Chapter 108: Chapter 108
Amy watched as the gammas Cole sent went into the house and packed out her luggage’s and that of Tris out of the house and into the car.
Her mother, Kathy smiled as she watched them too. She walked over to Amy. “I’m glad that you’re thinking properly now. Your home is with Cole and you know it,” she said.
Amy stared at her mother. “You told him I was here right?” She asked.
“I did not. I only told his father about the issues between you two, hoping he can sort them out for the both of you,” Kathy replied with a shrug.
Amy heaved. “Well, I’m leaving your house now, right? Like you wanted,” she said as she tucked her hands into her jacket and pulled it closer to herself.
“Don’t say that,” Kathy replied, her eyes mirrored hurt. “I want what’s best for you and Tris,”
Amy sighed as she looked away. “I know,”
Tris burst out of the door. “Mom, they’re done,” he said, smiling.
She smiled back. “Get into the car with Nicole , I’ll join you soon,” she replied.
“Okay,” he was very pleased with himself as he walked over to the car with Nicole and one of the gamma opened the door for them, and they got in.
Amy turned to her mother. “I’ll get going now. Thank you for the hospitality,”
Kathy smiled wearily as she placed her hand on Amy’s shoulder. “You know you’re welcome here any time,” she said.
Amy scoffed in her head. “Yeah, thanks,” she replied.
“Would you be able to go to the office today?” Kathy asked as she dropped her hand.
Amy nodded. “I told Liam I would come in late and he was fine with it,”
Kathy was skeptical as she sighed. “Okay, take care,”
Amy hugged her briefly. “You too,” she said, and with that, she walked away and got to the car.
The gamma opened the door for her and she got in.
As the door closed, Kathy waved at them and Amy and Tris waved back.
The car was driven out of the parking space and Tris placed his head on Amy’s lap. “I’m so happy that we’re going to be with dad again. Thank you, mom,” he said.
Amy swallowed and she managed to smile as she stroked his hair.
•
They arrived at the house, but Cole was not in. Amy swallowed as the familiarity of the house became nostalgic for her. As Nicole and the gammas took the bags to their various rooms, Amy stood rooted to the spot in the living room as memories took over her.
Nicole and the gammas finished with the arrangements and the gammas bowed and left the house.
“Luna, will you still be able to make it to the office?” Nicole asked her.
Amy didn’t know if she could work in her current state. She was too emotional and angry at this point.
She shook her head. “I’ll call Liam to cancel,” she replied.
“Okay, Luna. I’ll get Tris settled in,” Nicole said and Amy nodded and watched her walk away.
Amy walked up the stairs and got to the room she shared with Cole. She wanted a different room, but she knew Tris would become suspicious of it and it could get him hurt again.
Memories of their shared moments in the room threatened to elope her, but she pushed them aside. Then, she saw her phone on the lamp stand. She reached for it and dialed Liam’s number.
He picked at the first ring. “Amy? Finally,” he said.
She hesitated as she tucked her hair behind her ear. “Hey, Liam. I’m calling to cancel today. I can’t make it to the office,”
He chuckled. “I knew you couldn’t and I totally get it. Take all the rest you need,” he replied.
“Thank you. I’ll see you tomorrow,”
“Okay,” he said and the line went dead. Liam turned around in his seat and looked at Amy’s number again. It was different from the one that called him this morning.
He remembered Cole bringing Amy’s phone to him so he could see those videos. Could it be that she was back with him? He pondered.

Amy soaked herself in the bathtub, her eyes closed as she tried her best not to think of the recent happenings around her. She finally got out of the bathtub and dried herself with a towel.
She walked into the bedroom and discarded the towel as she reached for her nightdress in the wardrobe.
Just then, the door opened and Cole walked in. Their eyes met and Cole was lost for a moment as he couldn’t speak, neither could he get his eyes off her.
Amy looked away as she took out her nightdress and donned it on.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were undressed,” he said, as he finally looked away.
She straightened the gown. “Right,” she replied nonchalantly as she picked up the towel and took it back to the bathroom.
