Chapter 79: Chapter 79

"Damn!" Alpha Clause cursed out at the same time that Alpha Mason cursed out, "F**k! We tried so hard to get that mirror and now, it's gone just like that!"

"What do you mean? How could he have stolen it and where is it now?" I asked Carter, not paying attention to Alpha Mason's words as Luna Kat nodded at him in reply and rubbed his arm.

"Don't worry about it, just focus on preparing yourselves for war. We can discuss this later." Alpha Clause said as he gave my waist that he was holding a soft squeeze. I felt a bit calm.

"Alright, I'm sorry for worrying you guys."

"That's okay, you didn't have to. But please, do continue to focus on getting ready for war." Alpha Clause commanded us as he stared at me with a determined look on his face.

I nodded before turning back to Alpha Mason. He seemed to be trying to say something but stopped when Alpha Clause came closer. There were some murmurs from the crowd of people around us which surprised me seeing how we had all been silent until now. Everyone was whispering and looking at each other with worried expressions.

It felt like I should probably turn back to them but Alpha Clause was still staring at me. It made me feel hot so I turned towards Carter as I asked, "Do you have any idea where Alpha Ross might be at the moment?"

"No, I don't know what he'll be doing after stealing our mirror, but I think that he'll probably go somewhere instead of his original hideouts that we already discovered."

"Then what are we going to do?"

"Well, even if he goes somewhere else, we'll find him and take it back then execute him on the spot, that way, he won't be able to escape again. So don't worry, my one." Alpha Clause assured me with a smile.

He looked so confident and cool as he spoke and I couldn't help but smile right back at him. I was happy that I wouldn't have to worry about Alpha Ross anymore.

"Thank you so much, honey, but I still have to be a bit worried since he might try attacking us or something now that he's escaped." I replied with a small voice.

There was no need for Alpha Mason to say anything as Alpha Clause simply hugged me tightly once again. The others also did the same, including Carter who smiled happily.

"I'll protect you, my Fay. You only have to worry about focusing on you and I for now, baby." Alpha Clause whispered into my ear before letting go of me.

"I can protect myself, Clause and you damn well know that, honey." I replied to him with my hands on my waist and my brows raised.

Alpha Clause looked amused as his lips tugged up into a smile and he tucked a few loose strands away from my face to behind my ear, "You're right, my strong, fiesty Luna mate."

I couldn't help, but let out a small laugh and he chuckled in his velvety deep voice, sending delightful shivers through my body. As our laugh died down, his alluring dark eyes captured into my brown ones, making my heart race. The whispers around us ceased as Alpha Mason glanced over at the people surrounding us. Our attention was pulled away from each other when Luna Kat glanced at her Alpha mate before looking back at us as she said, "We need to start searching for Alpha Ross ASAP! Where can we start?"

She had a point since there was no use waiting for Alpha Ross to come to us. Besides, we needed to get moving soon if we wanted to catch him and execute him before he plots another plan.

"Let's check around the pack house and see if he's hiding somewhere nearby. If he had just escaped while we were at his Cottage then he must have not gotten far." Alpha Mason answered her with a firm nod.

I nodded in agreement as I stared at Alpha Clause, wondering when we could finally get some peace and spend our time together like a real couple.

"Let's start spread out and start searching!" Alpha Clause ordered as he glanced around at everyone and they all scrambled to action.

"Well, this sucks. The Mirror of Wisdom has been stolen but we haven't found Alpha Ross yet. What do we do now?" I groaned as I leaned against the wall of the old building.

The search party had split up and gone to different places to search for Alpha Ross, but there was no sign of him anywhere.

"Well, we can't just sit here forever, we'll keep searching until we find him." Alpha Clause said as he walked over to me.

I watched him walk by and noticed how he was looking around with a worried look on his face, almost as if he expected Alpha Ross to appear out of nowhere. I had to agree with him but I never expected him to be this worried. Alpha Mason and Luna Kat had left to go back to their pack since they were now at risk of being attacked too.

"So…you really think he'll come after us today? After all, he might be tired from escaping." I asked as I turned to face Alpha Clause, noticing that he had stopped to stand in front of me.

He shook his head and sighed before leaning down to place his forehead against mine. His warm breath brushed against my skin as he ruffled my hair softly before asking, "Why would he attack us today? I mean, even though he stole the mirror, it's not like he could use it to attack us. He can only watch us with it and prepare to attack tomorrow or another after he's well rested and prepared."

He lifted his hand and brushed my cheek gently with his thumb as he continued, "Plus, he must be trying to find a new hideout. I bet he'll stay hidden somewhere safe until he comes up with a new plan to attack us."
