Chapter 115: Chapter 115

Kayla rushed down the stairs excitedly. “Amy, it’s so good to see you,” she said, as she went into Amy’s outstretched arms.

Amy grinned as they hugged. “Same here, Kay,”

They pulled apart. “So, what brings you here?” Kayla asked.

“Well, Cole had something urgent to do at the office, and we’re to head to the dark moon pack. So, I said I would come here and he would pick me up,” Amy explained.

“Great. Come, let’s sit,” Kayla said, leading her to the couch and they sat together.

Kayla called for an omega. “Get us a bottle of wine,” she said.

“Yes, Luna,” The omega replied and curtsied before walking away.

“Where’s Paul?” Amy asked.

“Oh well, he’s out for his alpha’s duties,” Kayla replied, sounding a bit off.

“Is everything alright?” Amy asked her.

She shrugged. “He’s been acting weird lately. I barely see him anymore,” she replied.

“Have you spoken to him about it?” Amy asked worriedly.

“No,” Kayla said with a shrug. “Let’s forget about that. There’s no need to worry. His duties must really be taking his time,” she added.

“You know, sometimes I forget I’m engaged to an alpha,” Amy chuckled to lighten the mood. “I haven’t really heard him talk about alpha responsibilities,” she added.

Kayla chuckled. “He lives away from the pack house and his father is still alive. What do you expect?” She said.

Amy chuckled. “Yeah, right,”

~~~~~~
“Is something wrong with you?” Cole asked Shantel.
She frowned at him. “What the heck do you mean by that?” She demanded. “I’m having your baby and you are asking me this?”
“This must be a joke. Shantel, I’m not in for this,” he replied rubbing his forehead. He was stressing out.
She reached for her bag and pulled out a paper. “Here,” she said, handing the paper over to him.
Cole hesitated before taking it from her. He went through it and his eyes narrowed. This couldn’t possibly be happening to him right now.
“Is it still a joke?” She asked him.
“For all I know, the baby is not mine. I did not touch you and I’m sure of it,” he replied as he stared at her.
She slapped her forehead. “I’m not in for this, Cole. If you want a retest, come with me to the city hospital, and you’ll also get to find out the baby’s paternity,” she said, staring back at him.
Cole was losing it. He wanted to know for sure that Shantel was pregnant and with his child. He hoped this was all a sham. How could he possibly tell Amy that another woman was carrying his child, and that woman was Shantel. He stared at her, and she was smiling at him.
“So, what date have you and Cole decided?” Kayla asked Amy as they sipped from their glass of wine.
Amy dropped her glass and heaved with a smile. “Well, next weekend,”
“What?” Kayla’s eyes widened.
“Is it too soon?” Amy asked worriedly.
“No, it’s not. I’m just so…” Kayla fell back to the couch. “There’s so much we haven’t done. We need to go shopping. Have a theme for the wedding. Girl, I’m freaking out just thinking of this,”
Amy laughed. “Calm down, Kayla. We’ll still get it all done,”
“It has to be the wedding of the season, Amy,” Kayla said, standing up. “I need to get my book and we have to start thinking of everything you need,”
“Calm down, Kay,” Amy replied, unable to contain her laughter.
“Nah-ah,” Kayla said as she dashed up the stairs.
“The results are out, Alpha,” The doctor said to Cole and Shantel.
Cole raised a brow, waiting for him to say it.
The doctor looked over at the paper. “She’s pregnant,” he said.
Cole groaned inwardly. It was like his world was falling apart. “I want a DNA test conducted on the baby,” he said.
“Since the baby is not yet born, we would have to wait till the baby is seven weeks,” the doctor replied.
“How many weeks gone is she now?” Cole asked.
“Two and a half,” the doctor replied.
“Alright,” Cole said and walked out of the doctor’s office. Shantel went after him.
“Do you see now that I’m telling the truth?” She asked.
He turned sharply at her. “Until the baby is seven weeks, stay away from me,” he warned, and then turned away and left. He got into his car, his grip tightened around the steering wheels. “We’re doomed,” his wolf said to him and all Cole could do was sigh.
~~~~~~~

“I wonder what’s taking Cole so long,” Amy said as she watched Kayla write things down.

“Probably caught up in traffic,” Kayla replied.

Just then, Cole walked into the house. Amy looked at the direction of the door and her eyes lit up just seeing him.

“Kay, Cole’s here,” she said, standing up and Kay looked at the door.

Amy walked over to him. “Hey, love,” she said as she hugged him.

He kissed her hair and swallowed back his nervousness. “Hey, babe. Ready?” he asked.

She pulled away and nodded with a smile.

Cole acknowledged Kayla’s presence. “Hi, Kayla,”

“You just had to come and steal her away when we were getting to the good part,” Kayla fired at him.

