Chapter 118: Chapter 118

The jet landed in New York three hours ago and Cole, and Greg were already meeting with their partners. The meeting didn’t take time as Cole was assured that he had their votes.

With New York meeting done, they headed back to the jet. They were heading to Los Angeles next.

They got back to the airport.

Immediately Cole stepped out of the car, his heart ached. It was as if it was about to be ripped out of his chest. He placed his hand on his chest as his face contorted.

“Are you alright?” Greg asked, placing a hand on his back.

Cole grimaced and nodded. “I’m fine,” he replied, but he knew he wasn’t. “I just have to call Amy,” he added.

Greg nodded.

Cole took out his phone as he walked over to the jet waiting for them. He dialed Amy’s number as he got into the jet with Greg.

Her number was unreachable. He dialed again. It was not connecting. Was she avoiding him?

He decided to call the house.

“Hello,” Nicole picked at the third ring.

“Nicole, is the Luna home?” He asked as the jet took off the runway.

“No, alpha. She went to her friend’s place. The Luna of the hollow pack,” Nicole replied.

“And Tris?” He asked.

“I saw him going with her,” she replied.

Cole ended the call and dialed Kayla’s number. He was agitated and he couldn’t explain it.

Kayla didn’t pick up. He grunted. “Pick up the phone,” he almost cursed.

He called her again and on the third ring, she picked. “Cole, why are you calling me?” She inquired.

“Is Amy with you?” He asked.

“No. Why?”

“Don’t fuck with me, Kayla. Is my family with you?” He demanded more aggressively. He had a sense of fear that was threatening to drown him.

“What’s the problem, Cole? I just told you they ain’t here. I’m trying to reach Amy and I can’t connect to her,”

Cole ended the call, trying not to let his fear overwhelm him. He called Tris’s driver.

“Alpha,” he said immediately he picked.

“What happened after you picked Tris from school?” Cole inquired.

“The Luna quickly picked him and led him to a taxi. The taxi left leaving only Shantel behind,” he explained.

“What?” Cole exclaimed as he sat up. “Did the Luna had anything on her? Luggage’s?” He inquired.

“No, alpha,”

Cole ended the call. “Bloody hell,” he muttered as he tried not to believe what his head was saying. He called the house again and Nicole picked.

“Nicole, check my bedroom to see if my wife’s things are still in there,” he ordered.

“Yes, alpha,” she replied and went upstairs to do as she was told. She found out some of Amy’s things weren’t there. She checked Tris’s room too and it was the same thing.

She rushed downstairs, and back to the phone. “Alpha, some of her things and the young master’s things are missing,”

Right there, it settled in on Cole’s head what he had been ignoring. Amy had left him. She had waited for the right time when he won’t be in the country to carry out this plan of hers.

He ended the call and leaned back in his seat with his eyes closed. Was the moon goddess playing tricks on him? Did she see his life like an amusement park to play on?

“Alpha, is everything okay?” Greg asked for the second time.

“Amy just…left me,” he replied simply without opening his eyes. His heart throbbing hard against his chest.

Greg was too stunned to speak.

Tris opened his eyes and the lighting from the room forced him to squint his eyes. “He’s awake,” he heard someone say.

His eyes finally adjusted to the room and he saw a nurse beside him. “You’re one lucky soul,” she said with a smile.

Tris realized he was in an hospital. He immediately remembered the accident. “Where is my mom?” He asked, his voice croaked with tears.

She smiled at him. “She’s fine. You just have to rest,”

“I want to see her,” he began to cry.

“You will. The doctors are attending to her,”

“I want to see her now,” Tris cried out.

The nurse felt sorry for him. “She isn’t awake yet,”

“And my dad? Is he here?” He asked.

She shook her head. “Your mom’s battery has been flat. It’s powered up now, but we can’t access her call logs. Would you be able to call your dad for us?” She asked and he nodded.

Just then, another nurse walked in to check on him. “Poor boy and to know that his mother won’t be waking up anytime soon,”

“Julianne!” The first nurse cautioned and tears rolled down Tris’s cheeks.

Paul walked into the house and met Kayla at the dining room. “Hey, you’re back,” she said with a smile.

“Yeah,” he could barely think. “Have you seen the news?” He asked her.

“No. I’ve been too busy to watch anything. Why?”

“I think you should see this for yourself,” he replied as he turned on the television.

A news reporter was standing in front of an accident scene with the police covering the area and the paramedics taking the victims to an ambulance.

“An accident happened right here on the Louisiana Highway about two hours ago. According to the officers report, it seems like another car, more heavier hit the car, leaving two survivors and one dead. These survivors have been identified as the Luna of the Dark Moon pack, Amy Darrel and her son, Tris Darrel,”

Kayla gasped in horror as she heard Tris and Amy’s name. The camera zoomed in on Amy and Tris both placed in different stretchers and taken into the ambulance.

“It is said that their condition is very critical,” the reporter continued.

Kayla placed her hands on her face in horror. “This can’t be happening,”

As soon as the jet lands and Cole stepped out, his phone rang. He picked it up. It was Amy calling him. “Amy, where have you been? I’ve called you and sent you voicemails. What’s going on?” He asked all at once in agitation. He could barely make out what the other end was saying due to the sounds of the hanger. “Amy?”

“Dad,” Tris voice filled with tears came on.

“Tris?” Cole was perplexed and more worried than before. “Tris, where are you? Where is your mother?” He inquired.

“Dad… we’re in the hospital,”

“What?” Cole froze.

“We had an accident…and mommy is not waking up,” he cried.

Cole could barely breathe.
