Chapter 24: Chapter 24

Legaxy

“I don't know how to thank you enough for your patience and kindness, Dyme.” I heard Ms. Dawn sigh on the other line, “My work is not that easy and the paperwork can be twice as hard. On top of that, you have your very own task to struggle on. Yet, you accepted everything… you're literally my angel.”

I smiled at that.

“It's part of my job, Ms. Dawn,” I stated and Boss made a sound of disagreement.

“Don't make me laugh, Dyme. I know you're doing this for the month leave I have promised you, upon my return.” She retorts and I imagine her rolling her eyes at this.

I only chuckled.

“Damn, you saw through it.”

We both laughed now and I find myself missing her. Even if she was my boss in this hotel, she was also my friend and somewhat, sister.

So not having her here is like loneliness and boredom put into one space.

It's depressing…

“I'm joking, Dyme. I know you are truly thinking about my needs for peace and quiet… You always have. That's why I sincerely thank you.” she sounds genuine and sweet that I almost wanted to cry.

No!

Don't you dare!

I felt my eyes water so more…

DO NOT freaking dare self shed a tear in the middle of the phone zone!

I casually cleared my throat and, trying to sound unaffected, said my welcome.

And just like that, the sweet atmosphere between us went back to becoming serious.

Typical Ms. Dawn…

Anyway, in an authoritative tone now, she proceeded on reminding me of the assignments I needed to accomplish while she was out for a month.

Mostly meetings and tour extravaganzas, since our occupancy rate is at its highest… it's September and one day to October.

Then, with an abrupt goodbye, she finally hung up.

I let out a quiet sigh of relief.

Finally, peace and —

“Ms. Dyme?” a female voice came.

I snapped my head up since I was looking down, to search for the owner of the voice.

When my eyes turned to my left, I found Ms. Jada Lynn, the Security Manager of the hotel, standing in full attention and gazing at me.

A look of concern was evident in her eyes.

Recognizing that stare and understanding that this was another werewolf case, I nodded my head in her direction, and with hasty steps, I followed her to where the trouble was.

Don't worry, I'm already trained for this kind of emergencies.

And, startling as it can be, it's part of the job…

In our hotel protocols, particularly one regarding physical injuries and arising threats, it is expected that a team of personnel will be assembled in order to investigate and respond to the said issue.

The mentioned team consists primarily of managers and appointed staff. But the most important role to be always present is the General Manager.

However, as stated in the agreement, if the GM is not available or present, then it will be the duty of the Personal Secretary to help the designated team in settling down the current tension.

It's dangerous, I do admit that. But this is the job we have signed our lives for.

Matter of fact, if ever I wanted to change my career path, every work in this whole region has the same danger and risks. There's no place that is safe anymore in this world and you can't run away from it, even if you wanted to.

That's why, before we even engaged in the disaster, we make sure we train first.

Momentarily, even in my heels, I caught up with Ms. Jada and we entered the guests' elevator.

While she was briefing me with what happened and what the current condition was, I caught a glimpse of her pushing the button to the second floor.

I stilled.

“The lobby?” I managed to ask through my shock and Ms. Jada nodded at me.

“The royal guest there somewhat got angry with one of our staff and started going BLOODLUST…” Ms. Jada paused and took out her gun — loaded with silver bullets, and the one clinging to her waist.

My eyes widened upon witnessing that.

“You're gonna shoot the guest!” I exclaimed, horror was apparent in my voice and face.

Jada, even after discovering my dread face, nodded her response again.

“If he lost full control of his wolf then that's the time we shoot.” she took the safety off her gun and gave me a serious look, “It's part of the course of action, Ms. Dyme.”

I could only nod — too aghast to even answer her.

As the elevator dings and the door opens, Ms. Jada instinctively positioned herself in front of me, in a protective stance, as we made our way to the scene.

Then, I heard yelling.

“Answer me!” a powerful voice of a man boomed inside the lobby, it almost shook the paintings on the walls.

The Alpha King, I realized.

“I — I d — do — don't understa — and, Si — Sir…” I heard Noel stuttered and that got me to urge my steps.

Oh, please not him… Not Noel.

As we near the disturbance, I saw two broad men — I believe as werewolf warriors with position — already attempting to get their raging Alpha to stand down.

All were trembling, fighting for control.

But what really got my full attention was Noel — he was lifted in the air by one arm of the Alpha King.

No!

Guilt flooded me for I only asked the man for assistance, but here he was, five meters from the ground and being held in the air by the most unstable beast in the world of supernatural.

“Alpha! Calm down.” a brown-headed guy said, snapping me out of my reverie.

Then, I saw him fighting the King's grip, trying to tug it loose, on Noel's shirt collar.

The Alpha King didn't even budge.

“Alpha, do not make another scene!” the other man, the black-headed one, gripped the King's shoulder — a reminder or a warning, I'm not sure.

At first, I notice it kind of snaps him out of his rage. However, when he took in a breath, something transpired and the grip he once let go of came back, and instead on the collar, it's now on Noel's neck.

“Alpha!” his men both shout.

And that's when I reacted, making me moved a little closer to the commotion.

Jada, alarmed now, swiftly grabbed my arm to halt my steps.

I shot her a look and for some reason, with eyes widened, she let go.

Soon after, I heard Noel whimper and my head turned back to the chaos.

Noel was trembling, tremendously, in fear and his eyes were all glistening with big tears. Then, I caught a wet spot on his pants; he pissed.

Poor Noel.

I went a little closer to comfort now and unexpectedly, I saw the King stilled.

Nonetheless, I hardly care because I was so focused on Noel who was now turning blue from a lack of oxygen.

I know I wanted to scream at the King… yell at him, tell him to leave and be gone.

Surprisingly, as I saw a glimpse of his face — since I was now standing on his right side, only a gasp left my lips.

He was beautiful.

Clearly, the Alpha King heard me and before he could let go of Noel, he snapped his head in my direction.

From there, I felt my heart climbed up to my throat.

Oh, MY GOD!

He's so beautiful, so gorgeous that it hurts…

I blinked a few times and that's when I noticed him muttered something. Then, without another word, he let go of Noel who went on running.

That gave me a sense of relief; Noel was now safe.

Though my peace was cut short when my eyes landed on the Alpha King's eyes and for that brief second, everything stood still for me as I felt something click between us.

It felt like we are two-piece of a puzzle being put together for the first time, and then we, surprisingly, fit…

No, that's not right!

Look away, Legaxy!

I internally screamed at myself, trying to get my eyes to shift and glance away, but my body's reflex action was not functioning.

Or kind of like stopped working.

The hell of this!

All I could do then was let my gaze be steady in his direction and kept on staring at his stunned face.

He kind of looks cute and too innocent at that moment…

And that's when I realized when I concentrated on those eyes, I knew this man.
