Chapter 64: Chapter 64

"What a pity." Mrs. Sharp spoke frankly, "If only you could be my daughter-in-law."

Charles Sharp chimed in, "Mom, Lucy must feel embarrassed."

"So why haven’t you brought home a girlfriend like her for me?"

He stared straight ahead, feeling unsettled. When did she get married?!

Upon arriving at the Sharp Clan’s residence, Mrs. Sharp arranged the kitchen and then returned to her room to change clothes.

Charles Sharp and Lucy Eaton were sitting in the living room.

"When did you... get married? Why haven’t I heard about it?"

"Picked up the marriage certificate on March 6th, but haven’t held the wedding yet."

"What kind of man is he?"

Lucy Eaton held her teacup and said, "A very outstanding man."

"I want to meet him," he said.

"To assess if he’s reliable or not."

"If he’s unreliable, I’ll dump him."

Charles Sharp chuckled, "That’s an option."

After dinner, it was almost seven-thirty. Charles Sharp offered to drive her home, but she firmly refused.

Instead, she took the car back by herself.

Upon reaching home, Nathaniel Green whispered to her, "Young Master is angry; he hasn’t eaten dinner."

"Who’s he angry with?" she asked, already knowing the answer.

"Of course, with you, Young Madam."

Lucy Eaton didn’t say more and headed towards the door.

While changing her shoes, she deliberately glanced at Jacob Green sitting on the sofa, "I heard from Nathaniel you were so angry you didn’t eat?"

Lucy Eaton walked towards him and sat down beside him, "Feeling that angry?"

Jacob Green looked at her, "Having dinner with another man is more important than being with your own husband?"

"Of course, the husband is more important, but I had promised. You wouldn’t want me to be someone who doesn’t keep her word, right? Besides..." She leaned closer to him, "Charles Sharp knows that I’m already married, so your worries are unnecessary."

"Does he know I’m your husband?"

"That, he doesn’t know. I didn’t say."

Jacob Green was displeased again, "Why didn’t you say?"

"Because I feel our relationship isn’t at the point where I need to tell him."

This remark inexplicably pleased Jacob Green.

He suddenly beamed, no longer angry, "Have dinner with me."

"I’m just a little hungry myself."

"Why? Couldn’t eat enough at the Sharp’s?"

"I was a bit reserved, didn’t dare eat too much." Lucy Eaton laughed, "It’s never as comfortable at someone else’s house as it is at your own, right?"

At the dinner table, Jacob Green inquired, "How was your first day at work at the hospital today?"

"Did anyone give you a hard time?"

Lucy Eaton knew that if she spoke the truth, someone might immediately lose their job.

"Am I, Lucy Eaton, someone easy to bully?" With a playful smile, she said, "Even if someone dislikes me, they can only stare without being able to do anything to me, after all, I’m Jacob Green’s wife, aren’t I?"

This comment reached Jacob’s heart, making him feel like an impressive man in his wife’s eyes.

Surely, no husband would mind.

"Are you feeling the benefits of being my wife now?"

"The benefits of being your wife solely depend on whether you like me or not, which is one of the main reasons I married you." Lucy Eaton spoke truthfully, "If you didn’t like me, being your wife would be a huge disaster and tragedy, a depletion of my life, so if that were not the case, we wouldn’t have become husband and wife."

She left out two words ’once again.’

Indeed, if it wasn’t confirmed that he cared for her, they wouldn’t have become husband and wife again.

Everything hinges on him alone.

When facing him, with ten steps between them, she remained unmoving while he approached her on his own.

"What did I get wrong?"

"You said I liked you."

"Don’t you like me?" Lucy Eaton examined him, "Was I mistaken all along?"

"I not only like you." Jacob Green’s eyes were deep like an oasis, as he looked directly at her and uttered four words, "I also love you."

His unexpected confession left Lucy Eaton a bit flustered, her face slightly flushed, before she composed herself and said, "The food will get cold, let’s eat."

But it must be said, Jacob Green’s words had a significant impact on her.

The feeling lingered as she went upstairs to wash up, replaying those words over and over in her mind.

The feeling was particularly pleasant.

It was as if she had gained the best thing in the whole world.

Perhaps once yearning but never obtaining, and now having it, there was no longer regret.

After taking a bath, she saw a message from James Foster.

[Come out and have fun.]

She replied, [I’ve taken a bath and am lying in bed; I’m exhausted from the day and don’t want to go out.]

[You must come; we’re all here but you.]

[Miss you, why notify me only now?]

James Foster sent a smiley face, [Was chatting with your husband earlier; he said you weren’t home, how could I notify you? Hurry over.]

[Number Nine Residence.]

Jacob Green went to the company because of an unexpected situation with the overseas subsidiary.

So she agreed to go to meet James Foster.

Lucy Eaton casually put on sportswear in the dressing room, and without bothering with makeup in the dark, tied her hair loosely at the back of her head and left the house.

Nathaniel Green drove her there.

Upon reaching the private room, she couldn’t see any trace of James Foster.

Mia Townsend replied, "He said he saw a very stunning pretty girl and went to showcase his masculine charm; not sure if he got beaten up yet."

Lucy Eaton sat down, opened a can of beer with her hand, and drank as she spoke, "How’s the business today?"

"Business is great," Mia Townsend asked, "And how about you at the hospital?"

"Not bad, not as good as imagined but not as bad either, manageable."

Robert Langley asked from the side, "How did Jacob let you go out at night?"

"He went to the company."

Just as she finished speaking, the door to the private room was pushed open, and James Foster walked in, holding a stunning girl, leaving Mia Townsend dumbfounded.

"Let me introduce you all; this is my girlfriend, Chloe White."

The three of them looked at him as if frozen.

"What’s with the reactions? Clap, guys!" Fresh chapters posted on NoveI(F)ire.net

Lucy Eaton was the first to react, clapping her hands, "Good! The girlfriend is beautiful!"

Mia Townsend and Robert Langley also snapped back and joined in the applause.

James Foster then introduced the three of them to the girl he’d been holding.

Through the conversation, they learned Chloe White was 20 years old and still a university student.

She was out with classmates tonight to have fun.

James Foster took the initiative to chat her up.

Nevertheless, things progressed quickly.

Seizing the chance, Lucy Eaton pulled James Foster aside to privately ask him, "Are you serious, or just looking for fun?"

"Of course, I’m serious." James Foster laughed, "She seems pretty straightforward; she’s the type I like."
