Chapter 124: Chapter 124
*Two weeks later*
Amy stood in front of the mirror, staring at her reflection. Today was her wedding with Liam Hemsworth. In a few hours, she would become Mrs Darrel. These past two weeks had been pretty rough for her. From the media scandal to Tris tantrums about the wedding, she had thought she would find herself returning Liam’s ring, but she didn’t. Liam had control of the media, and every negative thing said about her was immediately removed.
Tris had cried and locked himself in his room when she had told him she was getting married to Liam. No amount of “it’s for the best” got him to stop crying. He had proceeded to call his father, and Cole had been so calm about it, ensuring him that Amy’s marriage to Liam wouldn’t stop him from coming to see him.
Despite his father’s assurance, it still didn’t sit right with Tris. But, his tantrum reduced even though he refused to speak to Amy.
Staring at her wedding dress in the mirror, a part of Amy wanted Cole to stop her from getting married to Liam. Every now and then, She would look at her phone hoping to get a call or a text from him, but there was none. She sighed heavily and placed her hand on her head as she felt a nagging headache.
“Are you okay?” Kayla asked, coming over to her.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just this nagging headache,” Amy replied.
“Take a seat first,” Kayla said as she made Amy sit down. She examined her friend. “Have you noticed any changes in you yet?” She asked.
Amy narrowed her eyes. “What kind of changes?”
“When last did you see your period?” Kayla asked, more defined.
Amy began to think as she scrunched her eyes. “I really can’t tell. I haven’t really had the time to think of my period,”
Kayla’s eyes widened in shock. “Let’s get you tested,”
“What the hell, Kay? What are you thinking?”
“If my guess is correct, you’re pregnant,” Kayla replied as she went searching for the pregnancy test kit.
“You’ve got to be kidding me. Pregnant for who?”
Kayla found the kit and walked over to Amy. “You tell me,” she said as she placed the thermometer in Amy’s hand.
“Kay, I’m not…” Amy was hesitant.
“Just do it,” Kayla cut her short.
“Fine. I’ll prove to you that I’m not pregnant,” Amy replied as she walked over to the bathroom.
She did the test and in a minute, the result showed. Seeing the two lines marked on it, she immediately panicked as she rushed out of the bathroom.
“No, no, Kayla. I can’t be pregnant,” she said, placing her hand over her mouth as she handed the test thermometer to her.
Kayla gave her an I knew it look. “So, you’ve been sleeping with him, uh?”
Amy stared at her in shock. “No! I can’t believe you would think that,” she sounded disappointed.
“I’m sorry, but, in what other way can you explain this?”
“I did not sleep with Liam,”
“Neither did you sleep with Cole since you lost the baby. In fact you two broke up since then,” Kayla stated.
Amy placed her hands on her face. “Oh my goodness,”
“Except,” Kayla began to think deeply. “Maybe you didn’t really lose the first pregnancy,”
Amy stared at her bewildered. “What? How is that possible?”
“I don’t know, maybe the baby hid or maybe it was a set of twins. I’m just stating my theory,” Kayla replied.
Amy panicked. “I’m getting married to Liam today, I can’t be pregnant for Cole,” she began to hyperventilate.
“Breathe, Amy, breathe,” Kayla said, holding her.
Amy finally calmed down.
“You should call Cole,” Kayla suggested.
“And tell him what?” Amy demanded.
“That you’re having his baby,” Kayla frowned at her.
“How’s that going to sound to him? He would think I’m trying to trap him to be with me. It’s been four months, Kayla. How do I explain it?” Amy shook her head. “I can’t do it,”
“Fine, I’ll do it,” Kayla said as she took Amy’s phone and dialed Cole’s number. It rang and rang, but nobody answered. She dialed his number a couple of times and he still didn’t pick up. “He’s not answering,” she said, and Amy’s heart sank. “I don’t expect him to answer you though,” Kayla said as she picked up her phone and called Cole. He still didn’t answer. “Hell, he must really want to stay away from you,”
“I asked him to,” Amy said as she stood up and straightened her shoulders. “We’re late for my wedding,” she added as she adjusted her dress.
“For real? You still want to get married?” Kayla asked in shock.
“Yes. I’ll text Liam on the way and tell him I’m pregnant,” she replied.
Kayla couldn’t believe her ears. Her friend was going through lengths to get over Cole, to the extent of getting married to another with his pregnancy! “Okay,” was all she could say. Nothing else would change her mind.
