Chapter 87: Chapter 87
Azraiel left the pack early in the morning on Saturday after kissing and hugging her goodbye. Charlotte felt sad as she saw his care drive away but forced herself to not cry. She didn’t have to try for long because then Ayleen woke up and hasn’t left her side since then. After helping her make breakfast, she laid down an elaborate plan of their pack tour today. They’ll leave the house at twelve and go to the mall and clothing stores for shopping. Then by two they will have their lunch at the new place she has reserved a table at. Then they’ll go to the dessert store that Ayleen wants her to try. After which they’ll go do some more shopping and then Ayleen will show her the library and the book stores. Well, Ayleen has said a lot more that they have to do today but Charlotte completely zoned out when she realized that she won’t be able to remember it all in any case.
After the breakfast, Charlotte quickly took a shower and did her meditation hoping to see if she could get any more information on the supernaturals but to her utter disappointment the species didn’t show up in her meditation this time. After her meditation and journaling, she decided to read the books that matt has given her, the ones about the supernaturals.
She started reading the book and kept a blank paper and a pen at her side so she could write down the name of the supernatural she feels she resonates with.
Instead of reading in the alphabetical order, she randomly flipped the pages and stopped when she felt like it. To her surprise, the first supernatural was the werewolf. She read all the twenty pages that summarized everything about the werewolves.
“Right it down already.” Her wolf snapped at her, angry that she had to read it before writing it down.
Charlotte ignored her and finished the reading and then wrote ‘werewolf’ as the number one in her list.
She flipped the pages again and this time she landed on the fairies.
As she read about the fairies, her head started to hurt. She paused her reading and gulped down some water. After a few minutes she started reading it again. She was barely able to read a few lines that a sharp pain exploded in the right side of head and she clutched it as if that’d help to contain the pain.
Forcing herself to breathe normally, she walked out to the balcony and sat down on the chair.
May be some air would help. She thought to herself.
It did help. The pain subsided in a few minutes and she went inside to go back to the book.
But as soon as she started reading it again, the headache returned. Frustarted, she shut the book down and kept it aside.
“Write it down.” Her wolf whispered.
“What?” Charlotte asked in confusion.
“Write the name of fairies in your list.” Her wolf responded quietly.
“But..Why? I haven’t even read about them yet.” Charlotte asked trying to figure out the reason behind her wolf’s wish.
“Just trust me. Write it.” Her wolf snapped.
Worried that she’d anger her more, Charlotte quickly put ‘fairies’ below ‘werewolves’ but she didn’t think that they were fairies amongst the species in her.
She flipped the pages of the book again after her wolf’s weird behavior. The page opened to that of ‘werecats’. Charlotte was surprised at that.
Werecats…huh!
There’s no way that this is real, she thought to herself.
But as she started reading the headache returned, forcing her to stop after every couple of minutes and take a break. Once she finished reading it, she felt no need to add it to her list.
“Write it down.” Her wolf stopped her as she was about to flip pages again.
“W..what?” Charlotte stuttered.
“Just write it down.” It felt like her wolf was grinding her teeth.
Feeling her heart drop in her stomach, she somehow forced her hands to write it down in the list.
“Charlotte, get ready! We’ll leave in half an hour.” She heard Ayleen yell from downstairs and responded with an ‘okay’, her voice sounding strange to her own ears.
There’s no way that there’s a fairy and a werecat inside her, right? Right?
Charlotte was borderline panicking now but she didn’t want to ruin the day Ayleen has planned. So she unwillingly got ready and tried to behave normally.
When she went downstairs, she found Theo sitting on the sofa.
“You won’t leave us all day, will you?” She asked him, remembering her mate’s words.
“Nope! Alpha’s orders. I am your bodyguard for today.” She shook her head at that.
“Come on. It won’t be bad. I’ll even help you get some good fashionable clothes instead of the bags you have been wearing till now.” He replied.
“Bags, really?” Charlotte smiled at him.
“Yep! You have lost a lot of weight during the training and those clothes are way too loose now.”
“I agree.” Ayleen joined them dressed in a light pink sundress and a brown sling bag on her shoulder.
“See..! Even Lia agrees with me.” He tried messing Ayleen’s hair lovingly and she frowned swatting his hands away.
“No..Not my hair Theo. Keep your hands away from me.” Ayleen looked like a five -year old with her hands on her lips and a cute frown on the face.
“Sureee!” Theo said with a grin that said he was going to do anything but that.
Charlotte loved the relationship between Ayleen and Theo. He was like a second brother to her, messing with her all the time but still caring and loving her the most.
Before they left the house, Charlotte silently prayed to the Universe and Moon Goddess to give her clues about the werecat and fairy thing that happened this morning. Maybe the signals would help her determine what she couldn’t.
***********
She did get a lot of signals.
Or
Maybe it was her subconscious mind playing tricks on her.
The first two hours of their shopping were great. Ayleen and Charlotte tried on dress after dress and Theo helped them pick the best ones. He was surprisingly a good shopping companion. He didn’t complaint, he helped them shop and carry the bags and most importantly he kept them entertained. There wasn’t a dull moment with that guy with them.
It all started after the lunch.
Ayleen dragged them to the dessert shop near the restaurant. There were three cakes with cats drawn on them in the glass shelf on the display. Charlotte ignored them as coincidence.
After that they went to do some more shopping. The boutique they entered was jam packed. A small girl of 10 was there with her friends as she wanted a fairy themed birthday party and was there to try on the dresses she ordered. To say the least, Charlotte has never seen that many fairies in a day.
After that it was pure chaos and panic in Charlotte’s mind. The cat design on her coffee. The fairy wings decoration in a shop. The cat and fairy costumes on display in a shop they passed by. A kid’s song featuring cats and fairies blasting in the mall. The fairy decorations and mannequins outside a kids clothing shop they passed by in the mall and many more.
By the time they reached home, Charlotte was barely controlling her panic. All the day she has done breathing exercises and paid attention to what Ayleen and Theo were saying so that they won’t get suspicious of her behavior and tell Azraiel. He is already worried as he is, no need to trouble him more.
“Okay ladies..If there’s nothing more, I’ll leave!” Theo said as he put the bags on the table.
“Wait, I’m making coffee. Don’t go without drinking it.” Ayleen shouted from the kitchen.
Charlotte helped her take the cakes and cookies out in the drawing room.
After a few minutes as they sat there chatting and drinking coffee, Theo suddenly stopped speaking and his face grew serious. Charlotte and Ayleen looked at each other as they realized that he was mindlinking.
“I have to go. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” He suddenly stood up.
“Theo..wait. What happened?” Charlotte stopped him, not liking the way his behavior changed suddenly.
“Don’t worry. It’s just pack business. I’ll handle it.” He replied and started walking away.
“and I’m your Luna.” He stopped in his tracks when Charlotte said that. She has every right to know what was happening here even more so when Azraiel wasn’t here.
“Theo..I’m ordering you tell me what’s going on.” She heard him curse under his breath but he turned around.
“The red eyed creatures just dropped a letter at our pack borders.”
