Katya looks around the woods and sighs. She has been wandering in the woods with Matt hoping to find any clue as to why and how the hell did so many supernaturals enter the woods at the same time without getting hurt?

Does the magic not work anymore?

Or… it works just fine but didn’t want to hurt these supernatural species?

Ugh… it’s confusing!!

“You okay?” Matt asks suddenly.

“uh… yeah!!” She tucks a hair strand behind her ear.

“I think we should take a break. You look tired. “He says.

“No… I… l am fine.”

Matt doesn’t say anything but sighs heavily.

“Let’s head back. ‘Katya says and turns around.

“Katya!”

“Yeah?” She turns around when She hears her name and looks at Matt.

He looks at her weirdly. “Huh… -what?”

“You called my name.” Her brows furrow.

“Uh. No.. l didn’t.” He looks worried.

“Yes. You did. It’s just the two of us here.” Katya says looking around.

Matt suddenly looks alert as he puts his finger to his lips, and looks around. After looking in every direction when he is satisfied that there is no one else there, he finally

looks at her.

“We need to get out of here,” Matt says seriously and Katya agrees.

They don’t utter a word as they trudge through the dense woods. The silence is deafening with the sound of dried leaves crunching beneath their feet.

Katya walks faster when she sees the car. They rush towards it and get inside.

Katya breathes deeply as she leans back and closes her eyes. Matt quickly starts the car and drives away. They don’t utter a word until they cross the border of The Blue Orchid Pack.

As soon as Matt parks the car in front of the packhouse, Katya quickly exits the car and slams the door shut. She puts her palm on her chest and tells her heart that it is

okay and that she isn’t in danger anymore.

“You okay?” Matt asks her as he comes to her.

“Yeah..” She could barely speak.

“Come on.” Matt asks her to get inside the packhouse.

“I have informed Alpha. He is waiting for us in his office.” He says as they make their way to Azraiel’s office.

The door to his office is open when they reach there.

“Come on in..and close the door.” Azraiel speaks up without looking at them.

They enter his office and sit as Azraiel leans back in his chair.

“Matt told me everything through the mindlink.” The Alpha looks at her. “Who do you think it was?”

“I…” Katya licks her lips that suddenly feel try. “I am..I am not sure- but I think it was the magic.”

Azraiel nods. “It’s possible…that the magic was trying to tell you something.”

Katya nods. “Yeah…but Alpha…” she struggles to find the words. “The magic in the woods can’t work on its own…it…it always takes a form to communicate...”

Azraiel doesn’t look surprised by her words. “I know.”

Katya closes her eyes as she realizes it. Alpha Azraiel has already considered every question that she has been asking herself.

“What do you suggest we should do?” He asks her.

“I was thinking about going home for a while…I can search about this in my mother’s journals…maybe I could find a spell in her grimoire that could provide solutions.” Katya hesitantly answered.

“Okay..” Azraiel nods. “Just tell me when you want to leave. Matt will drop you off outside the woods.”

Katya nods. “I was thinking maybe today itself…We don’t have much time.”

Azraiel sighs. “Yes..we don’t. But it’s Charlotte’s shift after four days. Can you come back by then? God forbid if something happens during the shift with so many

supernaturals present in one place, I’d need you to control the situation.”

“Yes... I just need a day.”

“Great then…take Matt with you. Find whatever you need to find and come back with him.” Azraiel says with a straight face.

Shit!

Not a good idea!

“Uh- that won’t be necessary. I can manage on my own.” She stutters.

“I know you can manage on your own.” Azraiel says softly. “But everything is messed up right now. I don’t want you in any danger. So please, take Matt with you.”

“Okay!” She knows he added that ‘please’ only to soften the sentence and it isn’t a request but an order.

“Good then..let me know if you find anything or need my assistance,” Azraiel says to her and goes back to his work.

Matt and Katya leave his office and decide to meet here in an hour so that they can leave.

As Katya packs her bag, her mind races with different scenarios of who could be in the woods.

