Chapter 137: Chapter 137
Jacob Green looked at her seriously, "Live according to your own wishes. Whatever kind of person you want, strive for it. Don’t make yourself unhappy. When it comes to marriage, I support your decision. As long as you think it’s right, it is right."
His words gave Lily Green a surge of strength, making her feel that life should be lived just .
"Why are you my younger brother, yet I feel like you’re my older brother?"
"I think it’s great that you feel that way... Go on, call me brother."
Lily Green frowned, "You’re really cheeky."
Jacob Green gave her a grin, "From what you just said, I discovered a fact."
"That crush of yours hasn’t been pursued successfully."
Jacob Green decided not to expose her further. Instead, he said, "If you really like someone, don’t give up easily. After all, it’s not easy to find someone you like."
Lily Green looked at him, wanting to speak but hesitated, eventually saying nothing.
"Haven’t seen Dr. Eaton in the hospital lately. What’s Dr. Eaton been busy with?" Another neurosurgeon asked Lucy Eaton as she walked down the hallway to start work.
"Haven’t been feeling well, so I’ve been on leave."
As soon as she finished speaking, laughter rang out from behind, sounding so cynically strange that it made people want to hit someone.
"Haha, our Dr. Eaton is so carefree. If she wants to come to work, she comes; if not, she doesn’t. No one to manage her, unlike us poor souls who can’t be late or leave early. Dr. Eaton, I really envy you."
"Envy all you want, because there’s nothing you can do about it. You can’t be like me," she replied casually, making Sarah Reed grit her teeth.
Lucy Eaton walked past her, and Sarah Reed stared fiercely as she entered the room. Another doctor whispered, "You have a sharp tongue and know her support is strong. Why provoke her openly? People like that are not worth the offense."
"I just can’t swallow this. I originally shared an office with Dr. Paxton, but had to move out when she arrived."
"Wasn’t it because the two of you had conflicts?"
"Indeed, but why didn’t she move? There’s a first-come-first-serve rule for everything."
The colleague comforted her, "It’s been so long, don’t dwell on it. Working in any office is the same, isn’t it?"
Sarah Reed wanted to say more, but seeing the colleague leave, she lifted her foot to follow.
Lucy Eaton entered and saw Michael Paxton eating breakfast, "You’re only eating now?"
"Mmm, you’re at work today?"
"I heard from the director that you were injured. Are you completely healed now?"
Lucy Eaton nodded, "Already healed."
"That’s good. Oh, a few of our hospital’s doctors will go for a rural medical visit soon. I’m heading there this afternoon. Do you want to go?"
"Medical visit?" Lucy Eaton agreed without hesitation, "I’ll go."
Michael Paxton smiled with his eyes, "Great, we’ll go together. I have two surgeries this morning. We each lead one, okay?"
"No problem." She picked up a teacup to get tea from the dispenser, "Show me the detailed information of the two patients who will be on the operating table."
After lunch, Lucy Eaton, Michael Paxton, and other doctors from different departments took a medical care vehicle to the countryside.
The location for this visit was Suburban Township, Riventide, Ningham City. Upon arrival, Lucy Eaton realized it was here.
Although the location was still some distance from Ainsworth Village, it was indeed part of Suburban Township.
Lucy Eaton had a feeling she would encounter someone she knew.
Sure enough, she met Mia Townsend’s parents and brother.
Mia’s brother has epilepsy, with the condition recurring frequently. Hearing about the free medical visit, the Thompson Family elders brought him over.
Seeing Lucy Eaton, Mia’s mother grabbed Daisy Eaton’s hand on the table, asking excitedly, "Where did you take our Mia!"
"You may have forgotten you broke off relations with her. Where did I take her? I’m not taking this blame."
"If not for your instigation, Mia wouldn’t have broken ties with us!" Mia’s mother said firmly, "You’re the main culprit."
Lucy Eaton stood up, shook off her hand, and said coldly, "In front of all these people, should I declare to everyone how you treated Mia? Do you want to lose your dignity? If you’ve given up on that, I can publicly tell everyone how you’ve treated your daughter and let them judge. How about that?"
Listening to her, Mia’s mother immediately looked embarrassed and had no words.
"With the money saved by Mia’s hard work, you should behave quietly and don’t think of exploiting her further. Or else, things won’t go well for you. If you’re here for medical attention, queue up properly. If you start making noise, then don’t get treated."
After these words, the Townsend parents immediately quieted down.
Out of consideration for Mia Townsend, Lucy Eaton took her brother’s illness very seriously.
This medical visit served over a thousand community members, with half found to have mild to severe issues.
When it ended, it was already seven o’clock.
Lucy Eaton got on the medical care vehicle, drank half a bottle of mineral water, alleviating the dry irritation in her throat.
She noticed Michael Paxton’s face looked unwell, clearly exhausted, and asked, "Do you have low blood sugar?"
She pulled out a few pieces of candy from her pocket and handed them to him, "Here."
"Thank you." Michael Paxton accepted one, peeled it, and put it in his mouth.
Lucy Eaton peeled a piece and ate one herself.
"Everyone worked hard today. When we return to the hospital, let’s go out for dinner together?"
"Great, no cafeteria food tonight."

Lucy Eaton was about to decline, when Sarah Reed couldn’t help but ask, "For someone like Dr. Eaton, is she too proud to dine with us?"
Everyone’s eyes fell on her, and Michael Paxton couldn’t help but tell Sarah Reed, "Stop stirring things up."
"How am I causing trouble? I was just stating the facts."
Knowing Sarah Reed liked to make mischief, Lucy Eaton said, "Dr. Reed’s provoking doesn’t work on me. It’s not about pride or disdain. The only reason I won’t join is that I can’t eat seeing Dr. Reed, so how can I raise a glass with everyone? So, I’m not coming. Have fun at dinner, everyone."
"You say I’m unappetizing?" Sarah Reed thought she posed a tough problem, but Lucy Eaton didn’t seem bothered.
"Congratulations, you answered correctly."
"Lucy Eaton, don’t push me too far!"
"Wrongdoers accuse first? My face unchanged, Lucy Eaton replied, "With so many colleagues present, everyone sees clearly. I’m simply defending myself. If someone tried to kill me, can’t I fight back? Even if I killed the attacker, how would I be at fault? This is called self-defense legally. Dr. Reed, if you don’t understand, you can look it up online. Instead of idling and watching dramas, more brain training will prevent looking ridiculous."
