Chapter 83: Chapter 83
"How do you know where Alpha Ross is?!" I asked as I caught up with him and stopped right in front of him, giving him my full attention. I was glad and impressed that he was able to find out where he was, but I was curious.
"His scent, like I said earlier." Alpha Clause, my mate answered me as he started towards a cave that was a few feet away from us to find Alpha Ross, our enemy. I quickly walked closely beside him as we approached the cave.
After reaching it, Alpha Clause placed his hand on the large boulder outside of the cave and pushed it aside so that we could enter. He glanced at me for a moment before entering the cave. I followed behind him as he walked through the dark cave until we reached the back wall where there were two small openings, one on each side. The left-hand opening led into an underground lake while the right-hand tunnel led to an entrance into Alpha Ross's lair.
The smell of food filled my nostrils as we entered the tunnel that would lead us to Alpha Ross's lair. His scent was very strong inside the cave, which meant that he must have been living here for years.
I stepped into the tunnel, feeling slightly claustrophobic as I looked around, noticing that there was barely any room between the walls of the narrow tunnel. As I took another step forward, I heard a low growl from somewhere behind me and turned around to see Alpha Ross staring directly at Alpha Clause and I.
"Don't even think about trying anything funny." Alpha Ross warned us.
"We're not going to try anything," Alpha Clause replied as he stared back at him coldly. "Surrender yourself now!"
Alpha Ross laughed again, but then he stopped after hearing Alpha Clause's words. "Do you really think I am stupid enough to surrender myself? I am a Lycan just like you even though I've gone rogue, but you have no power or control over me whatsoever."
"What if I told you that I can take your powers, Ross? Remember that I am a pure blood Lycan and the most powerful amongst the Five." My Alpha mate retorted as he glared back at him.
Alpha Ross scoffed, looking down at Alpha Clause, "You are nothing compared to me, Clause! You may have inherited immense power and strength from both of your Lycan parents, but you are still weak. If you think you can stop me from taking over all the packs and ruling them then you must be dreaming!"
He moved his hand towards Alpha Clause, who dodged it instantly. "I don't need to fight you, Alpha Clause. Your powers will fade soon enough once I succeed in poisoning you, and you'll lose to me eventually. Once I take over the packs, I will make sure that I kill you along with the rest of those useless scum around here."
"I'll never give up, Ross! The only way you'll ever win against me is by killing me first and that is impossible!" My Alpha mate spoke boldly as he leaned back and gave him a smug look, knowing that he had won this battle already.
"You really think you can stand up to me, Clause?" Alpha Ross scoffed again. "You're nothing more than a weakling as long as you have a Luna mate!"
Before we could react, Alpha Ross grabber my arm and pulled me against him. My back rested on his chest as he twisted my arm behind me and extended his claws then placed them against my throat. Alpha Clause looked panicked as he saw this and clenched his jaw along with his fists in anger, glaring at him.
"Let her go, now!" He growled at Alpha Ross, anger shown on his face as his dark eyes turned amber and his claws extended, showing that his wolf was on the surface, but he didn't turn into his full Lycan form nor his wolf wolf form.
Alpha Ross laughed hysterically like a crazy person and I believed that he was. He pressed his claws harder against the skin on my neck as he growled, "You are not the one giving orders here, I am! So you better let me leave here unharmed and hand over your pack right now or I kill your Luna mate right here in front of you!"
He paused before adding, "And we all know that both you and your wolf won't be able to take it if your mate dies! It will destroy you!"
"You dare threaten me with death!?" Alpha Clause roared as he jumped forward and punched Alpha Ross hard in the stomach. Alpha Ross fell back, letting me go accidentally in the process. He coughed in pain, holding onto his abdomen as he tried to get up as quickly as possible, but Alpha Clause kicked him in the belly and sent him back down on the ground.
"I don't care what happens to you, Ross!" My Alpha mate growled as he stood above him, towering over him as his hands covered his entire face, preventing him from seeing anything. "But once you harm my Luna mate, I'll make sure that you have the worse ending!"
Alpha Clause looked at me for a moment before turning back to Alpha Ross, but he was no where to be found. He has used that opportunity to flee. I ran a hand through my dark hair as I let out a sigh, "Oh, God! How many times does he have to run away?"
"And he still has the Mirror of Wisdom with him! Damn!" Alpha Clause cursed out, looking even more frustrated and angry than I was as he bangs his fists against the stone wall. A large hole formed in the stone as he took his hand out and I felt both amazed and turned on at seeing the display of his power.
"There is something wrong with him." I commented, remembering how he was acting earlier, and how he had appeared to be possessed by some kind of evil spirit.