The voice..it was strange but somehow familiar.

It could be that the magic was trying to screw with her head…but the question still remains.

No one who isn’t supposed to be in the woods can enter the vast forest because the magic chases them away….then how come so many supernaturals entered the woods without alerting anyone?

Or is the magic fine and these supernaturals were supposed to always be here…always?

Kira and Theo are standing at the entrance of the Coral woods. The same place where Charlotte spent the night waiting for Sarah…the same place from where one is supposed to enter the magical forest…of course, without actually seeing it.

After Charlotte told them about how she entered the woods, they installed secret cameras all around the woods and entrance to track any suspicious activity. They have

put their men on work to go through the footage from inside the woods as well as from the cameras at the entrance.

The white wolf spotted inside the forest was probably not Richard.

In fact, they have no idea who it was!

Why?

Because whoever it was has appeared in the camera footage only in the wolf form.

Yeah, even the entrance ones!

“I really think we should get the magic checked!” Kira comments on the magic’s failure to keep people out of the woods.

“Yeah..? Kira already did that… she didn’t find anything wrong with it.” Theo says.

“Then maybe…we should get another witch.” Kira is aware of how bitter she sounds but she can’t help it. There has always been a kind of animosity between Katya and her and she has no idea why. But she is sure of one thing, Katya doesn’t like Kira and that’s fine! She can now dislike her without feeling guilty about it.

Katya enters the woods and knows Theo is right behind her.

“I am not going to comment on that!” Theo decides to stay neutral.

“Who do you think it could be?” He changes the subject.

“No freaking idea…but whoever it is …is a Trueblood and that is something worth fearing!” Kira states the obvious.

“Are we sure it isn’t Richard?” She asks after pondering on the thought in her mind.

“Sort of… I mean obviously, we can’t be sure…but our men have been on his trail for weeks now and they are fairly certain that he is not in Rysterbia!”

“Hmmm…” Katya considers what he just said.

“Kiiiiiraaa…” Someone calls her name in a sing-song voice and Kira stops in her tracks.

She looks at Theo who is looking at her with the same alert expression as hers.

Both of them look around but see no one.

“Hello?” She opens her mouth. “Is someone here?”

The sound of someone giggling makes something drop in her stomach.

“Kira…let’s get out of here!” Theo whispers as he comes close to her.

Kira doesn’t want to leave but the forest magic has always spooked her and with her sanity hanging by a thread there is no way that she is going to take any chance.

“Yeah…” She whispers back and they start rushing towards their pack.

“Kiiiiiraaaa…..Come close!” The creepy voice says and Kira has to put so much effort to not look in the direction of the voice.

“Theo…” She looks at him, “I….I feel like I can’t control myself….it’s luring me!” She pants.

Theo looks around in panic and then holds her shoulders. “Kira…Kira…relax…look at me! The magic doesn’t hurt anyone who is supposed to be in the woods. We

belong here…we have been living here for years…it won’t hurt us…okay?”

Kira nods but doesn’t feel assured.

“Kiiirraaaa….” The voice calls her again.

This time, Kira does turn around.

On their own accord, her feet start moving in the direction of the voice. She knows Theo is following her but feels like she is in a trance…only aware of the path that would lead her to the voice.

She walks for a few minutes, going deeper into the woods and then she stops.

At a clearing!

She looks around to see if anyone is there but finds no one.

The trance is broken! The voice wanted her to reach here…but why?

“Kira!” Theo calls her name and she turns toward him.

“Listen carefully!” He says with a warning in his eyes.

She frowns but does as he says. She concentrates on the sounds, asking her wolf to come forward and lend her senses.

She doesn’t hear anything for a while….

But then

There it is!

A heartbeat!

Theo and Kira give each other a look and slowly and soundlessly walk in the direction of the sound!

As they approach the sound, Kira’s heart thumps loudly.

“Fuck!” Theo says and she agrees!

There behind the trees is a wolf lying injured, its body twisted at odd angles…

A white fucking wolf!
