Chapter 104: Chapter 104

Charlotte and Azraiel look at each other with tons of questions in their eyes.

A Prophecy!

What the hell is going on?

“I know what you are thinking.” Daniel’s voice breaks their eye contact.

“You had no idea a prophecy like that existed. Well..” He sighs and leans back, “You were really young at that time and we all dismissed it since we never could have imagined you as a Trueblood back then…but now, it all makes sense.”

“Are you sure there is no copy of the rest of it?” Charlotte asks.

“No…I mean I don’t know. I have searched the records at King’s palace. I have also searched the records at the astrologer’s place but it isn’t there. I wish I could remember what it said but honestly, the astrologer said a lot of things and none of them had come true, so we just didn’t pay any attention to it.”

“So….you are here to tell me about the prophecy?” Azraiel asks Daniel. He is grateful for the information but he could have summoned Azraiel for this. Why visit his pack when he has never done that?

“Yes and No.” Daniel picks up his coffee again. Azraiel instantly knows he is giving him a hard time on purpose.

Azraiel and Charlotte sit and stare at Daniel as he orders a second cup of coffee. Azraiel’s eyes are glaring daggers at the father figure he respects so much. This man hasn’t changed a bit.

“Yes, I came here to tell you about the prophecy.” Daniel finally starts speaking, “But that’s not all what I came here for.”

Daniel pulls out a small old cell phone with keypads from the pocket of his blazer.

“Here.” He hands it over to Azraiel.

“I received a text a few days back from the Head but the text was such that I couldn’t help but wonder if I should send it to the red eyed wolves or not. It looks like the name of what you are.” Charlotte sits straighter as Daniel finishes his sentence.

Hesitantly, Azraiel takes the cell phone and reads the message.

Charlotte watches as all blood drains from Azraiel’s face and he stills. She can see he is troubled by what he has read but she needs to find out what it is.

When he doesn’t look up from the screen of the cell phone for minutes, Charlotte softly calls his name.

“Azraiel?”

He abruptly looks up as if he almost forgot that Charlotte and Daniel were in the same room.

“What does it say?” Charlotte asks, scared of what the message may entail.

“It’s just one word!” Azraiel says but his expression makes her believe that just one word is enough to create havoc.

“what’s the word, Azraiel?”

Azraiel gulps hard,

“Therian.”

*******

Ayleen enters Kira’s room to ask if she would like to come downstairs for lunch.

To her surprise, the room is empty.

Worried, Ayleen searches the whole house and calls her name. When she doesn’t get an answer and can’t see her, Ayleen tries to mindlink Kira.

As Ayleen realizes that Kira has blocked her in the mindlink, she starts to panic. Hurriedly, she mindlinks Matt and Theo.

“Kira isn’t at home. She has blocked her mindlink.”

“Wait, let me try.” Theo answers.

A few seconds later, Theo and matt reply.

“She has blocked me too.” Theo says.

“Yeah, me too.” Matt answers.

“Ayleen, relax, she is not in danger. Maybe she just went out for a walk.” Theo tries to assure her but to no avail.

Ayleen quickly locks the house and starts walking towards where she can faintly smell Kira.

“I’m going to check in the woods.” Ayleen informs Theo and matt and starts walking.

With the Head Coordinator here in the pack, everyone is already on edge. She just hopes that Kira is okay and hasn’t done anything she shouldn’t.

Ayleen has crossed almost the whole woods when she smells Kira. Sniffing around and following her scent, Ayleen makes her way to the lake.

When she spots Kira sitting on the ground, Ayleen breathes in relief. She doesn’t smell any blood so she hasn’t hurt herself again.

Good!

“Kira?” Ayleen softly approaches Kira.

“Hmmm?” Kira slightly turns her head towards Ayleen.

“You okay?” She quietly asks, as if afraid that her voice would hurt her.

“Mhmm..” Kira doesn’t look like in a mood to talk and that worries her.

“What are you doing here?” Ayleen pesters again, unwilling to leave her alone here.

“I just came for a walk.” Kira says with a deep sigh.

“Okay. But why did you not tell me?” Ayleen asks softly, her tone not complaining but curious.

“Do I have to report everything to you?” Ayleen is taken aback by Kira’s question. Her tone is harsh, her voice lacks the usual warmth she is used to.

“N-no. Of course not. I just got worried when I didn’t find you in your room.”

Kira chuckles slightly and Ayleen has to physically put in efforts to not flinch at the expression on her face.

“You don’t have to be worried about me anymore. I am fine. Go home.” Kira’s words are hard and emotionless.

In fact, her words make Ayleen worry even more.

Ayleen doesn’t say anything but she doesn’t leave either. There is no way that she could leave like that after seeing the state she is in. Kira’s face doesn’t reveal any emotion. Her jaw is set hard, her eyes look hollow and she is talking like a robot. If that’s not scary then she has no idea what is!

“Kira, what happened?” Ayleen tries again after a few minutes of sitting in silence.

Kira doesn’t reply. She just keeps staring at the still water of the lake without blinking her eyes.

“Go home, Ayleen. I’ll come when I want to.” She says after a few more minutes.

Ayleen isn’t sure about leaving her but this time, Kira’s words sound final.

“Okay!” Ayleen scans Kira’s face. “I am leaving. But just mindlink me if you need anything, okay?”

Lira doesn’t answer but nod once.

Hesitantly and unwillingly, Ayleen stands and starts walking towards Kira’s house.

For some reason, she can’t shake off the feeling that something is extremely wrong. Kira has been fine for the past few days. She has been healing and feeling better. Then why?

Worried that something is going on that might get out of their hands, she mindlinks matt and Theo.

“I think something is wrong. I found her at the lake and I am telling you guys, something is definitely up. She is behaving strangely.”

“I..” Theo starts speaking, “I think something is wrong with Josh. I know he isn’t dead since we haven’t felt the pain but I can’t feel him anymore.”

“Wh-what? Um…what does that mean?” Ayleen asks confused.

“It means th-” Matt is about to answer when Azraiel’s voice booms through the mindlink.

“Don’t leave Kira alone! Ayleen, Matt, Theo! Go to Kira RIGHT NOW!” Ayleen instantly turns around and rushes towards the lake.

“What’s wrong?” matt asks Azraiel through the mindlink.

She can feel her brother’s rage as he breaks the news.

“Josh just rejected Kira!”
