Chapter 45: Chapter 45
Kaden looked a bit surprised while Carter smiled as he took the container from me, "Thank you, Luna."
"Yeah, thanks, Luna Fay." Kaden added as he got over his shock.
"No problem." I replied to them and grabbed the third transparent plastic container filled with snacks out of the four that we brought. I was glad that Kaden was getting comfortable in the pack and genuinely trying to help us. I hoped that he wouldn't betray us, I also hoped the same for his friend back at the pack house.
I stood up and made my way to the Lunas, noticing that Luna Ashley still hasn't returned and it was getting darker. As I sat down beside Luna Kasey, the two stopped talking and faced me with smiles on their faces. I grinned at them as I opened the container, grabbed a hot dog and passed it over, "Here, for dinner."
"Thanks so much, Luna Fay. We didn't even think of bringing any food." Luna Kasey said with a smile on her face as she took the container from me and grabbed a samosa.
"Yeah, thank you, Luna Fay." Luna Kat added as Luna Kasey passed the container to her and she picked a chocolate chip cookie.
"No problem, we're all family." I replied to them as my smile widened.
"Of course." Luna Kasey said as her smile widened.
"Luna Ashley still hasn't come back." Luna Kat commented as she frowned, staring into the trees.
"Yeah, maybe she got lost or just doesn't want to come back yet." Luna Kasey suggested as she chewed on her food.
"I don't think that she can get lost when she has werewolf senses." I said, not caring about her at all.
"Yeah, anyway, why are you suddenly worried about her when you two aren't on good terms?" I added as I looked at Luna Kat, feeling curious and amazed.
"I just thought about it, but you're right, we shouldn't waste our time on her." She answered me as she turned her attention back to her cookie as she finished it.
"Was this how Alpha Wyatt acted when he lost his first mate?" I asked them, feeling curious as I grabbed a chocolate cupcake after finishing my hot dog.
"Not at all, he was very sad, but nothing like this. Alpha Wyatt had it easier since he only knew his mate for a day when she passed away in that rogue attack, so he didn't even get to mark her." Luna Kasey answered me as she looked over at the men.
I looked over at them too to see that Alpha Sloan has finally let go of Luna Hailey's dead body, but he was still kneeling in that same place as Alpha Mason and Alpha Wyatt dug her grave to place her in. Looking back at her, I nodded as I replied, "I can see why he isn't very affected, but Alpha Sloan seems pretty out of it."
"Yeah, I hope he gets over her soon so that he wouldn't become obsessed and be unable to get his life back together." Luna Kat comment with a sigh as she grabbed a hot dog from the container.
"I really hope so too." I muttered, feeling bad about what he was going through.
"Yeah, but it looks like it's going to be very hard for him." Luna Kasey added as she continued staring at Alpha Sloan.
Luna Kat's next words drew both of our attention to her as she said, "Luna Hailey always thought that Alpha Sloan and I have dated before, but that never happened. I really wished that she understood that instead of listening to Luna Ashley's words that always sway her."
We both didn't know what to say, so we kept quiet for a while and I touched her shoulder as I gave her a soft squeeze, "Don't worry, things are already sorted out."
"Yeah, I know." Luna Kat muttered as she gave me a grateful smile.
Later that night, I was resting on one of the sleeping bags, trying to fall asleep while Alpha Clause and the other Alphas were still with Alpha Sloan after burying Luna Hailey. They finally got him to leave that spot that he held onto her and got him to sit by the camp fire before I came to lay down. The other Lunas have also laid down on their sleeping bags since we were all tired after a day full of action like that.
As sleep started washing over me, I felt strong arms wrap around me, making me turn around to see Alpha Clause as he laid beside me. He tightened his arms around my waist as his alluring dark eyes captured my brown ones. His lips tugged up into a smile as he murmured, "Hey."
"Hi, how is Alpha Sloan holding up?" I asked him as my lips stretched into a smile and laid my head on his chest.
"He's doing well, but not very great." He answered me, murmuring into my hair.
"He seems very shaken, I hope that he's able to get over her death soon." I muttered, feeling very bad for Alpha Sloan.
"I hope so as well, but he seems far too gone. It seems that he wouldn't be able to live longer without her." He commented as he ran a hand through my dark hair.
I pulled back from him and looked at him with surprise on my face as I asked, "You think that he will pass away soon because he can't bear Luna Hailey's death?"
"That's how it looks like, I'm just wishing the best for him." He answered me as he looked worried.
"Me too." I murmured back as his alluring dark eyes captured my brown ones.
He stared into my eyes for a while before moving closer to brush his lips against my forehead. His entrancing deep voice came as he added, "Let's get some sleep, my Fay. Everything will be better by tomorrow."
"Yes, it will." I murmured back as I rested my head back on his chest. Sleep started washing over me as our chests rose and fell together. I heard his breathing even out as sleep started washing over him too.
