Chapter 152: Chapter 152

"You!" Sophie Bennett was furious, "You’re the one hiding another woman in your heart, and I’m the one at fault? Charles Sharp, for heaven’s sake, get it straight. I’m your wife, and I’m telling you, us at the Presidential Mansion aren’t allowed to divorce. You’ll be my husband for life!"

Charles Sharp glanced at her coldly, "Is that so?"

"Have you ever heard this saying?"

"Man can make it happen. You say I’ll be your husband for life; well, it depends on whether I want to. If one day I can’t stand you anymore, I can either accept this marriage alliance or reject it. Don’t you understand the current situation in our Presidential Mansion? How could it be possible to have alliances with two major financial forces simultaneously without turmoil? Use your dog brain and think carefully."

"Dare you call me a dog brain, Charles Sharp? I’m going to fight you!" With that, Sophie Bennett lunged at him aggressively, but Charles Sharp dodged, causing her to miss.

"Psycho." Charles Sharp turned and strode away.

Sophie Bennett stomped her foot and shouted, "I’m telling you, my patience is limited, too!"

Charles Sharp didn’t respond to her anymore.

As far as he was concerned, aside from Lucy Eaton, it didn’t matter whom he married.

Originally, he didn’t intend to treat her this way; he wanted to be a peaceful couple with her.

But her behavior was so utterly exposed from the start, causing him to feel disgusted.

He really couldn’t get along well with her.

He felt he should have refused this marriage alliance at the beginning.

As things stood, whether he liked it or not, he could only continue until he reached the point of intolerance.

Lucy Eaton went out to buy groceries and felt someone was tailing her.

But when she looked back, she saw no suspicious person.

Not knowing if it was just her imagination, she quickened her pace.

Upon returning home, she immediately shut the door, quietly climbed a ladder to observe over the wall for a while, and only relaxed when she saw no one following.

Entering, she found Emma Bennett asleep. She put down the grocery bag and covered him with a blanket. Fresh chapters posted on 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹✦𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖✦𝓷𝓮𝓽

Then she started cooking.

When halfway through cooking, thunder rumbled outside. The rains were back just a few days after clearing.

Summer is certainly the rainy season.

That wasn’t surprising.

She went out to bring in the clothes drying in the yard and continued cooking.

By the time the food was ready, the sky had grown near pitch-black outside.

Lucy Eaton woke Emma Bennett, and the two began eating.

The sound of heavy rain poured from outside, quickly soaking the entire ground.

After dinner, while washing dishes, Lucy Eaton heard someone knocking on the door outside; she quickly finished washing and wiped her hands as she walked to the door, "Who’s there?"

"It’s me, little wife."

Lucy Eaton heard the landlord’s voice and immediately felt at ease, grabbing an umbrella to open the door.

The landlord handed her a black plastic bag, "Little wife, this is the medicine you asked me to buy for your husband."

The nearby pharmacy didn’t have the medicine Emma Bennett needed, so she had the landlord buy it elsewhere. Seeing it, Lucy Eaton took it and smiled, "Thank you, landlord."

"No need to thank me; you gave me so much extra money. You two have it hard; a devoted wife like you isn’t often seen. Your husband is truly blessed, and very handsome too."

Lucy Eaton smiled a little, "It’s getting late, and it’s raining heavily; landlord, you should go home and rest early."

"You too, I’m heading out now."

Seeing the landlord turn to leave, Lucy Eaton went back inside the courtyard and was about to close the door when a force blocked it.

She looked up, thinking she saw a mirage.

Jacob Green stood before her.

"Hubby?! How did you find this place?!" She exclaimed with joy and jumped into the cover of his umbrella, wrapping her arm around his waist.

"Without finding this place, how could I hear you telling outsiders that Emma Bennett is your husband?"

Noticing his displeasure, Lucy Eaton immediately soothed him, "That’s just for outsiders to hear. I told the landlord that the Second Highness and I ran away and privately married because my family disapproved of me marrying a disabled person. Saying so hides our situation well; after all, with a man and a woman living together, saying otherwise might cause suspicion."

"Just this once, no more in the future. No matter the situation, I don’t want anyone else pretending to be me."

Lucy Eaton nodded in agreement, "Alright, I won’t say it again. Tell me quickly, how did you find this place?"

"Didn’t the police investigate here before? I locked the search range nearby and kept looking without rest."

"When did you find it?"

"Saw you when you were grocery shopping."

"No wonder I felt someone following me; why didn’t you call me when you found me?"

He explained, "I thought it’d be better after dark; anyhow, knowing where you live, you wouldn’t leave anytime soon."

"Where did you stay at night?"

His hand caressed the back of her head, lowered to plant a kiss on her lips, "The car’s at the alley entrance, so it’s convenient for you to stay with me. I really missed you these past few days."

Lucy Eaton’s heart raced, and she whispered, "Then go wait in the car; I’ll make arrangements for the Second Highness and be over soon."

Jacob Green’s hand slid down her neck, resting in an intimate spot and gently patting it, "Hurry. I’m returning home early tomorrow morning."

Hearing this, Lucy Eaton hurried back inside the courtyard.

Even when she entered the house, she still felt extremely excited.

"Why did it take so long outside?"

"I asked the landlord to buy medicine and chatted a bit." She sat beside him, took out the medicines from the bag, checked each one to ensure it was the right name she wanted, and individually handed them to Emma Bennett, pouring him a glass of plain water, "Take the medicine."

Watching him take it, she said, "I need to handle something outside tonight, so get some rest early."

"Where are you going?"

"It’s not dangerous; just checking the terrain while it’s night."

"I will." She took his cup and placed it on the table, "Sleep now; I’ll turn off the light."

After securing the door, Lucy Eaton stepped out with her umbrella into the rain.

At the entrance of the alleyway, her eyes fell on a nearby black luxury car.

The rain fell relentlessly, forming bubbles on the ground, and under the streetlight, her shadow lengthened dramatically.

As she approached the car, Lucy Eaton’s footsteps grew lighter.

When she arrived beside the car, the door opened.

She folded the umbrella and placed it outside the car door, then climbed into the rear seat.

Jacob Green took out a clean towel and wiped off the small amount of rainwater from her face.

"When do you plan to return home?"

"Once the Second Highness’s injuries stabilize."
