Chapter 15: Chapter 15

"Precious!" Bethel called her name running after her down the hallway. Thank God an entire floor was just for him alone and hardly had people lurking around.

Thank God for his long legs, he caught her pulling her towards him just as she was about to reach the stairs. "Precious..." He called her name. "I'm so sorry!" He spat out holding unto her hands as she tried to free them from his.

"Let go of me jerk!" She shouted.

"Yes I am a jerk, I'm so sorry. I...I..." He trailed off realising he had just said the sorry word; one he hadn't told anyone who wasn't a family. What was this girl doing to him? He thought.

He wrapped his arms around her and she let him, crying unto his chest, what was he doing to her? She asked. Her heart beating erratically and she loved their close proximity.

He pulled her face back a bit and wiped her tears with his thumb. "I'm so sorry," he whispered looking into her eyes.

"Will you forgive me?" He asked.

Suddenly Precious chuckled, "Did you just say sorry?" She asked, pushing him off her a bit but not with force.

He chuckled, "I did," he smirked. "Jerk!" She muttered. "Your jerk!" He retorted and they both laughed.

"Why did you do that in there?" She asked.

"What did you give me the silent treatment for the past three days?" He retorted.

Precious scoffed, "You are always using my words against me, aren't you?"

She giggled and he swore, he could listen to that all year and not get tired. He really needed to figure out what she was doing to him. He was not one to consider the feeling of anyone or to apologise to just anyone.

"Aren't you going to school?" He asked her.

"No," she spoke.

"Why?" He asked.

"Because..." Bethel cuts her off.

"Does it have to do with what happened last Friday?" He asked her.

She shook her head, "No! I didn't go to school for the past two days because..." She trailed off sucking on her bottom lips. Bethel's eyes trailed her lips as she sucked on it and for some reason he wanted to taste them.

He shrugged off the thought as he looked back into her eyes. "Because?" He asked.

"Because...because I don't have money for a new school uniform." She spoke.

"Was that the reason?" He asked. "You mean you have only one school uniform? And you get paid for working for me, what do you do with the money?" He asked.

"What do you mean? Are you trying to insult me?" She asked, clearly annoyed.

Bethel face palmed himself, "You are getting me wrong?" He explained.

"You know what? I am not as rich as you to be able to afford the school uniform, I don't have thirty thousand naira to waste like that and even if I did, it would be for my future!" She spat out, pushing him off and running down the stairs.

"Girls!" He muttered.

The door to Bethel's room opened, Precious turned to look at the door and Bethel walked in. Ever since she has not been going to school, she hid in his room to avoid questions from her mother.

She looked at his hand with which he was holding a bag, she stared at him before hissed. She was still angry with him.

"I see you don't know who to greet!" He spoke, getting her attention.

She didn't say anything. Bethel shook his head. "Here!" He spoke, stretching the bag in his hands.

"What's that?" She asked.

"See for yourself," he shrugged before pulling his shirt off me.

Precious gasped when she saw a new school uniform. "Omg! Bethel!" She called his name, surprised by his action.

He got her a new school uniform and not just the skirt and shirt but the complete uniform. "Why did...why did?" He asked.

"Don't get all girly on me, it makes me sick," he spat out not wanting to hear a word for her because he didn't do it because of sympathy but for a reason he had realised all thanks to Jeremiah.

He had denied the fact he liked her so many times when it came across his mind until Jeremiah made him realise.

As soon as Bethel came out of the bathroom, Precious rushed to hug him, catching him off guard. His heart beating erratically from her touch as usual.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"Thank you so much! I don't know why you are nice to me but I'm really grateful although you are still a jerk!" She spoke, making Bethel chuckle.

"I'm a jerk right? You are ungrateful!" He spat out feigning hurt.

"I didn't mean that! I'm seriously grateful." She spoke.

"Really? If you are that grateful, go out with me this weekend," he said, getting her attention.

"Go out with you? To do what?" He asked.

"Still ungrateful as usual!" He scoffed walking past her but she pulled him back his arm.

"Okay!" That was the least she could do for what he did for her.

The rest of the week went by peacefully for Precious as Bethel hadn't requested for her irrationally and she barely saw him too as he told her not to come clean his room anymore. As much as she'd love to deny it, she missed him so much and their little bickers.

She decided to pay him a visit. As soon as she reached his door, her heart began to race, for some reason she was excited to see him.

She knocked on the door and it was opened In less than five seconds but instead of Bethel's face, she met Daniel's face.

He let her in and she regretted coming now considering he wanted to be alone. Even if he was alone, what would she say brought her here, she thought.

Jeremiah cleared his throat before looking at Bethel with some sign language. "Precious," Jeremiah greeted. Precious palm became sweaty as she dried her hands with her skirt.

"What brings you here?" Bethel asked with a tone that hurt her; it was as if her presence irritated him.

She took in a deep breath, "I just wanted...just...wanted to know if you wanted anything," she spoke looking at everywhere but him.

"No! You may leave!"

Ouch! Precious said within her as she walked out of the room embarrassed.
