Chapter 26: Chapter 26
Michael Angelo
The Moon Goddess must be too forgiving, too merciful, to even grant me this blessing.
Or maybe, this is a curse.
She knows how I badly treated Nala from before. How I brought pain and tears to my mate's eyes.
Yet, she allowed this to happen…
She must have taken tremendous pity on my cries of agony and prayers of a second chance with Nala, to even organized this and for that, I was beyond grateful.
Thank you, Moon Goddess!
Currently, I'm still stunned.
My mate. Is. Alive.
Nala is alive…
Even in her surprised expression, my Nala still looks beautiful like the day I lost her.
Though, her hair and physique were different…
Instead of her hair being in her beautiful wavy white locks, it's black. I honestly wonder, at that second, how that happened.
Did she not like her hair from before?
And her body.
Oh, Jesus, her body…
It was toned and fit, unlike before, she was fat.
How did this happen?
Nonetheless, the most important thing that I am happy to ponder about right now is the fact that she was alive. That she's here in front of me, both existing and breathing.
Still, I must be dreaming — I can't help but doubt this.
Instantly, I sniffed the air around her and it's the same scent, the same fragrance of fresh roses, wild peaches, and a hint of vanilla.
No, it was not a dream…
This shits real!
Without warning, I hugged her. Trying to be gentle as possible, but the fear of losing her and the warmth of her skin on mine, made me hugged her tighter.
My Nala is really alive…
Hence, the question remains; how was this possible?
Painful as it might be, but I saw her fall…
Saw her lose her life to a cliff when the Vampire, who kept her hostage at that time, decided to dropped her there.
It was a hundred feet fall to the ground, and it didn't help when the rocks found in that ridge were cut to a point and sharp enough to pierce through the skin.
I winced upon recalling that.
Point is, I saw her die and yet, she's here…
I must admit, it was a frustrating moment for me since I have never been clueless all my life. I always have answers and not having any to my burning questions this instant made me almost wanted to rapid-fire question Nala.
‘Do not do it, Angelo. You see the reaction she has? She doesn't know us. And we just got her back… don't pressure her to remember. Let alone, don't make her recall anything…yet.’ Bear, for the first time since we enter this building, calmly suggested.
I internally nod at him.
And from that, I held Nala tighter to my chest, and to my surprise, she hugged me back; her arms wrapping around my waist.
Bear, in the back of my head, could only howl his happiness.
Nala.
Our beautiful, little Miracle…
On instinct, and I couldn't help it even if I wanted to, I positioned my head on her neck — the same place where I should have marked her — and inhaled her scent some more.
So sweet and delectable… I became addicted once more.
Moreover, it made me crazy rather than calm…
I know, it was not a proper thing to display. Especially, in a public area like this, but this is my mate and I hardly care for other people's opinion about it.
This is me and my mate bond talking now…
Thus, with all of this happening and me touching her without her permission, Nala was extremely calm.
Much less, comfortable in my arms.
It was supposed to be not normal in her eyes, and she should be pushing me or screaming at me for hugging her, but she did none.
For this reason, it leads me to believe that she knew me.
Though, she didn't say anything and Bear explained she doesn't know us…
So, I kept quiet and savor the moment until she jerked out of my hold.
At first, it scared me, and the violent reactions that I have been waiting, a second ago, were now about to explode right in front of my face — also expecting a slap or a punch.
But when my eyes trailed down to her neck, everything inside of me goes frigid and my mind went numb.
There was red liquid oozing out of her neck —
Fuck, that's Blood!
She was bleeding and I could tell she was in pain for her face contorted and her breathing ragged.
Then, she let out a whimper.
Immediately, I panic.
I never saw her in pain for so long that I didn't know what to do. It didn't help when Bear started barking orders at me, causing my body to tremble in worry.
Fuck, no!
Not having any options to choose from, or much like not have thought of any, I began wrapping my arms around her once again only to be ordered not to.
I looked around and saw a tall woman, dressed in black trousers and a collared black shirt, aiming a gun at me.
I sniffed and smelled the silver bullets.
What the fuck?
Is this somewhat part of their procedure?
It's not even safe or fair, to say the least, unless otherwise, it's that dangerous…
But, I didn't even do anything wrong!
“Put your hands behind your head and step away from the woman!” the lady in black ordered.
My men, who just got out of their own shock, almost attacked the woman upon discovering the gun in her hands.
Thankfully, when I barked my command to stand down, they listened, and even with trembling bodies, they backed away but made their way towards me.
They then stood on guard beside me, waiting for the woman's next movement.
On impulse, the woman in black used her small radio, and with haste, requested for backup and medic.
At the word medic, my eyes immediately went back to stare at Nala.
She was still gazing at me, unaware of the blood flowing out of her neck. I was just about to point that out when I discovered that the place where she was bleeding, was the exact location of where I should have marked her.
What the fuck?
What does that mean?
