Chapter 114: Chapter 114
“Bye, mom! Bye, dad!” Tris said enthusiastically as he waved at his parents, hurrying over to the car.
Cole and Amy waved back at him, their face full of smiles as Tris got into the car and Zeco drove him off to school.
“He looks so smart in his uniform,” Cole said, holding Amy’s waist.
She chuckled. “I know right,” she replied, watching the car fade away. She turned to him. “Are you not going to the office today?” She asked.
“I will, but later,” he responded, as he led her into the house.
“Oh well, I have to get ready for work or I’ll be extremely late on a Monday morning,” Amy replied, as she snaked out of his arm.
“Uh? What work?” He asked her with a raised brow.
She turned around to look at him with amused eyes. “Don’t joke around now, Cole. You know I work in Liam’s Tech,”
“It’s time you quit, Amy, literally,” he responded.
“Why? Because I’m pregnant?” She asked him with a raised brow.
“That’s not it,” he replied as he reached out and pulled her closer to himself. “You know I’ve been against the idea of you working,” he added.
“The idea of me working or the idea of me working for your friend?” She poked at his chest.
“Both, and with what happened recently, I don’t want a reoccurrence,” he said, as he placed his hands on her waist.
She sighed. “I enjoy working, Cole,”
“I know, but it time you stopped. You don’t see Kayla, a Luna at the beck and call of a boss,” he said as he held her chin, and looked into her eyes. “You’re a Luna. My Luna, and my Luna shouldn’t be seen working. What kind of alpha would that make me?”
She sighed. “If I don’t work, what will I be doing to kill time?” She asked.
He grinned. “I’m here, babe,”
“I’m serious, Cole,”
“What do Lunas do?” He asked.
“Well, take care of the pack,” she replied.
“And spend their Alpha’s money,” he said with a grin.
“That’s what you want me doing?” She asked, her arms entwined around his neck.
“Do you know the similarities between me and my card?” He asked, and she looked at him curiously. “There’s no limit when it comes to you,”
She smiled, and he placed his lips on hers.
After a few seconds, she pulled away. “But, I have to tell Liam I’m resigning,” she replied.
“Text him,” he said plainly.
She frowned at him. “No. He’s been a good guy. The least I can do is see him in person, thank him for his help before I resign,”
He groaned. “Fine, it makes sense. But, I’ll take you there, and after that, we’re heading to the pack,”
“Oh, okay. But, why?” Amy was curious, for she had never been to the Dark Moon pack before.
He shrugged. “I don’t know myself. Father wants to see us there,” he replied. Amy wandered into space as she wondered why.
~~~~~
Cole pulled up in front of Liam’s company. “You’ll be alright?” Cole asked Amy.
She nodded with a smile. “You’ll pick me up from Kayla’s place. I won’t be able to wait that long for you here,” she said. He had got a call from the office about a urgent matter.
He squeezed her thigh. “It’s alright. Zeco will be waiting for you here by the time you’re done,” he replied.
She nodded, and he kissed her cheek. She stepped out of the car, and gave a little wave before she turned around to walk into the building.
Cole ensured she was in the building before he drove away.
Amy walked casually into the company and she began to hear whispers. She ignored them until some of her colleagues came over to tell her how they were happy that she was safe and sound, and how they saw the news of her kidnap on the news.
She ensured to tell them that Shantel wasn’t responsible for her kidnap, and that it was all a misunderstanding.
With them gone, she got into the elevator and headed to the fifth floor. She got there and went straight to Liam’s office. He was standing by the window, a cup of cappuccino in his hand. He had seen when Cole dropped her off.
“Thought you were never going to come,” he said as he looked at her with a smile.
She smiled back. “Won’t that be wrong of me?” She asked.
“How are you, Amy?” He asked. She was not dressed formally for work, rather, she was in a floral print dress, and he wondered why.
“I’m very much, fine, thank you,” she replied.
“Are you still going to keep standing?” He asked her with a raised brow.
“Ah, my bad,” she replied as she sat down.
He leaned back in his seat. If she was not here to resume, it only meant one thing. “You’re here to resign, right?” He asked her.
She heaved in surprise. “Is it that obvious?” She asked.
There it is. She is resigning! His wolf screamed in his head, but he maintained composure. “You’re not in office wears, so I presumed,”
She nodded. “I just came to thank you for everything, Liam. For the care, the support, for being part of saving me, everything. I really owe you, Liam,”
“Ah, forget it. It’s nothing,” he waved it aside.
She smiled. “Thank you, Liam, but I’m afraid that I have to resign now,” she replied.
“Why?” He asked. He didn’t want to ask if it was Cole that cajoled her to do so.
“I’m having a baby. I need to focus on my family and my wedding,” she replied.
He had a thousand reason to make her stay back, but he couldn’t. Instead he nodded. “I understand,” he said as he stood up and stretched his hand towards her. “It was great working with you,” he added with a smile.
She stood up and took his hand. “I can definitely say same here,” she replied, returning his smile.
Cole arrived at his office and Greg handed over some documents to him. “It has come to my knowledge that Mr Smith is going behind your back to buy the shares of some stockholders in order to rule you out of your position. These are some of the stockholders shares he has purchased,”
Cole went through the papers as he saw the names of the people who sold their shares to him.
“What brought about this?” Cole asked as he sat down.
“Mr Smith claims that you’re not fit to rule the company. He has been planning this for long. He says a young alpha cannot rule over him,”
Cole chuckled dryly. “How many shareholders are on his side?” He asked.
“Almost all the shareholders in New Orleans,”
“And our international partners?” He asked.
“None are on his side,”
Cole groaned as he placed his head on his seat. His wedding was to hold next week, but now, it seems he has to postpone.
“Alpha, there will be casting of votes soon if you should be ruled out. What do we do?”
When one runs a company, no matter if he was the owner, shareholders always want to compete for the position. “Call for a meeting tomorrow, and schedule a business trip for three days. We have to speak to our international partners to be sure they still support us,” Cole said, standing up.
“Okay, alpha,” Greg replied.
Cole was about to leave when the door to his office burst open. Shantel forced her way into Cole’s office with securities holding her.
“Let go of me, you hoodlums!” She yelled at the securities holding her.
Cole narrowed his eyes as he signaled for them to let her be. They walked out of his office and so did Greg.
“What are you doing here?” Cole asked her.
“You should speak to those securities of yours, Cole. I won’t tolerate them placing their filthy hands on me next time,” she replied as she adjusted her fluffy pink jacket.
Cole heaved, trying to maintain composure. “What are you doing here?” He reiterated.
“That’s no way to speak to the mother of your unborn child,” she replied with a smile.
“What?” Cole was flabbergasted.
“I’m pregnant, Cole,” she said with a smile, and Cole stared dumbfounded at her.
