Chapter 115: Chapter 115
“Sshhhh..” Kira shuts him up.
She moves close to the white wolf slowly.
Theo quickly pulls out his cell phone and texts the Alpha. If and he is almost sure that this white wolf is indeed a Trueblood then there is no way that Theo and Kira can fight it off by themselves.
“Theo?” He looks up when he hears Kia whisper.
He steps forward to see what happened. “It’s unconscious!” Kira says looking at the giant white wolf.
“I’ve informed Alpha. He is coming with warriors and a truck to take it to the pack.”
Kira frowns and steps back. “Is it just me or you too aren’t getting the Trueblood vibes from it?”
“No… it’s not just you!” Theo assures her. “I can’t feel that sort of aura here. We’d have found it in an instant because of the powerful aura, wounded or not.”
“Do you think its smell and aura are concealed by magic?” Kira asks with a bitter taste in her mouth. More magic…great! She thinks to herself.
“It looks like it.” Theo says.
“Do you have the wolfsbane?” he asks Kira. “yeah.” She takes a small vial out of the pocket of her jacket and carefully steps closer to the wolf. She opens the cap and drops two drops of concentrated oil on each of the wolf’s paws.
She’ll be honest. She did expect it to at least move in pain if not cry out. But nothing happened. It lay there out cold…completely unconscious.
“That’s weird.” Theo wonders and Kira knows he is thinking about the same thing.
Both of them circle around the wolf in childlike wonder to find anything that could be useful. They have never seen another white wolf other than their Alpha.
Each of them scrutinizes the wolf silently, now feeling less afraid of its size than earlier.
“He’s here!” Kira says after a while.
Theo turns and his ears perk up at the sound.
After a few minutes, his Alpha and the warriors come in sight.
And there it is…Theo thinks to himself…The powerful Trueblood aura.
A huge truck stops a few meters away at the clearing…whereas Alpha walks towards them with warriors trailing behind.
Theo can’t tell what he is thinking…as far as he knows, Alpha has never met another Trueblood.
“Are you guys okay?” He directs the question at Kira and him.
“Yeah...” They say together.
“Has it moved?” He enquires as he carefully walks closer.
“No…not even when we put wolfsbane…” Theo mutters.
Alpha Azraiel simply nods and circles the wolf. He then leans down and puts his fingers in front of the snout of the wolf.
“It’s magic. His aura is concealed by magic.” Alpha Azraiel states and then holds the hind leg of the wolf between his both palms.
Theo and Kira watch with wide eyes as their Alpha closes his eyes and starts chanting something under his breath. Within a few seconds, a striking blue light starts emitting from his palms and forms a shackle around the wolf’s leg.
The temperature around them drops a bit and a shiver runs down Theo’s spine.
They watch in wonder as Alpha Azraiel continues to do so with each of the legs of the wolf and soon enough the wolf’s whole body is inside a cage made of bright blue light. As the Alpha steps back from the wolf, the light disappears.
He turns to them and says, “It won’t wake up for a few hours. I’ve taken permission from the Head Coordinator to put it in the old dungeons outside our pack. I don’t want others to know that there is another Trueblood in the woods. They will start panicking and that’s the last thing we want right now.”
Kira and Theo just nod, too dumbfounded by what they just saw.
Alpha Azraiel pays no attention to their lack of response and asks the warriors to carry the huge wolf to the truck.
Dozens of warriors line up to lift the wolf. Theo and Kira snap out of their motionless state and join them. Even though there are more than three dozen men lifting the wolf, it feels like half of their work is done by their Alpha who is in the front, carrying the upper body of the wolf by himself.
Lord, years with this guy and he still manages to amaze me! Theo wonders.
The ride is silent as they are all exhausted from the huge task of putting the wolf in the truck.
When they reach the dungeons, the driver unscrews the back part of the truck and thankfully they just have to slide the wolf on the sled to transport it to the cell instead of actually lifting it. Nonetheless, they finish the task and Alpha Azraiel puts them all on guard in the dungeons. He then excuses himself to make some phone calls and informs them that their lunch will be here soon.
“Did you find anything else in the woods?” Alpha Azraiel asks Theo as they stand outside the dungeons.