They got to the car and when Tris saw his mom in a dress that wasn’t for his dad, he looked away without complimenting her. Amy sighed. Tris followed his grandmother into one car while Amy and Kayla got into another. Even Kathy wasn’t happy with Amy’s decision, but she respected it.
Amy texted Liam. “There’s something I want to tell you,”
Liam was just entering the hall premises when he got Amy’s text. He fidgeted. Did she want to cancel on him?
“Tell me after the wedding,” he texted back. He didn’t want to lose her, not after he was this close to making her his.
“It’s really important,” she texted, but he closed his phone and pretended he didn’t get the text.
Amy sighed when she got no response from him.
Just then, their car was overtaken by another and men on masks came out of the car and rounded theirs. Shrieks filled everywhere.
They were forced out of the car with only Amy and Tris taken away as captives.
Kathy and Kayla panicked as they began to call everyone they knew.
•
“What? Kidnapped?” Liam was alarmed as he got a call from Kayla. “Did you see their faces?”
“No, they were masked,” Kayla replied in a panic voice.
“Hang on,” he said as he ended the call and got into another. He called the office. “Pull up the cameras on oak street,” he ordered and ended the call.
Mr Darrel got a call from Kathy concerning Amy’s kidnap, but he retained his composure. He had told himself that if Cole did nothing to stop this wedding, he would stop it himself. An accepted Luna of the dark moon pack cannot become the Luna of the hollow pack.
Liam paced back and forth. By now, Kathy and Kayla were at the hall premises. The camera footage of the street was pulled up and sent to Liam. The van was without a plate number. There was no way he could track it.
He called his team back. “Check if any car dealers lent out their vans this morning or yesterday,” he said and ended the call.
“Oh, my poor daughter and my grandson. Who’s doing this to them?” Kathy wailed.
“Don’t worry, we’ll find them,” Liam assured her.
Mr Darrel came out of the hall and saw Kathy. He looked over at Liam. “Is he doing everything possible to find her?” He inquired.
“I am,” Liam replied, not flinching from the old man’s gaze.
“Very well,” mr Darrel replied.
A call came in on Liam’s phone. “Yes?” He said into the phone.
“A van was rented out yesterday under the name of Cyril James,”
“Cyril James?” Liam muttered. He didn’t know the name. He ended the call. He didn’t know why his mind told him Cole was responsible for this. After all, his silence on his affair with Amy was too much and it killed him.
“I’ll be back,” he said as he hurried over to his car and his driver drove him over to Cole’s house.
•
He got to Cole’s house and to his greatest surprise, Cole was seated in his living room with a glass of brandy twirling around in his hand. He had told himself that he would be able to accuse Cole if he didn’t find him in the house.
“Where’s Amy?” Liam demanded as he walked closer to him.
Cole looked at him. “Why are you asking me? Isn’t she supposed to be with you?” He asked calmly.
“Don’t play dumb with me. I know you’re responsible for her abduction,” Liam fired.
“Do not blame me for your irresponsibility, Liam,” Cole replied, expressionless.
It killed Liam to see that he could get no reaction from him. “I know you don’t want me to get married to her,”
“You took your opportunity, Liam and I accepted it. Who am I to interfere with fate?” Cole asked as he took a sip from his glass.
“The Cole I know would not sit back and let someone take what is his,”
“Then maybe you do not know me,” Cole replied, staring at him.
“If it wasn’t you, then it must be Shantel. After all she’s your crazy ex who is after Amy’s life,”
He sparked anger in Cole. Cole took a deep breath. “Then you should go question her,” he said as he sipped from his glass once more and looked at Liam. “It crazy that you took my mate away from me and here you are accusing me of abducting her. The audacity,” he snickered.
“I’ll find her and when I do, I’ll ensure she cuts all ties with you and anything that will hurt her,” Liam threatened and walked out of the house.
•
Amy held her son close to her chest. They were blindfolded. “Mommy, I’m scared,” Tris said in fear.
“Don’t worry, mommy is here. Nothing will happen to you,” she assured, still holding him tight. No matter how she tried to avoid trouble, it always finds a way to locate her.
“Who are you? What do you want from us?” She demanded.
Her blindfold was removed and so was Tris. She tried to adjust her eyes to the light streaming from the window. There was a figure sitting on a chair.
“Hey, love,”
The familiar voice said.
“Dad?” Tris said. He smiled. Shock was written all over Amy’s face.
