Chapter 121: Chapter 121
“She’s so fortunate to be alive,” the nurse said with a smile. “Send for the doctor,” She said to the other nurse, whom immediately left.
“How’re you feeling?” The nurse asked as she touched Amy’s head.
“I’m..okay,” she said, trying to sit up.
“No, stay back. You don’t have to move. The doctor will soon be here,” the nurse said.
The doctor came in and when he saw Cole he was nervous. “Mrs Darrel, you’re awake,” he said, as he took out his stethoscope and checked her heartbeat. “You seem quite fine. Do you know these people in the room?” He asked in other to find out if she still had her memory.
She nodded. “Where’s my son?” She asked as she remembered the accident.
“He’s very fine, Amy. I’ll go call mother to bring him,” Kayla said in relief and Amy managed a smile as Kayla walked out of the ward.
“We’ll run a couple of tests on you to be sure there’s nothing we missed during the previous tests,” The doctor said and Amy nodded.
“And my baby?” Amy asked and the doctor looked away, not knowing how to break the news. She just woke up and didn’t need such devastating news.
“I’m sorry,” the nurse said apologetically. Amy swallowed hard as a lump filled her throat and tears gathered in her eyes.
The doctor walked away without sparing Cole a glance. The nurses left too, leaving Cole with Amy.
“Amy…” he slowly approached her as his voice broke.
“Don’t come any closer,” she said in a slow but firm tone as she tried to sit up.
It took Cole aback as he was not expecting such remark from her. “Why?” He asked, calmly.
“You bring me nothing but harm… I don’t want you close to me,” she replied, staring at him without blinking. Her throat croaked with bushed tears.
Cole swallowed. “I’m guilty of everything you accuse me of, Amy. If you hadn’t heard Shantel was pregnant, you wouldn’t have gotten involved in an accident,”
“That’s not just it, Cole,” she slowly said and stood there watching her speak. “As long as Shantel is involved in your life, I will never get the peace I want. As if all the things that happened is not enough, now, it’s an attempt on my life and that of Tris? Leading to the loss of my baby?” She asked tearfully.
“Shantel isn’t pregnant, Amy. It was just a ploy to separate us,”
“Exactly, Cole. She will continue with these ploys and never stop till she ends us. Ends me,”
He swallowed hard. “What are you trying to say?”
She stared at him for a few fleeting seconds. “Let’s end this,”
The camaraderie was broken immediately.
“What?” Cole was appalled by what she just said.
“I can’t do this any longer. I can’t live my life in constant fear knowing there’s some woman lurking in my shadow,”
“Amy…” he tried to move closer to her, but she shook her head.
“Don’t try to persuade me. I’ve made up my mind,” She said. Reality had hit her when she realized she was losing everything because of him.
“Is this what you want?” He asked her, calmly even though he was clearly dying inside.
“Yes,” she replied.
He nodded. “I’ll wait for you to heal,” he said, and with that, he walked out of the ward, his heart in his throat.
Amy wiped away the streak of tears that dropped on her cheek as she watched he walk away with a heavy heart. Her mind was made up and she wasn’t going back.

Cole got out of the hospital and walked over to the palm trees. In frustration and pain, he kicked the tree hard not caring if it hurt him. Once again, he was left alone. Amy had taken the last straw of his fuck ups.

The news of Amy waking up traveled through the city and her families were happy to have her back. In three days, Amy was discharged from the hospital and she refused to return to Cole’s house. Kathy didn’t argue has she took her arm. Amy wouldn’t let Tris out of her sight as the trauma of almost losing him kept tormenting her.
Liam came over to Kathy’s house to check on her and ensure she was alright.
Since Amy broke up with Cole in the hospital, she had not set her eyes on him. She forced herself not to think of him or worry about him.
“You ended things with Cole and you still have his ring on?” Kayla asked her skeptically. She was around to check up on her.
Amy covered her eyes. “I want to return it,” She replied.
“If you really wanted to, you would have the very day you kicked him out of your life,”
“Are you saying I made the wrong decision?” Amy asked, toiling with the ring on her finger.
“No. You did make a good decision. I know you didn’t leave Cole because he’s Cole. You left him because he has an obsessive ex who doesn’t want no one else to be with him except her,” Kayla replied.
Amy sighed as she fell flat on the bed, not knowing what to say anymore.

A week passed by and Amy expected her life to go back to normal, but normal wasn’t normal to her anymore. Still, there was no sign of Cole.
Tris kept asking of his dad, and Amy was forced to tell him to call Cole if he so badly wanted to talk to him, which didn’t sit well with Tris as he refused to speak to her.
On the other hand, Liam was coming every now and then to see her. They would sit and talk and he would try to lighten up her mood.
Meanwhile, Cole was in his mansion drowning away in alcohol. Any time he comes over to see Amy, he did that from afar and he would always see Liam with her. His heart ached every time he saw him with her, but he felt Amy needed time to process her emotions.
Greg walked into the mansion and scrunched his nose. “This place reeks of alcohol, alpha. What’s happening?” He asked.
“Let me be,” was Cole response as he gulped down another glass of vodka.
“Drinking will not solve anything, alpha. You should go get your Luna,” Greg said.
“Her mind seems so made up,” Cole replied in a drunken voice.
“Has she sent back the ring?” Greg asked.
“No. What does it matter? She will send it sooner or later,”
“It matters, alpha. It only means she isn’t sure she wants to leave you. If she truly wanted to, she would have given you back the ring,” Greg explained and Cole turned to look at him in speculation.

Amy looked at herself in the mirror and inhaled deeply. She was wearing a red body con dress for a friendly hangout Liam. At first, she had wanted to decline, but later saw it as an opportunity to get Cole out of her mind. Sitting in her mother’s house doing nothing made her think of Cole always and she wanted him out of her mind. This was her go ticket.
She picked up her bag and walked out of her room. Her mom and Tris were seated in the living room over a bowl of popcorn and watching a cartoon.
“Where are you going?” Tris asked as he saw her. He eyed her suspiciously.
“Somewhere. I’ll be back soon,” she replied and ruffled his hair.
“With who?” Kathy asked.
“A friend,” she replied plainly and walked out of the house to avoid further questions.
She arrived at the restaurant Liam had booked and there he was, waiting for her. She breathed out as she walked towards him. He stood up with a mesmerizing smile when he saw her.
“You look so beautiful,” he said as he took her hand and kissed it.
She gave a small smile. “Thank you,”
He pulled her seat backwards and she sat down. “Thank you,” she reiterated.
He smiled. As they ate and talked, Liam couldn’t stop looking at her and she noticed it.
“If you keep looking at me like that, I’m afraid I’ll have to hide under the table,” she joked.
“Then, I would have to join you there because I can’t get enough of your beautiful face,” he replied, and she was too flabbergasted to speak.
“I have a confession,” he braced up, ready to say the things that have been in his heart since high school.
She swallowed, afraid that she knew what he might say.
“I’ve been in love with you since high school,” he confessed and she stared at him. “Before Jeremy came in the picture, I have loved you even though you never looked my way,”
“I…don’t know what to say,” Amy finally said after a moment of silence.
“I know you’re still hurting from what Cole made you go through, but I promise I’m not rushing you. Take your time,” he replied with a smile.
She didn’t know how to react, but she knew Liam wouldn’t hurt her.
~~~~~~
Liam dropped Amy home and bade her good night before getting back into his car and driving away.
Amy turned to walk into the house when someone held her wrist. She turned sharply in shock and was confronted by a pair of aquamarine eyes, and her knees immediately buckled.
