Chapter 138: Chapter 138

Sarah Reed noticed the surrounding colleagues couldn’t help but laugh, and she suddenly felt she had become as embarrassing as Lucy Eaton had suggested in their hearts.

Overwhelmed with embarrassment and anger, she was about to make a move, but Lucy Eaton saw through it in advance, "Are you going to hit me? Are you sure... you can beat me?"

Sarah remembered the consequences of their brawl in the office last time, so she withdrew her hand and couldn’t help but add, "Judging others by one’s own petty mind."

"I don’t want to talk to you much; there’s no need for you to argue recklessly here. If you annoy me, you’ll get a beating without medical compensation."

"Doctor Reed, you shouldn’t push it anymore." A gynecologist, Dr. Li, who had once been saved by Lucy Eaton, couldn’t stand it, "Don’t you realize who started this whole thing first?"

"What’s it to you?" Sarah Reed, like a mad dog, lashed out at whoever was near, "How is it any of your business?"

Dr. Li, with a thin skin, felt put on the spot by her question, and Lucy Eaton spoke up, "How is it none of Dr. Li’s business? You’re creating a stink in a public space, and no one’s allowed to call you out?"

As she said this, colleagues covered their mouths with a smile, and Sarah’s face turned a mix of red and purple, "You’re the one creating a stink!"

Lucy Eaton didn’t respond further. The likes of Sarah Reed should just be ignored, letting her dance around in her own madness. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩⁂𝔣𝔦𝔯𝔢⁂𝔫𝔢𝔱

The medical vehicle drove to the People’s Hospital, and once it stopped, everyone got off.

Lucy Eaton was about to return to the office to put back her lab coat, but she received a call from Nathaniel Green, informing her about Grace Hughes’s situation.

So she handed the lab coat to Michael Paxton, "Dr. Paxton, I’m not going back to the office, can you take my coat back for me?"

After handing it over, she turned and walked to her car, driving away from the hospital.

Reaching Blossom Haven, she exited the garage and met Nathaniel Green approaching her at the villa’s entrance.

"Grace Hughes was released?!"

"Yes, the police didn’t disclose who rescued her, but we’ve already found a clue about who did it; it was Stellan Quinn’s doing." Nathaniel Green’s hands dangled at his sides, his gaze sharp, "Reportedly by our agents in the Presidential Mansion, Stellan Quinn, disguised as Laura, has been working very diligently. It didn’t take long for her to blend in and earn good relations. Although our people were watching her movements, they can’t monitor her every moment, as they have their duties too. Unexpectedly, just two hours before Grace Hughes was rescued this afternoon, Your Highness Arthur Bennett transferred her to his courtyard. This act alone is enough to indicate that Stellan Quinn has taken advantage of Your Highness; otherwise, with her new identity, what could she use to persuade Your Highness to help free someone?"

Lucy Eaton thought of Flora Palmer, who had just married Arthur Bennett not long ago, "What a pity for Miss Palmer."

"Young Madam, what’s our next step now?"

"Keep watching Stellan Quinn. Tomorrow, I’m heading to Northriver to meet with Flora Palmer and give her a warning."

"Young Madam, although Flora Palmer is Arthur Bennett’s legitimate wife, it was a political marriage; they surely have no emotional ties. Can she control Arthur Bennett?"

"She certainly can’t control him. However, he’s an ambitious man, and ambitious men prioritize interests above all." Lucy Eaton’s eyes carried a hint of coldness, "Stellan Quinn’s goal is certainly more than her current situation. Since she’s on this path, there’s no turning back, so she can only strive to get what she wants at all costs. Flora Palmer needs to know her background, firstly to prevent trouble before it happens, and secondly, with Flora Palmer in the Presidential Mansion, Stellan Quinn will find it harder to act."

"But if Flora Palmer is unwilling..."

"She’ll be willing." Lucy Eaton was certain, "Because only this way can she live long and securely. Also, in the Presidential Mansion, it’s not just Stellan Quinn but also her mastermind behind the scenes, Grace Hughes. If Flora Palmer doesn’t know her background, she could easily be approached with ulterior motives by Grace Hughes, making wedding clothes for someone else."

"Then I’ll arrange for a flight tomorrow morning."

Lucy Eaton nodded, "By the way, Grace Hughes’s parents weren’t rescued together, right?"

"It seems Grace Hughes is quite estranged from her parents. She could’ve asked Stellan Quinn to also rescue her parents but didn’t. She probably feels that with her parents still in prison, her life is more peaceful. However, although Stellan Quinn had no prior contact with Grace Hughes, it seems she’s been closely monitoring developments in Ningham regarding Grace Hughes’s arrest."

Nathaniel Green agreed, "I think so too."

"Even if her intellect has improved, as long as she hasn’t seen Grace Hughes’s true colors, she’s not a difficult character to handle. Go arrange the flight."

Jacob Green wasn’t home, so Lucy Eaton dined alone, then took a shower upstairs. When she came out wearing a strappy nightgown, he had just walked in.

"Coming home only now, where were you?" She frowned, smelling the alcohol on him, "You drank?"

"Had a bit with Elijah." Jacob Green sat by the bed, reached out, and pulled her onto his lap, "Do you know how much Elijah envies me?"

"Envy me for marrying you." He chuckled hoarsely, "He said ever since I’ve been with you, I’ve changed a lot."

Lucy Eaton slightly turned her face, "I also feel you’ve changed a lot. But it’s not because of me; I believe this is the real you, and I’m just the catalyst that made the real you appear."

"You’re speaking as if you know the old me."

Lucy Eaton changed the topic, "Did Nathaniel Green report Grace Hughes’s issue to you?"

"He reported to me first thing. On my return, I also heard about your plan to visit Flora Palmer in Northriver tomorrow morning."

"What do you think of my approach?"

"I agree with your approach." His hand slid like a fish into her nightgown, "Flora Palmer isn’t a foolish person; she’ll recognize the pros and cons and make the best decision."

"You’ll see her at the Palmer Family tomorrow then. I’ll call Frederick Palmer to have him bring Flora Palmer back."

Lucy Eaton agreed, "Alright."

The next morning, as dawn broke, Lucy Eaton took a plane to Northriver City.

When she arrived at the Palmer Family, Flora Palmer was already back.

"Lucy." Flora Palmer never forgot how Lucy Eaton had pulled her behind her in the face of danger last time. If it weren’t for her, Flora Palmer knew for sure she would have died, so she always remembered Lucy Eaton’s life-saving grace.

"Long time no see; I came to Northriver to meet you on purpose this time because there’s something quite substantial I need to warn you about."