Nala took in my alarmed expression that she raised her hand to touch the spot and when she saw the blood on her hands, she shot me a dreadful look.
As if that expression of hers was telling me that I just mark her without her permission…
Fuck, of course not!
I may have missed her this hard, but I will not do anything that will surely harm her — especially in our first meeting.
And that includes marking her without her permission.
She must have comprehended that I didn't do it that her shoulders sagged in relief.
For some unknown reason, her relaxation turned into an abrupt embarrassment as she started shifting her glances all around the room — not even landing on me.
Then, I noticed the notion that she wanted to run but before she could even take a step backward, and away from me, she fainted.
With undeniable quick reflex, I caught her just in time, before her head hit the stone floor.
Hereafter, I felt everything around me slowed down and my lungs stopped working the second I hold Nala's limp body.
Oh, Moon Goddess!
Not this feeling of loss again, please!
Worried, I carried Nala's body and was about to take her to a clinic or hospital — whichever was near in this place, when Heinz quickly mind-linked me, reminding me of the medic that was coming our way.
Relieved, I continued holding her in my arms.
As my mind began to relax, just listening to the steady heartbeat of my mate, I noticed a crowd gathered around us.
The look of interest and curiosity apparent in these mixed-race and human faces, while for the werewolves present, they look astonished upon seeing me with a girl lying in my arms.
It was no secret for them that I was a cold and a heartbreaker of a man.
I do not care about women's feelings and only used them for my benefit. Regardless, that was three years ago — when I lost Nala to the war, and now that she's here, I guarantee no other women will be above her.
Let alone, replace her.
She's the only one… no one can satisfy me more than she does.
That's when I heard the whispers; all were worried about her.
Consequently, I sense multiple beings moving toward me — mainly human — and when I turned to stare, I see it was five men.
I recognize that they were employees of the hotel — aside from the dress code, they have name tags with the hotel's logo.
I immediately growled.
“MINE!” I announced and that got the five of them to halt.
Thus, one was about to bravely protest when Heinz interfered him.
“Kevin, get your ass off here and help me calm down the crowd. Now!” he orders the blonde guy that was about to complain, and seeing that the crowd was growing, the dude left.
Heinz mind links me again. This time, he asked me to wait.
I nodded in his direction as he and Kevin, and two more staff proceeded on settling down the mentioned group.
Even with the employees' best, some lady — as I discover as human, still shouted in panic at the sight of blood, causing another uproar and later chaos.
Ugh!
Can't I have a break?
‘Rock! Luck!’ I mind-linked my Gamma and Beta, ‘Control the fucking crowd! It's making me and Bear more stressed than usual. Also, do a security check, make sure no leeches are lurking around.’ I commanded.
‘Yes, Alpha!’
And there go my men.
They worked their way around and slowly, they made the numbers go down until the mob was nowhere to be found like it didn't even exist.
Furthermore, as casual as possible, the two lads surveyed the place. Checking for the said threat since Nala's blood was everywhere.
And when there's blood, there are leeches — Vampires.
Having found none, the boys subtly nodded their heads at me as if saying that everything was safe and in the meantime, under control.
Despite the mayhem, I still caught a glimpse of the boys' shocked and baffled faces.
Who wouldn't be?
You have witnessed your Queen and friend died three years ago and here, before them and tucked in my arms, is that same person.
It was like, the incident that happened before didn't really occur… that it was all but a bad dream.
‘How was this possible, Alpha?’ Jay was the first one to ask in mind link.
Surprisingly, even with all this disarray, Blessy never woke up and was still asleep in my warrior's arms. When Jay inquired, he was near me and that's when I noticed the earplugs on my sister's ears.
Oh, now I see…
Smart thinking.
‘She died three years ago.’ Rock carelessly pointed out, earning a growl from Bear.
His mouth automatically clasped shut when he recognized that it was my wolf expressing and not just me.
‘Must be a trick… a spell of some sort. I don't have any specifics but I could tell it was a Witch's doing. They always have the most grudge towards us, you know.’ Jay stated.
‘True, but not all, Jay.’ Lucky, for the first time, said. ‘Witches have to be evil and wicked to do powerful magic.’ he added.
‘Oh. But it could be a different trick…’ Jay asserted.
‘Could be…’ Lucky conceded.
‘Apologies gentlemen but for now, I don't have any answers to provide you. We'll have to wait for Nala to wake up and explain everything to us — IF, she has any.’ I cut off the mind link and softly kiss Nala's forehead.
Soon, for more than ten minutes or so, we heard footsteps and yells.
The backup, I realized.
That means the medic was here also…
I turned around and was just in time for a lady, in a white nurse uniform, to come rushing from the depths of the hallway.
Finally!
Her eyes wandered, searching, and when she saw Nala in my arms, she gasped and without skipping a beat, she dashes towards us.
As she neared our position and was close enough for me to smell, I stilled.
She was a witch.
Much less, a white one.
