Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Precious got down from the table Bethel placed her on, she didn't feel comfortable. Just this morning he had almost seen her naked and now she was half naked in front of him.

She wished she had worn her sportswear instead of her school uniform to school since it was Friday, now she'd have to get a new uniform.

Royal stone high uniform was one of the most costly uniforms. The jacket alone was over thirty thousand naira.

The skirt and shirt was another thirty thousand naira, it's tie and socks was over ten thousand naira; a total of seventy thousand naira.

She sighed, getting a new shirt meant getting a new skirt and where would she get thirty thousand naira for a new uniform. She cried.

Bethel noticed the tears in her eyes and wiped them off. He didn't know why he felt bad but he was touched. "It's fine!" He spoke, the words were sorta heavy in his mouth.

Bethel opened his bag, he pulled out his sportswear shirt and gave it to her to wear. She was shocked, she wasn't expecting to see a good side of him.

Suddenly Bethel laughed, confusing Precious. "What is it?" She asked.

"It's been long I saw the quiet Precious unlike the one that challenges me as if she has fire on top of her head," he snickered making Precious frown.

"You are a douchebag!" She spat out throwing his sport wear shirt back at him.

"Wow! You don't seize to amaze me?!" He scoffed. "This your feisty attitude should be used against your bullies and not me, don't you think?" He asked with questioning brows.

Precious heart sank, it was true. She always had courage when facing Bethel but not against the others. She was scared of them because she had witnessed their brutality on the poor but unlike them, Bethel hadn't been involved in a scandal where the poor were belittled. Although he was mean to her, he still saved her.

"You are right.." she trailed off. "You know most times I wish, I had the same energy I used in fighting you with them but..." She hiccupped. "But...I'm scared, I'm scared of..." She hiccuped wiping her tears with the back of her palm.

"I wish I could but I consider a lot before reacting, they are all from influential families while I don't even know anyone besides my mom, I don't even know who my father is!" She spat out crying out loud.

Bethel looked at her with sympathy, he felt for her and he realised that everyone had a missing piece in them. He leaned into the wall looking at her as she cried and spoke.

"I wanna just gra-duate in peace!"

"I wanna leave this school in peace, getting expelled is the last thing I want and it's making me scared that I am the..." Suddenly the door opened revealing Jeremiah and Daniel.

"Precious!" Jeremiah called her name with so much concern, he had heard what happened and he began to feel guilty. He has put her in the mess she was in and he regretted being irrational.

Precious looked at Jeremiah with so much anger towards him, he was the reason behind her pain. "Precious are you alright?!" He asked with a gentle voice, walking slowly towards her.

"I'm..I'm.." Precious cuts him off. "Just stop already! You are the cause of my pain, I have just a year and some months left but you..." She pointed at him. "You ruined it all and as much as I don't wanna blame you, I can't deny the fact."

Jeremiah's heart pricked as he heard her word, he hated himself. He and Amanda were now on good terms and it'd hurt him if she found out what happened to Precious.

"I'm so sorry!" He whispered.

"Sorry won't fix the mess I am in!" She raised her voice.

"Sorry won't fix it, we know but can you stop raising your voice at him?" Daniel spat out. He wouldn't let anyone make his friend feel more than he already was.

Precious shot daggers towards Daniel but he didn't seem to care. "Stop it already," Bethel voiced out.

"Precious, stop this already, you got saved, so no need for this, I have to go to class, come on guys!" Bethels spoke, taking his bag in his hand and walking off with Daniel dragging Jeremiah with him.

It didn't take until another minute before Precious pulled herself together. She picked Bethel's sportswear shirt from the floor and wore it, making her way to her class.

It was lunch and Precious didn't have enough courage to go eat, she was scared and had nowhere to turn to. She wished she didn't have a life like this.

*************

Precious screamed when she saw the floor she had mopped had been wet again. She turned to see a smirking Bethel.

"What are you doing?" She asked through gritted teeth. "I am just teaching you your manners," he spat out.

Just earlier, She had insulted him and called him a fool and a spoiled brat because he told the staff to remake the food.

Precious had butt in and called him all sorts of names in front of the staff. As much as he hated what she did, he couldn't bring himself to send her out of the mansion and fire her mother and he didn't know why but he decided to punish her with the way he could.

"Mannerless are usual!" She muttered.

That had riled Bethel up that he turned the tap on and let the water fall on the already wet floor. Precious rushed to turn it off and as soon as she did so, he fell the towels on the wet floor. She rushed to pick them up but he wasn't done; he threw all liquid soup and wash on the floor, creating a mess in the bathroom.

Precious kept running around to get the room cleaned but unfortunately for her she slipped, fell on her arm, and twisted her wrist, she winced in pain.

Her cries had gotten Bethel attention as he turned to see her on the floor with a pained expression. "Precious!" He called.
