Chapter 117: Chapter 117

“Amy, please,” Cole went after her. But, she wouldn’t stopped. She got into the house and raced up the stairs in tears.

“Mom?” Tris called after her as he came out of the dining room, but she couldn’t respond. She was breaking inside.

Tris saw his father by the door. “Dad, is everything okay with mom?” He asked.

“Everything is fine,” he replied and turned to Nicole who was coming out of the dining room. “Take Tris to his room,”

“Yes, alpha,” Nicole replied, and took Tris by the hand, leading him up the stairs.

Cole went back outside in blinded fury. “Didn’t I warn you to stay away from me till I find out if that child is mine or not?!” He yelled at Shantel.

She scoffed. “I did, Cole. I came to see Amy,”

“What part of stay away from me didn’t you understand? I meant everything concerning me!” He yelled again.

She folded her arms and stared hard at him.

“Why are you so hellbent on ruining me? Why can’t you just stay away from me?” He asked her bitterly.

“Believe me when I say I hate being in this situation right now. You did this. You caused this. You threw twelve years of my life.. our lives, out the window without looking back,” Shantel replied in the same bitter tone as his.

“You’re not my fucking mate, for fuck sake!” He was beginning to use cursive words. “We had our thing in high school. It was dead and gone, but you had to trap me to be with you by getting pregnant and guilted me to keep staying with you when you lost the child. Now, you’re doing the same thing. Trying to trap me again, but I assure you that this time, it won’t work,” He was very angry and determined not to have anything to do with her.

“Cole, I’m carrying your child for the moon goddess sake!” She raised her voice shaking in tears.

“Until I’m sure the child is mine, will I take responsibility. But, I will never be with you, Shantel. Now, get out of my house,” he said, clenching his jaw.

“Cole,” Tears rolled down Shantel’s face as she walked towards him.

“I said get out!” He growled, using his alpha voice and Shantel was shaken as she turned and walked away.

Amy laid face flat on the bed, crying. She had promised herself she wouldn’t cry, but her emotions were getting the better part of her. She had tried so hard to forget about Cole sleeping with Shantel and now, the product of that one mistake turned out to the pregnancy. Why was life this way to her? What tragic fate has the moon goddess given her?

The door opened and she knew it was Cole. His presence always filled a room with the masculine energy he exuded.

He got to her and went on his knees. “Amy, I’m sorry. I promise I only found out yesterday and wanted to tell you today,”

She sniffled as she turned her head to look at him. “Was that why you were acting off yesterday?” She asked.

He nodded. “I didn’t know how to tell you, and I didn’t want to keep anything from you. I want to be sure that Shantel isn’t trying to dump someone else’s child on me,”

“What if the child is yours?” She asked, staring at him.

“I just have that strong belief that the baby isn’t mine,”

“What if it’s yours?” She reiterated again.

He was quiet for a few seconds. “I’ll take responsibility for the baby,” he replied and she looked away. “I won’t be with her, Amy. I promise you,”

“A child needs both his parents,” she replied, tears gathering her eyes again. Cole knelt there not knowing what to do. Unknown to him, she had made up her mind on what to do and there was no going back.

The next morning was rough for Amy. She had puffy eyes for she had cried all night. She knew when Cole had left the house but she couldn’t bring herself to open her eyes and watch him leave. He had crouched by her side of the bed and whispered yet another apology before leaving.

Amy sighed as she walked down the stairs. “Good morning, Luna,” Nicole curtsied.

“Good morning, Nicole. Have you seen Tris?” She asked.

“He has gone to school, Luna,” Nicole replied.

“Oh,” Amy sighed softly. She had forgotten about Tris school.

Nicole nodded.

“Okay, you can go back to what you’re doing,” Amy said and Nicole walked away. Amy walked to the living room and turned on the Tv. The first thing she saw was Cole making a public apology.

“On behalf of my wife and I, I want to sincerely apologize to Shantel Jackson for accusing her falsely for the kidnap of my wife. My apologies for any damage this might have caused her,” he apologized.

“Who was responsible for the kidnap?” They asked.

“It was one of those rogues seeking power, that’s all,” he replied. “I won’t be addressing this issue again. Thank you,” he added and walked away. Just as the camera zoomed on him, Amy saw Shantel standing by the door.

She turned off the Tv and heaved.

Cole returned home and he saw Amy sitting on the bed, fidgeting with her fingers. “Are you alright?” He asked her.

She glanced at his direction and nodded. “I see you’ve rendered a public apology to Shantel,” she said.

He exhaled. “Yes,”

“Okay,” she replied, simply.

The atmosphere between them got awkward. “Is Tris back from school?” He asked.

“Yes,” she replied.

“I’ll go see him,” he said.

“Okay,” she breath out, and Cole walked out of the room.

She couldn’t wait for him to travel before carrying out her plan.

Finally, the day of his business trip came and Amy was restless. These past two days have been an awkward phase for them and when he told her he was leaving, all she gave was a nod.

Cole couldn’t blame her for her reaction. It was normal for her to feel this way. After all, she was carrying his baby and now another woman was pregnant for him.

Has he left for his private hanger, He wondered why she didn’t walk away from him this time around. Was she equally waiting for him to find out if the child was his or not? He groaned in frustration as he placed his head on the seat pillow.. Everything seemed to have the wrong timing in his life.

“Are you okay?” Greg asked him.

“Yeah,” he replied. He needed his best friend, but at this point, it has like he lost the right to refer to Liam as his best friend any longer.

Amy arranged her suitcase and that of Tris and she took them to the taxi she had earlier called. Her plan was to wait for Tris by the taxi. As soon as the driver brings him, she would take him immediately to the airport. It was about time she left this country for good. New Orleans was no good for her. Cole was no good for her.

Nicole wasn’t aware that Amy had taken her things to the taxi. She had only told Nicole she was going to see Kayla.

Just as Amy waited for Tris, Shantel appeared in her car. She came down and saw Amy standing beside the taxi.

“Just the person I came to look for,” Shantel said, jolting Amy out of her reverie.

Amy looked at her. “What do you want?” She demanded.

“I’ve come to tell you that I’m the rightful wife of Cole and you should pack your things and leave him alone,”

“Okay,” was Amy’s response and it angered Shantel.

“Do you think I’m bluffing?”

“No,” Amy replied calmly as she looked at the road.

“Mrs Darrel, how long do I have to wait? I’ve got a business to run,” the taxi driver said to Amy.

“Just a little longer, please,” Amy replied apologetically.

Shantel snickered. “Do not tell me that you’re running away,”

“I’m not in your business, Shantel. You shouldn’t be in mine,” Amy retorted.

Just then, the driver pulled up in the driveway and Amy immediately went to the car.

Tris stepped down and hugged her tightly. “Were you waiting for me?” he asked, beaming with smiles.

She smiled back. “Yes. Come on now. We’re going somewhere,” she said, holding his hand and leading him to the taxi.

“Where?” He asked her.

“You’ll get to know,” she replied and made him get into the taxi as she did. The taxi driver drove out of the estate.

Shantel was puzzled as she stared at the retreating taxi. Her calmness unnerves me. What’s this bitch up to?” She muttered.

“Mommy, does daddy know where we are going?” Tris asked.

“No. Nobody knows,” she replied, looking at the road.

“Why?” Tris asked.

“Because…” Amy couldn’t complete her words as she let out a scream when a truck rammed into them. Tris screamed as the car somersaulted and all Amy could do was cover her son with her body before she sank into a dark abyss.
