Chapter 8: Chapter 8
"Enough!" Bethel's voice made Precious flinch as soon as she had said her last word, she was cut off by his deep loud voice that sent vibration down her spine.
"Old enough to be my mother but they are not!" He spat out. "And I'd make sure you face the consequences for challenging me!" Bethel threatened, bumping his shoulder with precious intentionally before walking out of the Kitchen.
Precious heart began to race, she had really put herself in trouble by challenging the chairman's son. Where did she get so much confidence from? She thought.
"Good child, that boy is just too mannerless! But you for no Challenge am o!" Maggie spoke, wrapping her arms around Precious.
*****************
"Why would you challenge him Precious?!" Her mother was clearly furious by Precious's action.
Precious stood by the wall as her heart raced hearing what would or could happen to her.
"He was being...rude," Precious tried reasoning with her mother.
"And? Do you know his father could terminate your scholarship and also make us suffer more than we are already?! Didn't you think?" Her mother asked. She wasn't angry with Precious, she was scared for her.
Everyone in the mansion Knew he was arrogant but yet, they all respected him even if he was younger than them.
"I'm so scared for you precious..." Grace was cut off by the knock on the door.
"Yes," she answered.
"The chairman wants to see you and your daughter."
Grace's heart raced, she was going to get fired and Precious was going to lose her scholarship. "It's going to be fine," Grace assured Precious, wrapping her arms around her shoulder as they make their way into the mansion.
Never in Bethel's life had anyone raised their voice at him or had challenged him before. He had everyone doing his biddings and listened when he spoke.
He was going to deal with Precious that she'd regret ever Challenging him. The last lady that raised her voice at him was still in jail.
He sat down opposite his father in his father's office; the one he had at home when the door was knocked.
He smirked knowing it was Precious, he rested his back on the chair as he waited for his father to let them.
Grace opened the door as she led Precious in. Immediately Grace reached the front of the chairman, she went on her knees with her head bowed.
Precious regretted her actions, her actions had put her mother in a state she didn't like. Her eyes got teary as she followed suit, kneeling down beside her mother.
"What are you on your knees?" Bethel's father, known as Bidemi, asked.
Grace was confused for a moment, what did he mean? She thought. "I'm so sorry for my daughter's irrationality, please punish me instead," she begged, still not looking at him.
"What do you mean? I called you here because my son over here, Bethel, asked if your daughter could be his personal maid..." He trailed off before he continued, "I was against it but he insisted and I know it's not right considering she's a child but I'd appreciate it if you agreed." He spoke.
Precious was surprised, she did not expect him to ask for her to be his maid but was it a good thing or bad thing, she thought.
The heavy burden on Grace's shoulder was lifted as she heard that but she wouldn't like her child to suffer like her considering it was hard to please Bethel.
But this was better than to be fired and sent away considering she had no home. She didn't want to agree to it but does she have a choice in this situation.
"I will...do it!" Precious spoke, earning a smirk from Bethel as their eyes came in contact.
"That's it, you may leave!" Bidemi told them as he continued to type whatever he was doing on his laptop.
"Precious, follow me!" Bethel demanded as he walked out of his father's office with Precious behind him.
He led her into the stair that led upstairs. She didn't know where he was taking her to as she knows nowhere in the mansion yet. After climbing the long stairways, Bethel opened the door that led to the top of the mansion.
"Wow!" She muttered as the wind gushed her sending goosebumps on her skin. The mansion had no roof but a deck instead.
There were chairs and tables and even tents too. Bethel turned to look at her with a smirk, it was obvious she had never seen anything like it before.
"You are always looking around like a lost puppy," he snickered, making his way to sit down. Precious was about to sit down when he stopped her; "what are you doing?" He asked her.
"Sit..sitting down of course!" She retorts.
"Your mouth seems to spit out anything and everything without thinking, doesn't it?!" He retorts, pissed off that she was replying to him, an attitude he wasn't used to.
She scoffed. "You lack the etiquettes of a lady," he shook his head.
"And you lack the qualities of a gentleman," she retorts.
Bethel laughed, "Really? How does a gentleman act with his fellow man, which you obviously are!" His words had pinched her heart.
"Are you trying to say I'm not a lady?" She asked.
"Correction! you don't look ladylike, I'm sure you didn't even go through puberty considering your chest offers nothing like mine." He spat out.
How could someone be so rude?! Precious thought, he was insulting her and not even indirectly.
"Finally no comeback from you, I wondered if the cat caught your tongue," he huffed.
"You obviously must be long sighted for you not to see clearly what's in front of you jerk!" She retorts.
How could he say she hadn't gone through puberty yet, she knew she was not bursty like most of her mates neither did she have big butts too but she had a very fine face and looked girly too. She thought.
"Welcome to your worst nightmare pauper because I will make your life a living hell!" Bethel spat with venom, she kept provoking him not knowing she was only adding more problems for herself.
"I won't repeat myself so you better listen carefully to my demands and my schedules!"
