“This is my farewell, little one. I will see you… soon.”

Those are the words that kept on haunting me to this second.

Theo may be good with words but they were never that confused as to what he had just said.

I'm like, seriously?

What does he mean that he will see me soon?

Does he mean that he will go to my funeral after I was hanged?

Or does he mean that he will kill himself just to be with me?

No, neither.

Theo has obligations, businesses to attend to and as much as he does not admit it to me, I can see that he has his Kingdom to worry about and I'm only a distraction.

Nothing more.

Regardless, I hurt the man.

I know that he has feelings for me, feelings of admiration and love but it was really just for me or because I just look like his wife?

When confronted, he did not deny it and that hurts to know…

He only wanted me because of the body and the face. His heart had never moved on entirely from loving his destined RED.

Gratefully, I had chosen Mikee.

Suddenly, before I could contemplate further on Elder Kolby's words — most especially when he called me by my REAL surname, I heard the door to my cell open.

Since I was too tired to look up, I didn't say who the person was until my hair was being grabbed and I was dragged again.

Not to the chains to be whipped again, but out of the cell and with one powerful punched to the gut, I realized that I will be beaten this time.

As far as I'm concerned, this is not part of the punishment since one, it is appointed that Elder Kolby only does the punishments here.

Finding that there is more than one beating me to death right now, had me already thinking that this is not right.

And second, the Hue Kingdom completes the death sentence by performing it over a crowd.

So having me beaten to death in silence, and among the shadows of this dungeon, tells me that somebody wanted me dead in an instant and a hush, quiet manner.

Ugh!

Damn this!

That being the case now, and having that small flash of Mikee's face in my mind, I fought back my attackers.

I don't know where I got this strength from to fight back three men who were all wearing a thief's mask, but I got it and I'm doing well.

I kicked and hit a groin.

The tall guy groans as he fell to the ground.

I swing my arm and punch, hitting a chest.

Another guy which was a little shorter from the first one I hit, huffs and coughs.

Yeah, bitches.

I've gone through enough combat training to earn such skill and I'm already happy with what I did. Though when I thought I was doing fair well when a sudden blow to the head knocked me out unconscious.

The only thing I could think of then was Mikee's devastated face if he finds out I died again.

And I don't know if it's because of hanging by the gallows or being hit by a hard object on the head…

That same morning…

I woke up before Nala.

She was still asleep and was snuggling to my neck while her arms wrapped around my upper arm.

She looks adorable…

I gently turn to look at the clock that was sitting on the bedside table and it reads 4:00 A.M.

Instead of falling back asleep, I replay Nala and mine's lovemaking last night.

It was incredible.

Never did I imagine that after three years of not possessing her, I was finally granted the opportunity to do so and I may say, I and Bear went a little overboard.

Especially on the marking.

I caressed one visible claw mark, the one that can be seen on top of her shoulder running down her slim back and just stopping in the middle.

Feeling the bumps of open skin there, I heard Bear purrs in contentment.

‘Mate. Mate. Mate.’ he childishly chants in my head while jumping up and down.

I chuckled at him.

Finally, Nala and I are fully mated and I had marked my territory.

Not did I just broken the protection spell but also got her back.

She's MINE, and no man will ever have her…

She's now my Luna Queen, my other half, and my future. And starting today, I will make sure the whole world will know about this.

Thinking about what we will be doing next, mainly the ceremonies to have her crowned as my Queen, I found myself fast asleep again and when I wake up, six hours later, I found no Nala beside me.

I quickly stood up from the bed and searched my presidential suite.

There's no one.

Her scent lingers but it was a faint smell, which means she had been gone for hours now.

No!

Why did she leave me?

I thought, by completing the mating process, that we have already sealed our fate.

That we will be together, forever…

A sudden pang of pain in my head made my body go stilled and numb.

Someone's hurting Nala…

Since we are fully mated now, I could feel her emotions. Especially when she was in pain and this kind of discomfort tells me someone has her and they are hurting my mate.

But why?

For what?

Bear growls in my head and I did the same.

Feeling that something was up, I mind link my men, and together, we searched the whole resort for her.

We come out empty-handed and I started to feel on edge.

As we got back to my suite, I was quick to notice a note lying on the bedside table. When I opted to read it — and I had wished I hadn't, I found that it was from Nala.

The note says,

‘Mikee,

If you ever read this note, I may have already been punished by one of the elders of the Hue Kingdom, for the fault that we both know we have no control over.

The mate bond between us, it's the most beautiful thing I have ever felt, Michael Angelo. You made me so happy and you have loved me the way I had craved for in the past.

And for that, I could only thank you.

I just wish that I could experience this with you a little longer, however, like in the past, a lot of obstruction had come our way and this time, there is no turning back and for sure, I can't return to you as you may have wished me to.

I had committed TREASON, Mikee.

I know it sounds unfair but I had agreed to this law years back with the sole purpose of keeping the peace between the two races, who once fought for supremacy.

It's not my battle to fight now sweetheart, but I will do this because I want to keep you safe...

Immediately, Bear took over my body and all I could think of was that, I was losing her again.

Thankfully, my men helped me go through the rage, and as quick as we were, we headed out to the Hue Kingdom to get my Nala back.

On the way, I suddenly felt the mate bond snapped.

At first, I was not sure if it was a snap from breaking or just a snap after being stretched out — like a rubber band, but still, the tug on my heart was so powerful that I had to growl viciously to express how painful it was.

Nonetheless, I know that I have felt this 3 years ago, so it is not the one I am thinking of.

No,

Our mate bond didn't snap because Nala… is… Gone.

Then, I heard Bear whimper — the same whimper he had when we saw Nala fall.

No!

It was already night when we reached the Hue Kingdom and with my Alpha tone, I demanded the Vampire King's presence.

They didn't allow me because the leech was out for a business trip and that I had to wait another three days to enter their said ground.

Seeing that my patience was wearing thin and my heart throbbing in undeniable pain, I fought my way to the castle.

Then, when we reached the castle, my whole being stilled and my face goes pale as my eye landed on Nala's lifeless body hanging on the gallows.

No, it can't be.

I tried to come near it and I was not tolerated any further as I already defied so many rules in this Kingdom.

I fell to the ground as I felt everything inside of me died again.

So it was real; the mate bond that I love and cherished, the one I only tasted once, is now really destroyed.

And that's when I shifted.

Bear and I were so devastated that all we could do was howl our pain to the moon above.

Nala is dead…
