Chapter 23: Chapter 23
TIA POV
I woke up the next morning with wobble eyes and a terrible headache as the events of last night came rushing back to me.
I really don't know why I got myself involved in this kind of marriage. I just have to keep enduring everything since ma'am Sarah and her husband really love me. I still believe with time Andrew's attitude will change towards me even if he won’t get to like me.
I wonder if he is back home since he didn't say a word to me of where he is going but he did tell his parents he had something to take care of. I just hope I can bear the pain and suffering in this marriage which is really loveless.
I got off the bed and strolled over to the bathroom to take a shower.
After spending almost an hour, I stepped out and found three maids cleaning the room.
"Good morning ma'am." They uttered in unison.
"Good morning." I replied and walked over to my closet to pick up the dress to put on.
After settling for a pink floral dress, I stepped out of the closet and saw two of the maids going out of the room.
"We're done cleaning ma'am. Also, breakfast is ready." The one left behind announced.
"Okay. Thank you." I responded with a smile as she walked out of the room.
I dropped the dress on the bed and moved to the makeup desk to dry my hair and apply lotion on my body.
After doing all the necessary process, I checked myself in the mirror before making my way downstairs for breakfast.
I was halfway to the living room when I heard voices of two maids discussing my marriage with Andrew which made me stop to listen to the conversation.
"Do you think their marriage is really based on love?"
"I don't think so because how could the boss never even care to return home on his wedding night?" The second girl replied.
"You're absolutely right. I really feel sad for the poor lady. She must really be hurt right now." The first girl expressed.
"Yeah, I also feel the same. She really has a great responsibility to handle."
"That’s totally true. He's so cold hearted to the point no woman would wish to have such a man as a husband."
"You do know it wasn’t his fault. It’s all thanks to ma'am Naomi. She was the cause of his change into a cold hearted man. I never really liked her for anything."
"She's the real definition of the devil himself."
"Let’s get back to work before someone finds out we are discussing the boss' matters." The first girl uttered.
"I don't want to get fired just by talking about her." The other girl replied as I heard the sound of their footsteps fading away.
There’s a reason why he’s cold hearted after and who is this Naomi they're talking about and what’s her relationship with him?
Ma'am Sarah never made mention of her as well. Could she be Andrew’s ex-girlfriend or ex-wife? Who will have the answers to my questions? I’m really curious to know everything about the lady.
It definitely would look like I’m getting into their private space and if she had wanted me to know, she would have told me about the mysterious woman.
I know when the time is right, I will find out who she was and what she did to Andrew to have made me turn this cold towards me.
I could tell he isn’t just saying that to me. It might be as a result of what Naomi did to me. I really want to find out what she really did to him to have made him act really bitter towards me without any reason.
***
After breakfast, I headed back upstairs to my room to rest when an idea triggered in my head.
I stood in front of Andrew's bedroom door and looked around to make sure no one was in sight before stepping inside.
I'll just have a look at the room and come out before he arrives.
The room wasn't bad at all. I was admiring the interior of the room when my eyes caught on a large picture frame on the wall.
It was the picture of Andrew, ma'am Sarah, her husband and a lady whose face was ripped off from the picture.
Could she be the same Naomi the maids were talking about earlier and why is her face ripped off from the picture? Sometime is definitely mischievous. There's no doubt the lady is his ex-wife.
ANDREW POV
“Shit! This doesn’t make any sense. Why is that bitch bent on trying to torment my life in every way?” I roared, throwing every little thing I could touch.
“You have to calm down, sir.”
“Don’t you tell me to calm down, Frank. You heard what those bloody investors said. How could they even think of bringing a third party into our contract who turned out to be my worst enemy?” I fumed, taking off my tie and going over to the table where the whiskey I ordered for.
“Please, calm down sir. It’s a good thing you didn’t accept it in the beginning and decided to call for a meeting.”
“That’s because I trusted my guts, which proved to say the truth every time.” I replied and poured myself a bit of the whiskey inside a cup.
“That’s really a smart move, sir.”
“I know.” I grumbled and gulped it down.
“Arrange for the plane, we’re leaving for France.”
“But the meeting you’re having there for isn’t going to be held anytime soon.”
“That’s because I don’t want to see that bitch of a wife. I can’t afford to stand her presence.”
“What about your father who just recovered?”
“I will handle him just do as you’re told and get out.”
“Okay sir but please try not to get drunk.” He responded and walked out of my room.
I can't bear to see her. She's really a temptress just like mom viewed her to be and I feel I might just fall in love for the first time in my life.
So, it's best I stay far away from her and forget I even got married to a seductress.
