Chapter 255: Chapter 255

The winemaker had set out some glasses of wines of slightly varying shades and gestured to the people he was demoing to. This was his last walkthrough for the day and the part that he had been looking out for the most.

"So, ladies and gentlemen, these wines are in different stages of fermentation. From day one to others that is a few weeks to months old-"

In essence, he was not required to talk through this at all. Most of those there were already very familiar in these processes, but this man was so enthusiastic about his work. He never let any chance go when he had an audience, so he enthusiastically went on.

As a result of this, he never saw the antsy people around him as some had their attention on Ian. It was hard for Ian not to attract attention because of his stature. Ian was always ever so composed that it was rare to see him that flustered or most accurately agitated about something.

As the evening sky had considerably darkened so much it resembled the night, they all saw that spectacular flash of white light.

All they saw, at least those who were paying attention, was that Ian stormed out and then a blinding almost pure light enveloped the whole sky, turning the night into day at least for a few seconds.

However, instead of having full visibility to be able to see out of the door and windows as in the daytime, there was nothing like that. Visibility was zero! Most of them had to close their eyes momentarily.

Brad turned abruptly when the strange light disappeared.

"Where is Ian?" He whispered.

To the people in the place with him, it was not surprising that Ian was not there as there was a slight bend causing a blind spot from them. However, this was not the case from Brad. It was far from it. Brad had a clear sight of the place in front of him, at least for a few steps.

The old Brad would have dismissed this but the new Brad who had been subjected to Shelby-related torture and then the Ingrid’s devilish voice that could make his friends do things that they did not want to do, Brad’s instinct knew better.

Brad turned to look at the rest of the people in the room who were all in different stages of startlement, but Brad could see that none of them were necessarily concerned about Ian. Their concern was on that light.

’Am I reading too many meanings into things? The light occurred for a few seconds and Ian had long legs so ... just maybe....’

Brad rubbed his eyes as his mood started deflating.

’What were you expecting, Brad?’ He asked himself as he saw the rest of them abandon the said demo and tour.

"Is everything okay, Master Brad?"

"Is Chairman Ian, okay?"

The questions started being thrown at him and Brad took a few steps back, confused.

"Should we leave?" Alex asked his wife whose eyes were glued to the door of the event room in the T-Vino winery premises.

"Don’t you think that everyone is behaving strangely?" Geneva asked instead.

Alex asked as he looked around at the few people left behind.

"I don’t know how to explain but my guts tell me that something is not right!"

Alex looked long and hard at his wife. He knew of when she used that statement. He was unsettled because more often than not, things did indeed happen when Geneva said this. Nonetheless, he said,

"What could possibly happen? Don’t worry too much."

Alex patted her hand, not even believing his won words. His life’s experience knew that he should be preparing for whatever was to come.

"Alex, don’t you also think it’s weird and shameful, the way Abram and Abi Mush left?"

"Is there a proper way for them to have left through?" Alex asked back not understanding what was going on.

"Let’s just go and let those people be."

Geneva nodded and then stood up, remembering that none of her children, Shelby or even Ava were around.

"What is keeping them?" She whispered to herself and picked up her purse and as if remembering something she, the wariness disappeared from Geneva’s face.

"You know what? I am going to wait here for a bit."

"Why would you be waiting and who are you waiting for?"

Geneva smiled as if anticipating something. She sat back down on a chair by the walls and pulled her husband to sit beside her,

"You have no idea. I think that Shelby is...." Geneva whispered into Alex’s ears making the man’s smile spread even wider than hers.

Ian found himself pulled through space again. He lost all reason when he heard that voice. The voice that had whispered the sweetest of words to him. The voice was so weak as if on the brink of death. He pictured Shelby sweet smile, her short curly blond hair as well as those startling blue eyes and Ian understood one thing: There was no way he was going to be able to live without her. Never!

He didn’t resist the force that had pulled him and let it drag him wherever.

It only took a fraction of a second, but it felt like ages to him. With his heart in his throat Ian looked at where he had been deposited and only wasted another nanosecond wondering why he was on the other side of his company’s property.

However, this did not last long. Looking at the large door in front of him, Ian knew without a doubt that Shelby, his Elfin was behind that door and that was when everything made sense.

With a double degree in ’Business Administration’ and ’Viticulture & Enology’, Ian understood the winemaking process more so than anyone and therefore he should not have been surprised when the topic of Co2 was discussed earlier.

However, seeing that giant processing warehouse tightly closed, with no window even left open, Ian felt as if his worst fear was coming true.

His instincts and guts knew of the issue with his one and only Elvi, it was only his stubborn head that insisted on rationalizing.

’I will never forgive myself if anything should happen to her.’

On Murray and Currey’s part, they both followed the path of the power surge and arrived at the same place as Ian in mere moments.

Ian did not hesitate, and all these thoughts just found a place in his mind as he rushed at the large doors. These were doors that required special keys to open or, at the very least, three men to push open. In Ian’s anger, he pushed those doors open with his bare hands. In fact, Ian unhinged the doors and strode in immediately.

Outside, Currey made as if to follow but Murray stopped him.

"Don’t follow him if you value your life, brother. I thought you might have learnt this now."

It was not like Currey did not know this. He was just as disturbed and flustered because he also understood the implications of the closed facility all too well.

Currey wished with all of his heart that her Highness was not in there but....

Ian stomped into the darkened place and immediately saw Shelby on the floor. It was her glowing ring that showed him her accurate location. He rushed to her.

"Elfin! Wake up, Shelby!!!!!!!"

He howled like a wounded animal with her in his arms.

Ian shook her gently and then he suddenly turned fiercely to one side of the room. There was nothing there, as far as the normal eyes could see, but Ian’s gaze turned high-profile-deadly so much that, even the two Faes outside took a slight step back.

This was what Murray had referred to when he stopped Currey in his tracks. It was probable that in that state, Ian would mistake anyone who got close a threat to his beloved.

However, for once, Murray was not sure if his mistress was okay. He could still not feel their bond even though he could see her in Ian’s arms from where she was.

He could feel himself start to grow cold and he knew that was a bad sign. A very bad one.

Ian got up with Shelby in his arms. Her hands hang limply, and she was unresponsive.

"Please be okay. Come back to me, my Elfin!"

Ian held her really close. He had not spent more than forty seconds in the place. Ian suppressed the slight dizziness that washed over him as well and disappeared from the place as soon as he stepped out from the place.

Shelby needed help and she needed it fast. Ian was not sure she could make it because he could feel himself weakening with each passing second. His symptoms escalating as his vision blurred. Ian reappeared not far from the warehouse and frowned as did Currey and Murray who understood more of what had happened.

"What the heck? His highness is also getting affected? How? That does not make sense!"

Ian gritted his teeth and screamed in desperation. The outcry was so disheartening, seemingly from the depths of his soul, and it faded with him as he disappeared from there again.

Just to the side and around abend, Ava gasped in shock. She had only wanted to trace the steps of Brianna and Avril as her search had told her, but she had never expected to see this. Whatever that was. Her heart thumped so fast and hard that Ava was not sure she would survive.

’What is going on? Th-ey a-re n-ot human?’ Ava was not sure of what she had stumbled on but one thing was for sure, she could not afford to be seen after seeing something that she was clearly not supposed to see!

She shrunk more into the shadows and but then her worst fears came true barely seconds after that.
