Chapter 23: Chapter 23

Legaxy

Why?

Among all the days in a week, why did I came back to work on a Wednesday?

It's not that I don't like the day, and the fact that I'm still dog tired from last night's Red Moonball…

It's just that, it's the exact day Ms. Dawn had left me for a trip overseas.

Noooooooooo!

Dramatic of me?

Yes, for she will be gone for a whole month people!

She'll be leaving me with not just duties and responsibilities but also staffs; a hundred and twenty regulars and almost two hundred non-regulars.

I can't even help one person with their issue, and to have this much personnel for a month?

I just wanted to fall flat on the ground and cry.

Though she needed the break and I truly understand the escapade — literally — part she has from her mates. So, as much as I hated this, I just agreed to it.

Besides, she assured me that I will have my very own vacation when she comes home.

And did I mention, it's for a month too?

I smiled.

I just gonna do this job one step at a time and thankfully, I already settled the highlight and one of Ms. Dawn's requests.

The one regarding her mates…

As she promised, the hotel tour planned for her mates did not take long, since the men only wanted her presence.

That being the case, they personally canceled the excursion and just wanted to be checked in as soon as possible.

Lucky me on that.

All I'm left with now are stacks and stacks of paperwork…

Oh yay — note the sarcasm, please.

Presently, I am at Ms. Dawn's office, rummaging her desk when all of a sudden, the door to the General Manager's office opened.

I immediately glanced up — thinking that it was just another staff asking for Ms. Dawn's whereabouts, and found Rain walking towards me, a grin of mischief evident on her face.

Oh, Lord no… not this again.

“Cheeky boo,” she purrs as she reached my table, “can Ate (Big or Older sister in Filipino) Rain have a word with you?” she sweetly asks.

I rolled my eyes at her.

“If your asking me to go to Seth's underwear wardrobe again to God knows what reason now, then my answer is NO. Like a big NOPE… not happening sister.” I turned and grabbed another bundle of unsigned paperwork from Ms. Dawn's office drawer.

I heard her ‘hmp’ and then she, dramatically, let out a heavy sigh.

“But I desperately need to know his underwear brand and, obviously, his size for our twenty-four-hour anniversary gift.” Rain whines, “Come on, Legx. Just try it one more time, and please, make sure Seth was not around when you're sneaking in his room.” she pleads with a pout.

I blushed at that but still, rolled my eyes again.

Oh, God above why this too?

Why, among all the beings in the earth — or more like, supernatural beings in this world, did you pair Rain with Seth?

Not that I don't like the match, since I do love Rain even before I learned that Seth and her were REDs, but they are honestly an unusual couple.

Sure that Seth and her work with the same purpose of saving a life, and they both served with earnest loyalty and commitment, but personality-wise, they are very different.

Seth's on the calm and calculating side, while Rain's a wild and bold chick.

Rain loves to go out and party, while Seth's more laid back and loves to read books.

Lastly, and a fact, Seth — for over two thousand years — never had a formal relationship, while Rain — well, let's just say it's none of my business to tell, or she'll chop my head off.

So yeah, a very odd couple indeed…

Still, I guess that's part of the RED matching process; it matches the rarest and strangest pair ever because they were always the best fit.

I turned back to gaze at Rain and saw how devastated she was — she was genuinely sad not knowing Seth's underwear details.

I sighed.

“First of all, that's too economical for a gift.” I said as I placed the documents down, “Second, EWW because it's underwear and we're talking about my brother here. And last, Seth loves chocolate cake… in case you thought of buying one.”

Rain squeals after hearing that, like I just provided her the greatest idea, and rushed to my side, giving me the tightest hug and softest thank you.

Then, like little red riding hood with the basket, she skipped her way out of the office.

I rolled my eyes once more, and this time, I did it with a smile.

REDs…

Nonetheless, it does makes me question how will I find my own RED. Let alone, wonder if I will ever find one that I can call my own…

Poor me.

I was about to go back and solely focused on the load of papers when my telephone, the one found on my desk, ring.

I quickly walked out of Ms. Dawn's glass office, then pushed the answer button when I reached my table and got it on speaker.

“Good” — I glance at the clock and saw that it was already 4:00 pm — “afternoon. Dyme speaking. How may I help you?”

Without skipping a beat, a lady's voice — I recognized as Maylene — frantically explains to me the situation at the front desk and some contract was missing.

Comprehending the issue, and realizing what she meant about the contract, I politely end the call and hastily searched for the said document on Ms. Dawn's table.

Thank God, Ms. Dawn is an organized person!

Whenever she finished signing off a bundle of contracts, she makes sure she neatly stacks it on her desk.

Then, to make things easy between us, she attached notes for each pile she completed, so that at any time I get it for a follow-through, I will not ask her for any instructions or questions.

Fast and effective…

Aha!

I found it!

I instinctively read the note.

‘Dyme! Give this to grumpy Heinz, already signed.’

Love; Queen Boss…

I chuckled and took the sticky note out of the front page and made a quick browse over the contract, checking for any errors or missed details.

Okay, everything looks good;

All pages are stamped,

Payments are broken down,

Then there's the inclusive goods and services,

Likewise, the exclusive…

Oh, they are on PROMO!

So let's review the hotel's rules and regulations; Great, all are highlighted.

And here are the terms and conditions, also present.

Okay… and all are signed by Ms. Dawn.

Only left is the guest's signature…

But other than that, everything looks perfect.

Furthermore, I was quick to point out that the contract belonged to the Redwood region's Alpha, the werewolves' King.

So he's here…

Oh, I wonder what he looks like.

I never saw him before and he's quite similar to the Vampire King; always hiding in his castle. But it was because he had lost his mate.

Poor guy.

I wonder if he already found his second chance mate…

It's been three years and sure werewolf King like him will be given that second chance by the Moon Goddess.

Wait, why did I even bother to thought about that?

I shook my head and just concentrated on walking fast towards the elevator. Once inside, I pushed the button to the second floor.

All of a sudden, my mobile phone ring.

I checked it and saw Ms. Dawn's name flashed on the screen.

Oh, dear, what now?

Before I could even answer it, I have Noel — who just got inside the elevator coming from the first floor, and one of the front office staff — deliver the said files to the lobby.

At first, I hesitated seeing he was already tired and sleepy — coming from a double shift. But discovering Ms. Dawn was calling me, he snatched the contract from my hands and told me it was not a problem.

Sweet lad.

He even stopped the elevator's door from closing as I walked out of it to answer the boss's call.

I thanked his chivalry and made my way out to the employee's phone zone.
