Chapter 85: Chapter 85
Silence descended in the hall instantly. Everyone stopped speaking as they watched the man step onto the stage.
His presence commanded an air of respect and each step he took had the employees holding their breath.
As if an ancient ruler had suddenly descended into a regal arena, the conference hall was overwhelmed with a kind of tension that had the employees’ hearts racing.
From the moment he stepped onto the stage to the time he sat on the big chair, the employees stared at him in awe.
Most of them had only seen this man once during the last conference some months ago when he assumed the CEO’s position, and they couldn’t get enough of his heavenly looks.
After the CEO sat down, whispers instantly broke out.
“Pinch me, I think I’m dreaming.”
“Gosh, the CEO is so good-looking.”
“I think I want to cry. If I could see his face every day, I wouldn’t care about anything else.”
“The CEO is generous, elegant, and handsome. If only the heavens could shower its blessings on me. I have been praying hard recently, you know.”
“Stop hoping for the impossible. Despite being charming, our CEO looks unapproachable. Will he even look at you?”
“Please tell her, Sabrina, before she fills her head with hopeless fantasies.” Layla couldn’t help but agree with the girl sitting beside her.
“But seriously, Annie. This man is very gorgeous. He’s more good-looking than my favorite celebrity.”
Layla regretted not attending the first general conference. She would have gotten a load of the man’s beauty. She had never set eyes on the CEO before, so she was more struck than anyone else.
“Annie, I can swear he’s looking at me.” Suddenly, the man stared in their direction and Layla almost screamed. She covered her face and looked sideways, then she shifted uncomfortably on her chair.
“Please tell me he’s still looking, Annie,” Layla whispered to the silent girl.
“He’s no longer looking.” Annie laughed. “Stop acting like a teenager, Layla.”
“But I think the CEO has a crush on me!” Layla said frantically. The girl looked as if she had lost her mind. “Otherwise, why would he be staring at me?”
“I didn’t know Mrs. Ju’an was so dumb.” One of the girls sitting beside them said in a low voice. It was none other than Mia. “How sure are you that the CEO isn’t staring at your friend?”
“The same thing happened at the last conference. The CEO only looked at Ms. Lin,” Sabrina seconded Mia’s statement.
Layla ignored the girls and turned to Annie. “I swear he was looking at me. My heart is racing and I can’t get it to stop.”
“Relax, Layla.” Annie sighed helplessly. The man had stopped looking in their direction and she focused on her phone after removing the earphones.
At the stage…
Assistant Jiang couldn’t help but stare at the girls. Apart from not expecting that troublesome girl to sit with Mrs. Lim, he also found it funny that Mrs. Lim would ignore the Boss.
Even though the man didn’t stare at her for long like last time, there was no reaction on her face. If the assistant wasn’t mistaken, Mrs. Lim even rolled her eyes at the Boss. Her displeased expression only lasted for a few seconds, but the assistant didn’t miss it.
“So noisy,” Andrew said in a displeased tone, speaking to no one in particular. Everyone had to agree that the employees were being too noisy.
The conference hall was filled with their whispers and the girls looked as if they would gobble the CEO up.
Sensing the man’s irritation, Assistant Jiang quickly gestured to the MC who was holding the microphone.
“Attention, Everyone. Please be quiet.” Through the loudspeaker, the voice resounded in the enormous hall, and in the next second, there was a pin-drop silence.
After restoring order in the place, the MC went on. “As you are all aware, this is an important day in MystiArt Productions. Sadly, it was delayed for some days. However, with the return of the CEO, we can finally hold the general conference.”
“With that said,” The man went on. “Let’s welcome our CEO. Hopefully, Mr. Lim had a nice trip.”
Claps and whistles erupted in the hall, and everyone was confused. Their confusion wasn’t because of the claps, but because of the whistlings.
“Who are those doing that?” Andrew had on a displeased look. Did they not know the difference between a business conference and a party?
“Erm, Mr. Lim.” Assistang Jiang cleared his throat and whispered to the man. “I think you have earned yourself some fans. It is actually the female employees.”
“Ridiculous.”
The employees didn’t sense the man’s displeasure though. They were so busy with hyping up the atmosphere.
The MC looked lost and he quickly restored order again. “That is enough. The CEO appreciates your enthusiasm. But, we must get started because time is not by our sides.”
The hall quietened down and the MC continued. “Before the ceremony begins, let’s welcome the shareholders too and appreciate their attendance.”
The employees clapped again, but not a single whistle could be heard from the crowd this time. The higher-ups were more confused by that.
“Also, before the ceremony begins, I must make an important announcement.” The MC spoke on. “As you all know, MystiArt Productions is an auspicious company. Every time, there is always an improvement.”
Everyone waited silently, anticipating the important announcement. The conference had not even started yet, what was it that it wouldn’t be announced on the forum and had to be shifted to this day?
“Is it a new collaboration?”
“Maybe someone died.”
“Eh, he spoke of improvement and not a setback. I think it’s good news.”
“Ah, could they begin the ceremony already? Even if it is good news, it might be someone else’s. How does it concern us?”
“Stop talking as if you’re not a member of this company. Maybe the CEO has something important to say.”
It wasn’t the CEO who spoke, though. It was still the MC.
After taking some minutes to restore order once again, the man cleared his throat and said clearly, “Today, I am pleased to announce that a new shareholder has stepped onto the board. Everyone, let’s welcome Mr. Ju’an who is also an important Manager in MystiArt Productions.”
