Chapter 118: Chapter 118

Katya breathes in the musky scent of her home. Nothing and absolutely nothing smells as good as your home. Yeah… maybe except for your mother.

She sighs and turns to Matt. “What would you like? Tea, coffee...cold drink?”

“Just water. Thanks.” He answers and looks around the living room.

Katya nods and fetches him a glass of water.

“It’ll take me a while to look through her books. You can watch the T.V. if you want.” She says to him even though she is sure that the T.V. is just a showpiece.

Katya hasn’t been to this house for years. She has been traveling across the world mastering her craft and learning from different cultures. She knows she didn’t want to come here because this place has so many memories.

But today, she is meant to be here. She long ago realized that nothing is a coincidence and everything happens as it is meant to be.

She walks upstairs ignoring the pang in her chest as she feels her mother’s presence in the house.

She is here! She’ll always be here!

Katya unlocks the door to her mother’s study and looks at the large wall filled with books. Her mother loved reading and since she also loved creating spells, her collection of grimoires was exceptional.

Katya walked and stood in front of the bookshelf and closed her eyes. She didn’t have to try to conjure up the face of her mother. It came to her in an instant. She smiled unwillingly. “Hey, mum! I need your help.”

It took a few moments but then the temperature of the room dropped and she knew she was there. She wouldn’t meddle in her life but if she asks for help; her mother will always help her.

“You already know what’s happening. I don’t know if you are aware of the reason behind everything but I believe that if I am being called for help then it means that I have a purpose in this whole ordeal.” Katya speaks to her mother in her mind. “Please help me to do what’s right.”

It isn’t long before she hears a thud. She opens her eyes to see a large book that has fallen off the shelf.

Katya smiles and says “Thank you” to her mother. She picks up the book and focuses on the help she needs. It’s her mother’s personal journal and she caresses the cover gently. Her intuition calls her to open a certain page and her fingers automatically open the said page.

The title of the page reads “Forest Magic”.

Katya frowns but reads it anyway.

“The magick is a living being. It lives, breathes, talks and feels. Magick is always bound to something. It could be a person, a thing, an emotion, or an event but it is never alone. You just have to understand how to communicate with it.”

She moves to the entry that her mother made on 6th October 1968.

“It’s a full moon today. I am in Rysterbia on my way back from the King’s castle. There have been strange events happening. The wolves claim to feel the presence of a supernatural but are unable to identify the scent and catch the being. The King is afraid that we might get attacked. He asked a few of us to discuss the situation and wants to cover the forest with new and stronger magic. I don’t mind doing that.

But here’s the thing. It doesn’t feel like anything out of ordinary in these woods. Every being present here feels like they were supposed to be here. Yes, I did sense something more powerful than wolves in the woods but the aura doesn’t feel dangerous. Instead, it gives the vibes of someone innocent yet powerful. However, all the witches have decided to identify the supernatural before covering the woods with magic.”

This seems a lot like what others have experienced with Charlotte, Katya thinks to herself.

There is another entry on the same date.

“The other witches say that they caught a glimpse of a child in the woods. A child? What could a child be doing all alone in the woods at this hour? We tried to follow where they said they could hear the crying of the child but we couldn’t find anything. As far as these woods are concerned, there is already something mystical here. I don’t know if it’s the old magic or the child but there is something that is not normal but it doesn’t mean it is dangerous.”

She looks at the entry on 7th October 1968.

“I saw her. I saw the child. She is a lovely little human dressed in rosy garb. She could be hardly two but the aura and scent coming off from her are that of a seasoned werewolf. Now here’s the thing, when I moved to grab the child, she vanished. Poof..in the air! Just like that!

All of us have agreed that this is indeed a supernatural being that we don’t know of. So, we have decided to seek answers from those who have seen it all. The woods! These trees and plants have been tied to magic for so long that they surely know what’s going on. Let’s see if they are willing to talk to us or not.”

Another entry on the same day reads:

“We did a spell to communicate with forest magic. Of course, it didn’t talk to us in our language but it sure did mess up our minds. We all thought that someone was calling us but there was no one apart from us here. Each one of us followed the voice that called our name. As a result, we split up in different directions. I went to the east. I followed the voice till it stopped and it lead me toward the borders of a pack. The Blue Orchid pack!

I didn’t cross the border but decided to meditate there since there must be something that the woods wanted me to know. This meditation was something else. The woods led me to the child in my meditation. I saw her, I talked to her during my meditation. Of course, she can’t speak but her higher self can! She isn’t ordinary! No…I asked her who she is and she said that I’ll know when it’s the right time. I asked her where her mother is and she said that she is where she should be. I asked her what’s my purpose in all that was happening and she said that I’ll meet her later in life as a means to save her and my next generation would save hers. I really thought that it was some sort of demon taking control of my mind until I saw HER…the Moon Goddess! She looks ethereal. I get it now why people are so in awe of her. The Moon Goddess has asked me to help the Alpha of the Blue Orchid pack and she said that it is all connected but I’ll know when it’s the right time!

I sure hope that I stay alive to know what all this means!”

Katya’s mind is flooding with information.

“my next generation would save hers”

Wait…

The only people that Katya has saved or is attempting to save are Ayleen and Charlotte..

It can’t be Ayleen’s mother in 1968 since she would be older than that child of two years…so that leaves…

Does that mean…

That the child in 1968 was actually Charlotte’s mother?
