Chapter 26: Chapter 26
TIA POV
Ellen and I were working on a document when my biped right next to me to see it was Katie calling.
I really forgot so much about her
“Give me a minute, Ella. I need to pick this call in private.” I stated.
“Okay ma’am.” She replied and headed out of the office before picking the call.
“Did you forget your bestie so easily after your wedding?”
“It’s not that way Katie. There’s a lot going on right now that I think I need to handle on my own.”
“Babe, what’s really going on? Did Andrew do something wrong to you?”
“Why don’t you come over to the office so we can discuss it.”
“Okay, I will cancel all my appointments and join you shortly. I hope you’re doing fine?”
“I’m fine Katie. I’ll be waiting for you, okay?”
“Alright, see you soon.” She responded and disconnected the call.
Once I tell her how things turned, perhaps, I will feel alright to continue enduring everything.
ANDREW POV
I stepped inside my office after attending a business meeting and found the person who rarely visits sitting on my seat with a smirk on his face.
I can’t really remember the last time we saw each other apart from communicating over the phone.
“It’s so good to see you, Mikey.” I grinned, calling his childhood nickname like old days.
“Same here, blood. It’s really good to be back after a year. Everywhere has really changed, including you, buddy.” He replied, getting on his feet as we both exchanged friendly hugs.
“I should be saying that to you, Mikey. What exactly brings you back to Seattle?”
“Business as usual also my parents want me to settle down as soon as possible.”
“Don’t tell me you’re planning to do just that?”
“Of course, I am interested. I’m really tired of being single.”
“I see. Good luck in bringing problems into your life.”
“Thanks man. So, when is my cousin planning to settle down?” He asked with a grin.
“Can we discuss other things apart from that?”
“Why are you not saying a word? Don’t tell me Naomi’s ideology is still running in your head?”
“Just shut it Mikey.” I grumbled and urged him towards the living room area.
Mike and I happen to be cousins and best of buddies. We grew up together and did things together like brothers.
His dad is my dad’s younger brother which makes him more like my younger brother.
“Buddy, I learnt you got married to a beautiful angel. Why didn’t you tell me about it?”
“Was it Frank who told you I got married?”
“Leave him out of this, Andrew. You do know I have my ways. I visited my aunt and uncle at the hospital so they told me about your marriage. That’s why I decided to pay my best cousin a visit to congratulate him.”
“I see where this is heading. If you have come to ask about my wife then you won’t get any word from me.”
“Are you afraid I will steal her away from you?”
“Be my guest. After all, the marriage is based on a contract so there’s no hard feelings attached to it.”
“What???”
“Are you surprised? I knew mom would skip that part due to dad’s condition.”
“Hold on Andrew. Do you mean uncle isn’t aware?”
“Yeah, he isn’t. He’s the reason why I agreed with the marriage in the first place.”
“Whoa! This is really a shock to me.”
“Don’t be. Once my dad's health is stable, we’re getting divorced.”
“You really can’t be serious, Andrew.”
“I’m serious, man. That's why I don't want to create any relationship with her.”
“I refused to take those words from you. Love doesn’t come without any sign of warning and I’m sure yours will be the same.”
“I stand on my word, Mikey. Either you take it or not.”
“Time will tell buddy but before then I will love to meet her.”
“You can go over to my mansion and check her out yourself.”
“That won’t be necessary. I got a better idea.”
“That’s your problem. Just don’t open your tongue to tell her a word about me.” I cautioned.
“Trust me cousin, I won’t do such. I hope you don’t mind if I grow bonds with her.”
“That’s not my problem.” I murmured.
Why should I care, it’s not that she's important to me. I don’t care who wants to associate with her. She has her life to live while I have mine too.
TIA POV
“Babe, I really suggest you end the marriage right now. You just can’t keep hiding your hurt inside. What if something happens to you?”
“I will be fine and moreover, I really like my new life and the company is back to normal and we’re getting contracts from so many companies and it all thanks to this marriage.”
“I know but going through pain isn’t the solution.”
“I can handle it, Katie.”
“What are you really saying? Don’t you remember he grabbed you by the neck when you only did him a favor in the presence of his parents? How ungrateful can he be?” She heaved in anger.
“Please, Katie. You don’t have to be mad about this.”
“What if he hurt you again, babe? I’m just scared of your decision to change him.”
“There’s no harm in trying. I just need to find out who Naomi is and what impact she left in his life.”
“Then you have got to ask Andrew’s mom herself if you really want answers.”
“I guess that’s what I will do but how am I supposed to change him when I don’t even know where he is after our wedding night.”
“We can’t say but just hope he decides to turn up soon.” She responded as the telephone on my desk rang.
I picked the call as Ella's voice bloomed.
"Ma'am, there's a man who wants to meet you. Also, he referred to you as Mrs Walton, should I send him in?"
“Send him in then.” I ordered and dropped the call, wondering who it was. Could it be Andrew’s personal assistant, Frank or someone else? I really can’t say but let's see who it is.
“Who is it?” Katie asked.
“I don’t know as well but the person referred to me as Mrs Walton.”
“That means the person…” She was still talking when the knock stopped her half way.
“Come in, the door is open.” I answered as the person walked in.
He was dressed in an expensive blue tux suit with his hair styled in a handsome way. I was sure I hadn't seen his face before. But how did he know I am bearing the Walton name.
“You’re indeed as beautiful as they described you to be. I believe you’re Tia?” He asked, smiling at me as I was totally confused.
