Kayla rushed into the hospital and hurried over to the hallway, where they saw Cole pacing about. He had called Kayla when he was driving Amy to the hospital earlier on.
“You bastard! I knew you were responsible for her kidnap,” Liam raved as he grabbed Cole’s shirt. Who would have thought a woman could cause a rift in their friendship.
Cole held his hands and flung them away.
“What nonsense are you uttering? Don’t you think he was the one who saved her?” Kayla demanded.
“I know he didn’t,” Liam replied angrily.
“My daughter is laying in an hospital bed and you’re here fighting. Shame on you,” Kathy spat out at Liam, and he backed away from Cole.
“How’s she?” Kayla asked.
“The doctor isn’t out yet,” Cole replied.
“And Tris?” Kathy asked.
“He’s with the gamma in the car,” Cole responded.
“How did you find her?” Liam asked, daring Cole to lie.
Cole was about to respond when the doctor came out. The doctor was different from the one that attended to Amy when she had an accident. This time around, the doctor was a woman.
“How’s she?” Cole moved closer to her.
She smiled. “Who’s the husband?” She asked.
“I am,” Cole and Liam said in unison. The doctor stared at them in confusion as Cole and Liam gave each other dagger glares.
“Doc, he’s her mate,” Kayla interceded as she pointed at Cole. “And he’s supposed to get married to her today,” she pointed at Liam. “I’m her best friend, and this is her mother. Just tell us already,” she added.
The doctor didn’t want to get involved in the messy triangle. She nodded. “She’s perfect. She’s just exhausted. The baby is in good condition too,”
“What baby?” Cole asked. He was dumbfounded, and so was Liam.
“She’s pregnant,”
“What?” Cole didn’t believe his ears. Was Amy sleeping with Liam? He pondered and he felt his head ache at the thought.
“Yes, if you’ll excuse me,” the doctor said, taking her leave to avoid the drama.
“Pregnant?” Kathy reechoed.
“She’s carrying my child,” Liam said.
“What?” Cole and Kayla exclaimed as they looked at him.
“Yes,” Liam affirmed as he stared at Cole.
“No, she isn’t,” Kayla shut him up.
Cole looked at her. “What in the moon goddess name is going on?”
“Amy’s pregnant, but not for Liam. It’s for you. She did a test this morning and confirmed to me that it was your child,” she said to Cole.
“She texted me this morning that she had something important to tell me,” Liam replied.
“She wanted to tell you she was carrying Cole’s child and ask you if you would still get married to her that way,” Kayla hissed at him. She was so exhausted getting caught between these two men.
“I know you’re making fables because you don’t like me. Amy and I have been together and the baby is mine!” Liam raised his voice.
“Amy had no sexual intimacy with you!” Kayla fired back.
“She did!” Liam retorted and the second the words came out of his mouth, Cole punched him hard on the face, leading to his fall.
“Don’t talk about being with my woman like that,” Cole said in anger as he watch blood splutter from Liam’s mouth.
