Chapter 65: Chapter 65
"Take it easy, don’t get too serious. She’s just planning to have some fun with you."
"You’re usually smart, but when it comes to women, your IQ drops drastically." Lucy Eaton advised her, "Don’t get fooled by women again."
James Foster was clearly in a great mood, reached out and pinched her cheeks, "Got it, little fairy."
"No, I still need to give her a little heads-up first." She said as she entered the room, with James following her in.
She turned off the music, smiling at Chloe White, "There’s something I want to say to you."
"I’ve known James for many years. We grew up in the same village, so I know him very well. Although you just met him tonight, he said he’s very serious."
"I’m serious too." Chloe widened her eyes, "Do I look like a casual girl? I agreed to date him because I have a good impression of him and want a boyfriend."
"Not saying you seem casual, just hoping you’ll cherish each other as much as James does."
"Do you really need to tell me that?" Chloe smirked, "Of course I’ll do that."
"That’s good then." Lucy Eaton checked the time, and said to the others, "I have to go back, have to get up early for rounds tomorrow."
"I’ll go with you." Mia Townsend also stood up.
"I’m going to the hospital to be with my wife." Robert Langley didn’t stay either.
Everyone left the scene immediately.
Leaving the Number Nine Residence, Lucy Eaton and Mia Townsend got into a car together.
Robert Langley took the bus because he was heading in a different direction. The rightful source is n͟o͟v͟e͟l͟f͟i͟r͟e͟.net
Chloe White went with James to the third floor apartment of Joy for You.
"You said this big store was owned by that curly-haired woman just now?"
"Her name is Lucy, not some curly-haired woman." James was a bit dissatisfied, "Don’t call her that."
"Then you’re both from the countryside, where did she get so much money? The land here is almost worth a fortune."
"Her husband is rich."
"Who is her husband? What does he do?"
"Why are you asking so much?" James retorted, "You’ll find out about her when you need to."
"Weren’t you two childhood friends? You seem to have a good relationship with her. I’m your girlfriend, I should know about her."
"No need for now." James straightforwardly said, "We just met today. You don’t need to rush to know everything about me, just like I don’t know much about you either. There’ll be plenty of time to understand each other later."
Chloe White hugged him, "That’s true, but where should you start to get to know me? My body, perhaps?"
James’s breathing tightened, just when he was about to make a move, the phone rang.
Usually, there are only so many people who call him, either family or friends.
So he got up and pulled out his phone to answer it.
But unexpectedly, it was an unfamiliar number without a contact name.
He pressed answer, and before he could speak, a weak crying voice came from the other end.
The voice was somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t immediately remember who it was, "Who is this?"
"James, it’s Mary Pond."
Hearing this name, James’s anger immediately flared up, "Mary Pond? You still dare to call me?!!"
"James, I know I shouldn’t have deceived you, but I had no choice. I can explain when I see you. I’ve washed your clothes, and I’ll pay you back the money. Can you come save me now? I’m at an abandoned factory near East Bridge on the outskirts. I can barely survive..."
"If you can’t survive, just die." James sneered, "Don’t bother me!"
After saying this, he hung up the phone.
"Who was that? It got you so angry." Chloe White inquired.
"Someone I met online who once tricked me."
James didn’t deny it. Just as he was about to say something, Chloe White’s phone rang as well.
She glanced at the incoming call and said, "My mom is calling."
After talking to her mother, she said, "My mom went to my school, I have to go."
Without waiting for James to reply, she hurriedly left.
James was in a terrible mood.
Thinking about what that online scammer said, he went out with the keys.
He took a taxi to East Bridge on the outskirts, where there was indeed an abandoned factory next to it.
James asked the driver to wait for a moment, and went in with a flashlight.
It was pitch black inside, but he was brave, and went into the dilapidated building, shouting Mary Pond’s name.
James wondered if that woman was tricking him again?
He walked inside and circled around, finally spotting Mary Pond between two large iron barrels.
She was covered in blood, especially her head was seriously injured, her face was bloody, and it was hard to recognize her without a close look.
Her hair was disheveled as she leaned against the barrel, completely motionless.
James went over and checked her breath, finding she had merely fainted, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He quickly carried her out horizontally and got her to the hospital.
On the way, he informed Lucy Eaton about the situation.
After hearing about it, Lucy Eaton didn’t say anything and rushed to the hospital.
By the time she arrived, Mary Pond had been sent to emergency care.
Sarah Reed, who was on duty in the neurology department, was not at her post, it was unknown where she went.
Lucy Eaton didn’t even have time to change her clothes, she went straight into the operating room to assist other doctors in the rescue.
At this moment, Mary Pond in her eyes was not a scammer, but a critically ill woman. She had no prejudice and did her best to save her.
After nearly two hours of rescue, they pulled Mary Pond back from the brink of death.
The nurse cleaned up her face, and Lucy Eaton finally saw what she looked like.
Indeed petite and pretty.
Coming out of the operating room, James had already arranged her hospital stay and paid the fees.
"I must have a grudge against this woman, otherwise why would she trick me out of money and make me pay for her medical expenses in this way."
"Why would anyone else care about her life or death?" Lucy Eaton patted his shoulder, "Young man, I admire you."
"Well, I was born kind-hearted." He grinned, "Calling you out here again late at night, your husband is probably going to hate me."
"He hadn’t come home when I left. By the way, is Chloe White still in the store?"
"No, she went back early."
"I thought you two were about to have a passionate night together."
James blushed, "That was the plan, but that Mary Pond ruined my sweet dreams."
"Alright, you stay at the hospital with her tonight, can’t leave her alone." With that, she returned to the office, where Sarah Reed was still sitting at the desk, writing something unknown.
