TWO DAYS LATER

NAOMI POV

I was sitting with my legs curled together with my hands thinking about how I’ll start my life afresh when I get out of prison when I heard a loud voice called out to me by the name I’m addressed here.

“Hey prisoner 202, you got a visitor.” The not so friendly security guard stated with cold eyes and opened the gate to my cell.

I followed him to the visitor’s waiting room quietly without saying a word and found Frank waiting for me.

“You got five minutes and nothing more.” The security guard stated and shut the door as I walked over to meet him.

“HI Naomi. Are you doing today?” He asked with a smile and pulled a chair for me to sit which no man has ever done for me.

“Hi! I’m fine and you?” I responded, trying to act free around him.

I still feel guilt and pain for everything I did in the past and I wish to erase every moment from it but it just feels so hard to do.

“I had the maids prepare something nice for you today. Here, you go. You can have a bite from the meal to know how it tastes.” He urged me and set out the dish which was ham and potato cakes with rocket pesto and crisp squid with saffron and green apple aioli.

I never imagined I would get such warm treatment from someone I treated badly in the past. I couldn’t help but let the tears I was fighting back fall freely down my cheeks.

“Why are you crying? Did I say or did something wrong?” He inquired with concern.

“Why are you so nice to me after everything I did to you in the past?”

“Your past does not define your future, Naomi. Everyone makes mistakes and yet they still get to rectify their mistakes which you did and it’s time to move on and start a new beginning. I’ve always liked you from the very beginning but I couldn’t get the chance to say it to you.”

“How can you still like someone like me who was so mean and harsh towards you?”

“That’s all in the past. I knew you would change back then that’s why I never stopped loving you because you’re worth loving in all aspects.”

“Why are you saying all these to me now?”

“It’s because I can’t live peacefully knowing how sad and unhappy you are. All I think about is you and I can’t bear to see you suffering all alone. I’m here to create a new beginning for you, please give me the chance to make myself worthy.”

“I… I…” I stammered trying to control my tears as he got up on his feet and moved towards me slowly wiping my tears.

“It’s okay Naomi. Everything will be alright.” He assured me.

Hearing those words from him, I felt a heavy burden being pulled off my chest. No guy has ever made me feel the way I feel right now except him and he’s the first to confess his feelings for me.

Do I really deserve his love after everything that has happened? It’s really going to be hard to forget the past just like he said and start my life.

“Will you help me to forget the past and start a new beginning?”

“Yes. I’m more than ready to stand beside you.” He said with sincerity in his eyes which made me hug him tightly to myself.

MRS WALTON POV

I kept recalling Frank’s love confession towards my niece throughout my way back home.

I came to check up on Naomi since we just got back from the trip but the words I heard were really unbelievable.

Naomi seemed shocked as well to hear such a confession from someone she never expected.

I vividly remember times, she would come crying to me saying she has no boyfriend and her friends feel she’s a lesbian but I always tell her to relax and wait for her perfect man.

Could it be a coincidence Frank is her perfect man or is he just trying to play with her emotions?

I do need answers to clear all the doubts about Frank playing with her feelings. I will have to call him personally and confirm if all what he said to her is indeed pure from his heart.

I don’t want to see her get hurt in any way or go through any tough situation again.

I need to inform my husband about the news so we can know the next step to take.

I pulled out my phone from my bag and dialed Frank’s number putting the call on speaker.

“Hello Mrs Walton.” His voice bloomed out.

“Hello Frank. We just got back from the trip. Where are you right now?”

“I came to visit Naomi in the prison but I’m on my way right now.”

“Can you come over to the mansion? I want to have a word with you.”

“Okay Mrs Walton. I’ll be there soon.”

“Alright, see you soon.” I declared and cut the call.

He has always been loyal and faithful but I want to see how far he can go in making my niece happy again.

“Please take a seat Frank.” My husband gestured to him to take a seat.

“I learned something today. That's why my wife and I called you to hear the truth from you. I do hope you will be honest with us about everything.”

“Okay Mr Walton. I’m all ears.”

“For how long have you been in love with Naomi?” My husband questioned as he wild his eyes in shock.

“Erhm… I’ve been in love with her for a very long time sir.” He confessed.

“That’s good. How much do you love her?”

“I love her more than my life. The past doesn’t count, it's the future that really counts.”

“What was her response when you confessed to her?”

“She’s already accepted my love and wants me to help to start a new life and forget the past.”

“I can’t wait to see her out of that hell hole.” I uttered with bitterness.

“Will you be able to help her through the process?”

“Yes Mr Walton. I’m more than ready to prove my love to her.”

“How am I sure you won’t hurt my only niece?”

“I promise you with my life I won’t do anything to hurt her in any way.” He vowed.

“I hope you will keep to your promise.”

“I will Mrs Walton.” He replied with assurance.
