Chapter 60: Chapter 60
I felt a touch on my hand and I looked up to see Alpha Clause smiling at me as he interlaced our fingers together. His gaze captured mine as he murmured, "We're getting out of here soon, don't worry, my Fay."
"I know, honey." I answered him as my lips also stretched into a smile.
He smiled at me again before he tugged my hand and led me ahead of the group while he scanned the area around us with his eyes. He looked very alert as he did that even though we were walking and his brows were furrowed as if he was thinking about something upsetting. I guessed that it must be getting out of this forest or how to defeat Alpha Ross.
The rest of our friends fell into step behind us, even Alpha Mason who was supposed to be the leader of the Five. It seemed that Alpha Clause's pure Lycan bloodline made him a natural leader that everyone just had to follow. That reminded me about what I asked him on my first day at the pack house. Why wasn't he the leader of the Five? I believed that he was the rightful leader and hoped that he transitions into it.
Even though I took Alpha Mason as my Alpha and leader, but everyone knew that Alpha Clause was meant to be the leader as the one from the purest Lycan bloodline. I decided to talk to him about it after we get out of this forest and defeat Alpha Clause as we continued walking while keeping our eyes open for signs of anything suspicious.
After a few minutes, Alpha Clause stopped suddenly and turned to look at us, "Everyone, stay put."
We all froze and waited, listening carefully to whatever he wanted to say, but he only looked at us and said, "Someone is coming."
We all looked at each other and then glanced around us. The sky was turning darker by the second, so I took a deep breath and tried not to panic. I looked at Alpha Clause and saw that he was looking at me. I could feel him trying to communicate with me telepathically through our mate bond, but he gave up when saw that I didn't understand and began talking out loud, "Stay calm, everyone. I think, no, actually I'm sure that someone is following us."
"Where or who rather?" Alpha Mason asked as he looked around the forest along with the rest of us.
"I don't know, but I can smell them." Alpha Clause answered him since his senses were the sharpest amongst us.
"Then let's stop and talk to them." Luna Ashley suggested as she placed her hands on her hips.
"It's probably those Leprechauns, let's just ignore them and get the hell out of here!" I exclaimed, getting more frustrated by the second.
"Yeah, I agree." Luna Kat muttered in agreement.
"Yeah." The rest agreed too, and Alpha Clause nodded as he replied, "Alright then, let's get out of here. If they attack us then we fight them."
The group followed his lead and started walking towards the direction in which we sensed their presence. They kept an eye out for any signs of danger and as we walked deeper into the woods, my stomach began to twist with nervousness at not knowing what was going to happen next, and if we would be attacked yet again.
"They're getting closer." Alpha Clause muttered after several minutes had passed.
I couldn't semse anything though and as we continued to walk, I became increasingly nervous. We would have been able to sense them if there were nearby, but none of us could except my Alpha mate. But why was that? My heart began to race and every part of me felt cold. They must be hiding their scents, but Alpha Clause detected it because of his superior Lycan senses due to his pure Lycan bloodline.
"Alpha, do you sense anyone apart from the person following us?" I asked him, hoping that his heightened senses might be able to pick up something that I couldn't.
"Yes, they are more than one person, and I have this strange feeling. It feels like they're watching our every move, instead of just following us." He answered me as he glanced around at the shrubs and trees around us with the shadows that they cast under the dark night sky.
We kept walking and I fought hard against my anxiety. I wanted to look back at him and tell him that he was wrong, but I knew that wouldn't help. Every time I closed my eyes, I began seeing images of Agard standing behind me with a dagger in his hand. Then I would quickly open my eyes again and try to reassure myself that there was no way that he would stand a chance against me or us. I would definitely kiss his ass like I did before and capture him this time instead of him capturing me like he did before.
After what seemed like forever, Alpha Clause finally stopped and turned around to face us, "Lunas, we need to form a circle and you all need to stay inside it. We can't risk any of you getting hurt, so don't move out of the circle until I give you the signal." He ordered and we did exactly as he told us too.
"Okay." Luna Kasey and Luna Kat answered at the same time while Luna Ashley only nodded her head with that frown still on her brows.
I nodded at him as I stood close to him in the circle that the men made around us, "Alright, honey, but can you tell who they are exactly and why are they following us?"
"I don't know who they are or why they are following us, my one, but I can smell them even more now like they are getting closer to us." Alpha Clause answered and Luna Kasey inhaled sharply out of fear it seemed from the look on her face while I gasped in surprise that they would be so bold to come closer.
