Chapter 44: Chapter 44
I drew in a breath and let it out as the two came to sit beside me on the fallen tree branch, "Yeah, I understand what you mean."
"I just feel bad for Luna Hailey that she passed away without finding out Luna Ashley's true colors." I added as I looked over at her limp body still in Alpha Sloan's arms. He looked torn and I wasn't sure if he could even go on without her.
"It's how fate wants it to be, so let's hope that it's for the best." Luna Kat replied to me as she wrapped her arms around herself.
"Yeah, let's hope so." Luna Kasey added just as a pigeon cawed as it flew towards us.
It landed on Alpha Clause's shoulder which made him realize that there was a note strapped on its leg. Bailey and Rachel must have tried calling our phones and found out that there was no signal then decided to send a letter through a pigeon. My thought was proven right when Alpha Clause made his way to me to tell me what the letter was about. As he reached me, I noticed a concerned look on his face.
"This is a letter from Rachel, there has been an attack on our pack by Alpha Ross and his rogue pack. They injured some of our pack members, but no one has been killed and they haven't succeeded in taking over the pack."
I gasped as I placed my hand over my chest, "Oh my! That's horrible! Will they be able to withstand another attack when some of them are injured?"
He nodded as he tucked the letter in his jeans pocket, "I believe that they can since all the warriors know what to do, and Rachel is there to guide Bailey and the pack. The ones injured are regular pack members that were in the garden when they were attacked and only a few warriors. Alpha Ross won't be able to get through my warriors to even take over my pack."
I let out a relieved sigh as I nodded, "Yeah, that's true, but we still have to hurry to get back to the pack because I know that he won't rest until he does whatever he can in his power to take over our pack."
Alpha Clause nodded, looking pleased with my concern for our pack, "Yes, I know that, but I would never let that happen, and neither would Rachel, Bailey or our warriors. So don't worry, my Fay, we will get out of this forest soon, get the mirror and get rid of Alpha Ross before he does that to us."
My lips stretched into a large smile as I nodded, "Okay, I will try not to worry, honey. How is Alpha Sloan coping?"
He drew in a deep breath and let it out as he shook his head, "Not well at all. He's not even listening to us as we talk and he doesn't want to let go of her corpse for us to bury her."
I felt sympathetic towards Alpha Sloan as I let out a sigh and looked over at Alpha Sloan, "It must be so heartbreaking and horrible to lose his mate like that. I hope things get better for him and that he's able to get over it soon."
He glanced over at him too as he replied, "He has to if he wants to continue living."
"Since Alpha Wyatt was able to pull through the death of his mate then Alpha Sloan should be able to pull through too." I commented as I moved my gaze to Alpha Clause.
"That's what we are all hoping for, but Alpha Sloan loved Luna Hailey so much, it is going to be much harder for him than Alpha Wyatt that lost his mate before he even got to mark her." He explained to me as he also turned to me, staring at me with an emotion that I couldn't understand in his eyes.
"It's getting darker, why don't we eat the food that we packed with us?" I asked him as I looked over at our traveling bag that was lying beside Carter's foot.
"Sure, I will get the snacks for the guys and I while you eat with the girls. I will come back to you as soon as Alpha Sloan let's go of Luna Hailey and we bury her." He murmured as he cupped my cheek, his alluring dark eyes capturing my brown ones.
I wanted to sigh, but I held it in, knowing that his friend needed him, and staying with the other Lunas would help build our relationship anyway. So I nodded as I gave him a comforting smile, "Okay, good luck with comforting him. I'll see you later, be careful when burying her in this forest."
His lips tugged up into a smile as he continued staring at me with love and appreciation in his eyes, "We will be careful, and you all stay safe over here too."
I nodded at him and he moved his face closer to mine as he brushed his lips against my forehead. As he pulled back, his gaze flickered to my lips and he stared at them with desire flashing in his dark eyes before he dragged his eyes away. He turned around and made his way to our traveling bag beside Carter. As he rummaged through it to grab some snacks for the guys, I looked over at the Lunas to see Luna Kat and Luna Kasey talking in hished tones. It made me curious as to what they were talking about, but I knew that it was none of my business.
When I looked back at Alpha Clause, I saw that he has already grabbed the snacks in a transparent plastic container as he made his way to the Alphas surrounding Alpha Sloan who was still clutching his Luna mate in his arms. I made my way to the traveling bag and pulled out another plastic container that contained snacks then handed it over to Carter as I looked between he and Kaden, "Here, that's for dinner."