She proceeded to walk out of the room when Cole held her back. She swallowed.
“I know I said you needed time to forgive me, but your silence is killing me, Amy,”
“I have nothing to say to you,” she replied, without turning back to look at him.
“I deserve every ill treatment I’m getting right now, but please Amy, for the sake of Tris..”
She turned sharply at him. “That’s the only reason I’m in this house and in this room. Left for me, I don’t want to ever see your face,” she replied and he let go of her hand and she walked out of the room.
Cole stood motionless as he stared at the door she just closed. Amy leaned on the wall, her hand on her chest as she sobbed silently.

The tweeting of the birds indicated a new dawn and Amy was all ready for work. She got to the dining room and Cole was already seated for breakfast. Last night, he had slept on the couch and left the bed all to her.
“Good morning,” she said as she got seated.
He looked up at her. “Good morning, love,” he replied and she pretended like she didn’t hear the endearment despite the fact that her heart had skipped a beat.
She sipped from her tea and she could feel his eyes scrutinizing her from his.
Just then, Tris walked into the dining room, rubbing his eyes. “Good morning mom and dad,” he greeted.
“Morning, baby,” Amy responded.
“Did you sleep well?” Cole asked.
“Uh-uh,” he replied as he got seated.
“Have you brushed your teeth?” Amy asked.
“Yes… are you going with dad to the office today?” He asked, looking from Cole to Amy.
“We have different offices, Tris,” Amy replied.
“But, dad could drop you, right?” He asked and turned to Cole. “Would you take mom to her place of work?” He asked sheepishly.
“I’ll gladly do that,” Cole replied as he turned to Amy. “If she would let me,”
Tris looked at Amy. She reluctantly agreed. There was no way she could say no since Tris asked.
“Okay,” she replied.
He grinned. “Great. He said as he began to eat.
Cole and Amy took turns in kissing his head and bidding him a good day. Amy instructed Nicole to look after him properly.
Finally, she got seated beside Cole in the backseat of the car. His driver was doing the driving today.
They said nothing to each other. Cole was mostly engrossed with what Shantel told him two nights ago. He contemplated on telling Amy, but decided against it. After all, Shantel wasn’t sure yet.
They got to Liam’s Tech and Amy got out of the car without saying anything to him. Cole instructed the driver to head over to the office.
Liam stood by his window and he saw when Cole’s car dropped Amy. Was she back with him? He pondered deeply. He contemplated on asking her but he didn’t want to invade her privacy.
•
Amy went about the usual activities of the office and smiled often when needed. She seemed to be getting along with her colleagues a bit better than before.
When it was finally time to head home, she sighed as she arranged her bags properly. She didn’t even have the zeal of going to Cole’s mansion.
“Ready?” She heard Liam’s voice behind her.
She looked back and shook her head. “Not yet. I still have a file to sort out,”
“You can do that tomorrow. I don’t want you to stay late,” he replied.
“No, it’s fine,” she said, managing a smile.
“Or is Cole coming to pick you up?” He inquired, his curiosity getting the better part of him.
She looked away as she stacked up some files. “I don’t know,” she responded.
Were they not in good terms? He thought, but he didn’t push it any further. He nodded. “Alright, but you should leave on time, okay?” He said.
She chuckled. “Yes, sir,”
“Good night, Amy,” he said.
“Good night,” she replied as she watched him leave.
As soon as he was gone, she placed her head on the desk and sighed.
Just then, her phone beeped. It was a message from Cole. She picked her phone and opened it.
“Still at work?” He asked.
She contemplated on replying. “Yes, I’ll be late,” she finally responded.
“For an hour?” He asked.
“Probably,” she texted back.
“I should be done before then. I’ll pick you up,” he texted.
She looked at the message and closed her phone without replying.
She finished logging all the data of the file in her laptop and stepped out of the office. She got out of the building and took out her phone to text Cole that she was done.
Out of the blue, someone came behind her and placed an handkerchief over her nose. She struggled and her phone fell down as she lost consciousness.
