Chapter 120: Chapter 120
**Two weeks later**
It’s been two weeks and Amy was still not awake. Cole was beside her from dusk to dawn. He was looking unkempt just watching her. His eyes lacked sleep and his face was tired. His hair was a tousled mess on his head, but still, he didn’t leave his beloved side as he was afraid he would miss the moment she would wake up.
Tris was fine now and was able to move about. He was with his grandmother who was taking care of him and bringing him once in a while to see Amy.
Over these weeks, Greg had handled the affairs of the company and when the voting had been pulled in, Cole still remained the owner of the company through Greg’s help. He had continued the business trip when Cole couldn’t. Greg still informed him of everything happening in the company and he had sent flowers for Amy’s speedy recovery.
Kayla walked into Amy’s ward and found Cole in the same position she had been seeing him for the past two weeks. His head was bowed over Amy’s hand as he held her. Cole had finally told her the reason Amy had left home in a rush and she was sad and angry at the same time.
“Here,” she said, stretching a cup of coffee to him.
He lifted his head as he noticed her presence. “Thank you,” he said as he took the cup from her and took a sip from it.
“You should go home and clean up, Cole. You don’t look good,” she said worriedly.
“What if she wakes up?” Cole asked as he looked in Amy’s direction.
“I’ll be here. I don’t think when Amy wakes up she would be happy to see you this way,”
Cole sighed. He didn’t want to leave.
“Cole, you’ve not been out of this ward for the past two weeks. You’ll fall sick soon if you don’t go out and get some fresh air and clean up too,” Kayla persuaded him.
“Alright,” he finally agreed. “But, I won’t go home. I’ll go out to get some air and have my clothes delivered to me just as before,” he added.
She shrugged. “Okay,” she said as she sat down on the chair.
Cole got up and with one last glance at Amy, he walked out of the ward. He was heading down the hallway calling Greg when he saw Shantel walking into the office of the doctor in charge of Amy’s care and his instincts immediately kicked in.
“What’s Shantel doing here?” He wondered out loud. Since Amy’s accident, he had no set eyes on her. Was she here to make sure Amy didn’t wake up? He wondered. He suspected her for Amy’s accident but he had no evidence against her.
He decided to go closer and find out what was going on between her and the doctor. Or was she here for her checkup? He wondered as he got closer to the office.
Shantel was already in the office and Cole could hear them talking, but he could barely make out anything they were saying. Then, he heard nothing. Why was it so quiet? He wondered.
He opened the door and to his surprise, it gave way. He slowly walked into the office, but he saw no one. He narrowed his eyes as he wondered where they must be. Then, he began to hear little moaning sounds from the bathroom.
Was Shantel…? He could barely believe it. He took out his phone, opened the door and took pictures of the doctor and Shantel in the act!
Shantel gasped in shock as she quickly straightened up and dragged her gown down.
“Unbelievable,” Cole said in disgust.
The doctor was too ashamed to speak as he zipped up. Cole took a step back as he placed his phone in his pocket.
“I can explain,” Shantel panicked as she walked out of the bathroom.
“I’m waiting for the brilliant lie you have to tell next,” he said coldly.
“I-I…” she could barely make out words. She was really caught this time.
“With what I have just seen, I don’t think you’re carrying my child. It’s the doctor’s,” Cole said staring hard at her.
“It’s…” Shantel tried to speak, but he silenced her with a finger.
He turned to the doctor. “How long has this been going on?” He asked. The doctor could barely utter a word. “Answer me!” Cole demanded, almost using his alpha voice.
“Almost five weeks now,” the doctor finally spoke.
“If I’m correct, that’s around the same time she said she was pregnant,” Cole said and the doctor nodded. “Is she pregnant? For me?” Cole inquired. He was losing his patience as he glared at Shantel.
“Please…” She began to plead as she looked from Cole to the doctor.
“I’ll have every right given to you as a doctor stripped off you. You shall be an outcast to your coven and to New Orleans,” Cole threatened. The doctor was a wizard.
Upon hearing Cole’s threat, he cowered. “I’m sorry, alpha, I didn’t mean to do this. She came to me and asked me to lie to you in exchange for sex. She isn’t pregnant in anyway,” he confessed.
Cole stared at Shantel in disappointment. “So, this was all a ploy to ruin my marriage, uh?”
Shantel finally braced up as she stared at him with fiery eyes. “Yes!” She yelled at him. “You don’t know how it hurt me to stoop this low just to get to you! I had to deploy ways to have you back in my life just because I love you!”
“And faking a pregnancy and conniving with a doctor to go ahead with your evil plans was the smartest way you thought of getting to me?” He stared hard at her as he continued. “Are you responsible for my family’s accident?”
She narrowed her eyes at him. “How can you accuse me of that?”
“If you can do this, you’re capable of more evil,” he replied without sugarcoating.
“I have no hand in Amy’s accident,” she said as she wiped her eyes. Cole turned to leave.
“What more can I do to get you, Cole? I fucking love you!” She said obnoxiously.
He stopped as he turned to look at the crazy woman before him. “Love? This isn’t the way to love. You don’t love me, Shantel. You’re crazy right now,” he replied. He knew she only saw him as an object to be owned.
“You’re making me go crazy, Cole. You should be with me and not with her!” She said obsessively as she grabbed his shirt.
He took her hands off him and looked directly into her eyes. “You’ll find someone to love you, but that’s not me. You need to heal,”
With that, he walked out of the office. Just then, he saw nurses rushing into Amy’s ward. His heart flipped as he panicked.
“What’s happening?” He asked one of the nurses running down the hallway.
“She’s awake,” she said hurriedly with a smile.
Cole’s legs could barely carry him as he stood not knowing how to react. Adrenaline surged through his veins and he found himself running towards her ward. He got in and there she was with her eyes opened and Kayla was beside her, along with two nurses. Their eyes met and as soon as they connected, Cole felt every fiber in him drain away as her eyes reflected coldness.