“My apologies. I’ll bring her back,” Cole said.

“When?” She asked.

“Tomorrow?” He replied doubtfully.

“Better,” she said and turned to Amy with a smile. “Bye,” she added.

Amy smiled back. “Take care, Kay,” she said as she kissed her cheek before heading to where Cole was.

Together, they walked out of the house and got into the car.

All through the driving to the pack house, Amy could sense Cole’s discomfort. He was silent and barely replied to anything she said. “Are you alright?” She asked him as she placed her hand on his arm.

“Uh? Yeah,” he replied with a nod.

“You seem distant, Cole,” she said worriedly.

“I’m just preoccupied with work. The office is stressing me out,” he replied which wasn’t a lie, but also not the whole truth.

“Want to talk about it?” She asked.

“When we get back from the pack,” he replied.

She smiled and patted his shoulder. “You’ll be fine,” she said and he managed a smile as he intertwined his hand with hers.

They got to the pack house and Mr Darrel was already waiting for them.

“Quite late, but we would begin immediately,” he said as they walked in.

“Good evening, father,” they both greeted. Amy was astonished by what he said.

“Evening, evening,” he responded. “Martha!” He called for someone and she came immediately. She was an elderly woman. “Get everything ready,” he said and she nodded with a smile.

She turned to Cole and Amy. “Welcome, Alpha, Luna,” she greeted with a smile.

“Thank you,” Amy gave her a big smile, as Cole gave her a nod, and she walked away.

“Where’s that beta of yours? I asked him to do something and he isn’t here yet. When the both of you is needed, you both are never here. A pack house should have it Alpha, Luna and Beta in it,” Mr Darrel ranted.

Cole squeezed his eyes shut for a second. “What’s going on, father?” He asked.

“You’re getting married today in the pack house in the traditional way of the Dark Moon pack,” Mr Darrel said.

“What?” Amy and Cole exclaimed softly.

Just then, Greg walked into the house. “Father, everything is ready. The pack members are waiting,” he said to Darrel.

“Bloody hell, Greg. You knew about this?” Cole demanded.

Greg shrugged with a smile. “It’s tradition,”

Martha came back and motioned to Amy. “Please, come with me, Luna,” she said.

“Okay,” Amy replied, not knowing what to do as she followed her.

“And you, follow Greg. We’ll meet at the Pack’s Grove,” Mr Darrel said.

Cole stared at his father for a while before following Greg. He knew about the traditions of the pack house and the marriage rites that must be performed here, but he hated it. He hated being here. It reminded him a lot of his childhood traumas. Things he was still struggling to forget.

“You can’t escape it, you know,” Greg said.

“Yeah, shut up,” Cole replied as he stood in front of his room. Memories flooding his head.

Amy sat still as they prepared her for the traditional marriage way of the Dark Moon pack. She wore a royal blue pleated corset dress with ruffled feathers at the end of the sleeves and around the neck. From the waist of the dress down, it was laid down edges by edges, folded in symmetrical lines Her hair was tied up in a Celtic knot.

Martha gasped as the other women finished Amy’s makeup and dressings. “You’re so beautiful, Luna,” she said.

Amy gave a small smile. “Thank you,” she said as she stared at her reflection in the mirror.

“Our late Luna wore this on her traditional marriage,” Martha said.

Amy was surprised. She couldn’t believe she was wearing Cole’s mother’s dress.

Cole stood at the Pack’s Grove. His father and the pack members were seated, waiting for the Luna. Amy was led down by Martha and when Cole saw her, he was breathless. He gazed at her with love as his heart pummeled against his chest. He could hardly believe that she was his. He knew he would love her till infinity.

The pack members had their eyes on her. For some, this was their first time seeing her, and they were amazed by her beauty. For others who had seen her in news, we’re stunned to see that she looked better in person.

Amy stood in front of Cole nervously. He took her hand in his and kissed it. “You look exquisitely beautiful as always,” he said.

She blushed. “Thank you. You look handsome as always,” she praised. He wore a pleated vest in the same color as her dress, matched with white sleeves and black trousers.

He smiled as he let go of her hand and they faced the pack’s priest. Cole barely payed attention to the priest, his eyes were fixed on his bride.

They said their vows with all the sincerity in their eyes and the priest pronounced them the Alpha and Luna of the pack house.

“You may kiss the Luna,” he said.

“You don’t need to tell me twice,” Cole replied with a grin as he leaned towards Amy’s lips. He lifted her chin and wrapped his lips with hers to the hooting and clapping of the pack members. As the kiss signified their new role as the leaders of the pack, the pack members howled in one accord and Mr Darrel was satisfied with himself.
