Chapter 14: Chapter 14
For the past three days Precious has been giving Bethel the silent treatment. Whenever he spoke, she didn't reply and that annoyed him.
He was used to her comeback and now she wasn't speaking to him because he made her slip and twist her wrist. That wasn't all, he had made her wash his clothes with her hands and made it ache more.
She was mopping his floor while he sat down on the bed looking at her. She wasn't giving him any attention and for some reasons it hurts. He held onto his phone while looking at her, he was going to hear her speak before she left the room.
He thought if something was cunny and smirked at his thought, there was no way she wouldn't talk, he thought.
Slowly he pushed the glass cup on top of his nightstand and it shattered as soon as it landed on the floor.
Precious startled upon hearing the sound. She turned on her back to see the glass cup broken on the floor, she sighed.
Bethel waited for some seconds which later turned to minutes but he heard nothing from her. She cleaned up his mess without saying anything and that riled him up.
Why was she even angry with him?! He thought. He frowned looking at her but got nothing from her.
"Precious!" He called her name. Whenever he called her name, he felt shivers down his spine and for some reason he loved the sound of her name.
"Hmm!" She hummed.
Her reply made him angry, "I expect you to say yes when I call," he remarked.
"Yes," she answered which shocked him, if he had done that some weeks ago, she'd have fought him and called him names. He wasn't used to this Precious.
Precious was really angry with him because he hadn't apologized to her for her wrist and making her suffer on top of it. She was extremely angry with him and for some reason it hurt her.
He stayed quiet for some minutes before speaking, "Are you..." He sighed, he didn't know how to go about it and for some reason he was becoming soft which he didn't like.
"Are you angry with me?!" He asked, clearly unsure.
"Should I be? Or should I not?" She retorted, it was obvious she wasn't in the mood to talk to him.
"Is something...bothering you?" He asked, he wasn't comfortable asking questions like that.
She said nothing. She carried the bucket out in her hand. "Goodnight!" She spat out before walking out of the room.
Bethel sighed. He hated her new attitude more than her previous one.
It was hard for Bethel to sleep and he didn't know why but he blamed it all on Precious, he was going to take his revenge on her.
Precious knocked on Bethel's door and after some seconds was told to come in. As soon as she entered the room, she saw a frowning Bethel who was already dressed in his Wednesday wear and not only that, his bed was dressed too and the room was neat.
She rubbed her eyes to make sure she was seeing correctly and indeed she was. "Did...did anyone come into this room?" She asked him while looking around.
He said nothing. "Why haven't you been going to school, exams start next week...you know?" He asked her to brush his hair.
"I don't think that's your business, I guess," she retorted. "So tell me, who cleaned up your room?" She asked.
Bethel was frustrated, he didn't know why he cared about someone he loathed and her attitude was pissing him off. "You know what? You say I am mannerless when you also need to work on your attitude!" He spat out.
Precious was shocked by his outburst, what was his problem and why was he so mad? She thought.
She ignored him. "Did I tell you I need your help? Just mind your business!"
"You are really stupid and you lack correct reasoning...I don't even know why I care about...not like I care but..." He huffed, clearly pissed off.
"Wow...the almighty Bethel cares...tell me something I do not know about!" She spoke sarcastically.
"Leave!" He spat out.
"What?!" She spoke clearly shocked.
"Leave my room right now and I don't wanna see your face until I request for you to come!" He spat out. Precious was hurt, he was rude and she hated when he was like this. She didn't know what he was doing to her and his mood swing was riling her up.
"That's your problem jerk!" She shouted at him.
"Too bad I have no interest in someone as poor as you and you should be grateful I let you walk on the ground I walk on," he retorted.
"And too bad that I am not as selfish and stupid like you because your mood swing is the worse!" She shouted. She was hurt, he was hurt, they were hurt and they knew not the reason for it.
"Fuck out of my room or else you will hate the me you are about to see now," he warned.
"Ha ha ha!" She laughed sarcastically. "As if I don't hate all of you!" She huffed, "And I'm not leaving your room, do your worst!" She spat out.
Bethel moved dangerously towards her as she retreated back slowly. "You want me to do my worst?" He asked.
"Maybe imma rape you and kill you all at once!" He spat out through gritted teeth.
"I always knew you were stupid but not as stupid as now! Rape me?, You wouldn't even do so...think of some..." She was cut off when Bethel placed his hand on her throat pushing her towards the wall.
"You've tasted my patience!" He said choking her as she fought back for some space. She couldn't breath.
"Be..." She struggled to speak but he was too angry to listen.
"Bet..." She coughed. It was then he realised what he did and let go of her but it was too late....she ran out of the room in tears.