“No.” Theo sighs. “Even the cameras didn’t capture it entering the woods in human form.”
“The most logical explanation is that this white wolf is Richard, but if it is, then who the hell have our men been trailing for weeks?” Alpha Azraiel sounds frustrated and rightfully so.
“Yeah…if he is indeed Richard then it means that the number of our enemies just increased because then the person pretending to be him is involved in this too.”
Alpha Azraiel nods.
He pulls out his phone and makes a call.
“Alpha!” The person on the other side greets him.
“Listen. I want you to pretend that you are not trailing Richard anymore. I want you to stay in the shadows and make him relax. Make sure that he doesn’t leave the next city without revealing his true identity.” He lays down the instruction in brief.
“As you say, Alpha.” The call disconnects.
“Theo!” He turns to him. “Stay here and inform me of any development. The Head Coordinator is coming to the pack in a few hours. I’ll meet him and bring him here when the wolf will start gaining consciousness. Instruct the warriors to not go near the white wolf.”
And just like that he leaves, while Theo is left wondering how he did the blue light cage thing in the woods and just what more is he actually capable of.
******
Azraiel drops in his chair at the office and sighs.
The Head Coordinator will be here in half an hour and he has no fucking clue as to how this day will unfold.
First, Katya experienced something in the woods and then something similar happened with Kira, only it led to the discovery of the white wolf they were searching for.
What he doesn’t understand is how did they miss it in the first place?
A huge white wolf is not something that any of them could have overlooked even if they wanted to. Yet, somehow his dozens of men and best warriors and trackers didn’t find it after hours of patrolling the woods.
It’s like the magic didn’t want them to find it until now.
But again, why now? Why like this?
And how the hell did a Trueblood get injured? Are there powers stronger than Trueblood in the woods or the forest magic is capable of hurting a Trueblood?
The questions started coming one by one in his head and just to declutter his mind he actually writes them all down on a page.
This whole thing has messed with his head. He wanted to pay attention only to Charlotte in the last few days before her shift and yet that’s not where his time is being spent. He has strictly told her to focus on the shift and leave everything else to him.
“Alpha, The Head Coordinator is here!” The warrior stationed at the border informs him via mindlink.
“Okay, thanks!” He quickly cleans up his desk and gulps down a glass of water.
This is going to be a long day!
******
Daniel Scott looks as young and energetic as he did the last time Azraiel saw him.
They shake hands firmly and walk to his office.
“Has it woken up?” The Head Coordinator asks Azraiel.
“No.” Azraiel replies. “I shackled him with my Trueblood powers.”
“Ah…I forgot you can use them.” Daniel exclaims. “Good then, when will it wake up?”
“Two hours..at the least.” Azraiel answers.
Daniel nods. “Any trouble at your supernatural camp?” He refers to the place where the other supernaturals have been staying.
“No.” Azraiel shook his head. “I still can’t get over the fact that so many supernaturals are living together peacefully.”
“Neither can I.” Daniel chuckles. “When you first told me about them, I was so sure that I’d have to deploy the Royal Army to control them just after a few hours.”
Azraiel smiles.
“Anything from the ‘Head’?” He asks.
“No.” Daniel sighs and a shadow passes his face. “His last text was the one I showed you.” He hesitates before he continues. “Azraiel..I-I feel like this Head is somehow incapable of entering the woods and hence wants me to relay the messages. Why else would he do so otherwise?”
“You are right!” Azraiel agrees. “I feel that too. Especially ever since those supernaturals have come here without the magic stopping them, I feel that the Head is somehow incapable of entering the woods physically.” Azraiel concludes.
“Yeah..which brings me to the question…What the fuck are we going to do if all these people turn into Therians…the species that can take any form of supernatural species?”
“If that happens…they’ll have to go through the confusion and hunger every species encounter when turned first.” Azraiel knows what he is talking about.
“Yeah…and some of them aren’t just hungry for food, you know that don’t you?” Daniel asks seriously.
Azraiel instantly gets his mistake. He didn’t consider this.
Fuck!!!
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!
Some of them won’t be hungry for food…
Some will crave other living beings…
Some will crave blood…
And some will simply crave havoc and destruction!
