Chapter 107: Chapter 107

Amy walked out of the building as she shuffled for her wallet in her bag, to be sure she didn’t leave it back at the office. She caught a glimpse of it and sighed in relief as she looked up, taking a step further, she was confronted by the presence of Cole leaning on his car.

She swallowed hard as her heart thumped against her chest. Their eyes connected and she felt a sinking feeling down her stomach. No matter how hard she tried, there was no way she could ever stop the butterflies he created within her.

He moved away from the car and she walked closer to him.

“What are you doing here?” She asked him, raising her chin. After all, she was still mad at him for saying they couldn’t work out.

“I came to see you,” he replied.

“Now that you have, I’ll like to go home,” she said.

“I’ll take you home,” he insisted.

She turned away. “I can find my way,” she replied, walking away from him.

He closed his eyes briefly before opening them again. “Get in the car, Amelia,” he said, calling her name formally with a hint of seduction in it.

She froze in her tracks as she swallowed and turned to look at him.

The drive to Kathy’s house was a silent one. Amy folded her hands on her laps as she looked out the window.

Cole exhaled inaudibly as he looked in her direction, but she didn’t spare him a glance even though she could feel his eyes on her.

“I spoke to Tris today,” Cole finally broke the silence as he looked ahead of the road.

“Good,” she replied, not knowing what to say.

“You don’t want to know what we talked about?” He asked.

“He’s your son. I shouldn’t really be bothered about what you both discuss, should I?” She asked as she looked at him, noting his sharp features.

He turned to look at her, but she looked away from his gaze.

The rest of the drive was silent and finally, Cole pulled up in front of Kathy’s house. “Thank you,” Amy said as she reached to open the car door, but it was still locked.

She stared at Cole, and he stepped out of the car and walked over to her side, opening the door for her.

She heaved as she stepped out. “Thank you,” she muttered.

She walked towards the house and he held her hand, stopping her from leaving.

“Will you ever forgive me?” Pain was etched in his voice.

She swallowed, unable to respond.

Just then, Tris burst through the door, full of smiles.

“Mom! Dad!” He screamed in happiness as he ran over to them.

Cole let go of Amy’s hand and smiled at his son as he squatted. “Hey, kiddo,” he said as Tris hugged him tight. “Missed me?” He asked as he ruffled his hair and sighed in relief.

“A lot, dad,” he replied.

“I miss you too,” Cole said with a smile as they pulled apart.

Tris smiled at his mom, his missing front teeth were growing again. “Hey, mom,”

Amy ruffled his hair. “How was your day?” She asked him.

“Pretty good. Are you and dad back together?” He asked sheepishly.

Amy smiled wryly as she looked away.

Cole looked at her and then at Tris. “We should give mommy some time, Tris. She’s still very upset with me,” Cole replied.

Tris looked downcast. “School’s about to resume, dad. Everyone will have stories to tell about their family and I will have none,” he said with a shaky voice.

Amy swallowed hard. “Tris, go inside. Mommy will join you soon, okay?” She said to him.

He nodded sadly and turned to Cole. “Will I see you soon?” He asked.

Cole nodded. “I’ll be here every day,” he said.

Tris hugged him again. “Bye, dad,” he replied, tears evident in his voice. Cole closed his eyes as he hugged him. Amy could not bear to look at them as she looked away, tears silently cascading on her cheeks.

They pulled apart and Tris went into the house.

Amy quickly wiped her eyes. How could she watch her son hurting due to the separation from his father? Wasn’t she a cruel mother? She thought.

Cole stood up. “I’ll get going. Good night,” he said and turned away.

Amy didn’t know if what she was doing was right or wrong, but she didn’t want to see her son hurting.

“Wait,” she said, stopping him in his tracks and not caring if she would regret this decision someday.

Cole turned around and looked at her.

She swallowed. “Tris and I will come back to the house tomorrow,” she said, to the shock of Cole.

He was taken aback as he let her continue. “I’m not coming back because I believe you or I’ve forgiven you. I’m coming back because of Tris. I can’t bear to see my son hurting,” she added.

He did his best to hide his excitement despite the fact that his eyes twinkled as he gave a nod. “Fair enough. I’ll send the driver,” he said.

“Alright, good night,” she replied and turned away, walking into the house.

Cole got into his car and dialed Kayla’s number. She picked at the third ring. “Yes?” She said into the phone.

“She’s coming back to the house tomorrow,” he replied, still in disbelief though.

“What?” Kayla was also surprised. “I wasn’t expecting the plan to work this fast,”

“Neither did I. Tris really helped me out here,” he replied.

“Good for you. After this, and I get to know you fucked up again, I’ll have your head on a stake. I don’t care that you’re an alpha,” she said and with that, she ended the call.

Cole sighed as he leaned back in his seat, and closed his eyes. He had spoke to Tris today and hearing the sadness from his voice, Kayla had encouraged him to use it as an opportunity to get him and Amy back. Tris assured him that he would get them together and Cole had no idea that what happened a few minutes ago was what he meant.

He sighed again, this time in relief, before he reared his engine to life and drove away.

Cole got to his estate and there was Shantel standing by the gate with his securities. “Curse the damn bitch,” he muttered and his wolf growled in anger. This was the woman separating him from his mate.

He stepped out of the car and she looked at him saucily. “Finally, you’re here,” she said.

“What the fuck do you want? Haven’t I warned you not to step foot on my property any more?” He demanded.

She chuckled. “That’s not what you said when I was riding you,” she said as she walked closer to him. She reached for his tie and he flung her hands away.

“I know I didn’t touch you that day and these are all ploys to sabotage my marriage,” he replied.

“Ploys? I didn’t force you to have a drink with me,”

“You cajoled me, knowing that you had something up your sleeves,” he replied, narrowing his eyes at her.

“Anyways, that’s not why I’m here,” she said, smiling.

“Why are you here?” He asked, having a bad feeling about her presence.

“I’ve been feeling a bit off since our last encounter,” she said, placing her hands on his chest.

He took them off and dropped them. “And? What are you driving at?” He demanded, frowning at her.

She smiled. “I think I’m pregnant,” she said, and Cole stared at her motionless.

Cole let out a dry chuckle. “You can’t be serious,”

“I am. Well, I’m not sure yet, but I feel the symptoms,” she replied with a shrug.

“You’re not pregnant and definitely not for me,” he said, anger seething inside of him.

“You’re not sure yet and neither am I,” she responded, frowning at him.

“Then why are you here if you’re not sure?” He reiterated in exasperation. It was barely a week and now she’s pregnant? He was going crazy.

“I just came to tell you about my symptoms and to prepare you for the coming of our baby. Don’t tell me you’ll abandon your baby, Cole,” she said, trying to brainwash him.

“Get a test done first,” he replied.

She smiled. “I will. Good night, Cole,” she said and walked away. Cole watched her leave as confusion set in his head. He knew he was doomed. Just when Amy was finally coming back to the house and now, this. Was he really not meant to be with Amy?
